Stopped in on our way home from Holland, MI to see the tulips. The restaurant is located in an older building in a small town. The menu has a variety of brunch items. Service was phenomenal with only one waitress doing it all with a smile. She definitely gets lots of steps in a day! read more

This place is like going back in time 20-30 years. It's a must stop for breakfast. The food is good but the whole old world charm is definitely something that has to be experienced. It was a older gentlemans Birthday and when the family sang him happy birthday everyone in the restaurant sang too and clapped for him. It was great! The steak and eggs were good, add hash browns. The blueberry pancakes are epic, huge blueberries. Biscuits and gravy are good. When I looked at the bill I felt like it was 15 years ago. Please don't change! read more

Pretty yummy breakfast diner food. I had an omelette with hash browns and sourdough toast. I was happy there were a couple selections of toast to choose from. I would normally give this a 3 star because it was good but it wasn't the most stellar fresh place ever. I gave it 4 stars because the staff was great. I would definitely eat there again. I love Minnies! I usually go for breakfast, and everything I have tried so far is delicious. It's a small diner tucked in the corner of a building right downtown in Allegan. Their burgers are delicious too, and they often run great specials on them. I see ads for their pies all the time, and will have to try those someday! They always look so tasty at the counter. My experience closely parallels that of Amanda I. below. There are 19 tables in here if I counted correctly, I believe 3 waitresses, and 1 busser. Also, a woman in the kitchen with a Van Halen shirt (I give a secret thumbs up). Like the previous reviews stated, Sunday afternoon is really busy. Was told to find a table- there are 2 that were unoccupied, neither has been cleaned yet. Yay, I get to sit at someone else's breakfast mess for a few minutes. Table gets wiped down, the other vacant table is dirty for another 15 minutes, until someone else walks in and is told to find a table. *shakes head* Ordered the 'All Meat Quiche,' has ham, bacon, and sausage in it. Being a quiche, you'd think it was going to be special- it wasn't. Just regular ol' greasy spoon items thrown into a quiche. I bumped it up 1 star because there were fresh fruit slices on the plate: melon, pineapple, and orange. There were grapes, I'm more a fan of raspberries and blackberries; but that's not their fault. Just me being whiny. Likely will not return, not a fan of having to pick out a dirty table. Would probably head toward Saugatuck or South Haven in search of something else. read more

Such an awesome cozy downtown restaurant. Definitely my favorite in Allegan. The service is outstanding, food to die for. I've gone there a handful of times, and any of their sandwiches are great! I would advice not going around lunch time due to it being pretty busy. read more

I would have given this establishment 4 stars ...except for the out of town arrogant idiots that low-balled on their reviews. One of the reviewers, Amanda, lied about the cost of the avocado. It was between $1.00 and $2.00. I'm a big city guy and when I'm in the big city, I expect big city things to happen. It beats me why the low-ball/low-rent reviewers would want what they already can get elsewhere. So, here's what happened. I'm currently staying 75 minutes east of Allegan and chose this town to meet up with a friend from Douglas, Michigan. I arrived 10 minutes prior to our meeting time and the waitress promptly seated me at a larger table even though was the only one in my party. They started serving water and coffee right away along with the menus. My friend arrived, ordered coffee right away and while taking a bit to get our order (since we were catching up on life), kept refilling our drinks while kindly waiting to get our order. We each ordered an omelet and the waitress patiently told me how much extra my extras would be. As far as I could tell, the menu is about 1/3 of what one would pay in Chicago and NYC and about 1/2 of what one would pay in Minneapolis. It appears that the locals that frequent this establishment watch their pennies and therefore the attention to cost detail on the part of the waitress. I was not put off by this and actually appreciated her patience. The omelet was a 6.5 out of 10 and the home made pie was a 10 out of 10. The coffee was wait for it.... $1.35 for bottomless cup and it was just fine. Here's the kicker. The place usually closes at 2 PM on a Sunday. At 1:30 PM I noticed that everyone except for us left. I asked the waitress if they indeed did close at 2 PM and she informed that they closed at 1 PM on a holiday. It appears that Fathers Day is a holiday in this town. After telling them I had not seen my friend in years, the told us to stay there while cleaning up. read more

I took my kiddo there for a breakfast date and we were very pleased. :-) Great service, we hardly waited for our food, and it was delicious homemade style. AND it costed less than $15 for the two of us- in 2022 that is cheap! I highly recommend Minnie's and cannot wait to eat there again. :D read more

I have had terrible service twice in this restaurant. Both times with the same awful server. Both experiences years apart. Our food was taking a really long time; the owner told the server to show me the ticket time to prove to me that we had waited 30 min. instead of the 45 min. I had told her we were waiting. I'm serious. When I went up to pay the bill I asked if the owner really told her to do that, and she went on to tell me that I shouldn't be exaggerating. I said, "it's fine we just won't be back. To which she said,"well, don't come back then!" As we were walking out the door she yelled, "have a great day!!" Sarcastic and rude. The first time we ate here years ago my husband and I got the same meal- she didn't put mine in. When we complained she argued with us that I hadn't ordered anything. Huh? Why wouldn't I have ordered anything? It was my birthday. My husband told her- that trying to smooth everything over. As we were leaving she yelled, "Happy Birthday!" Same rude and sarcastic tone. Supper slow! been here over an hour 20 minutes to get drink order and they are not that busy. Can see our food on the counter and they keep walking past it. Jen our waitress seems to like standing at cash register more then looking around for what's next to do. Kitchen seems fast enough once order is placed. This place is okay; nothing spectacular. I've been here a handful of times for lunch only during the week. The menu hasn't changed in years and is very small. It's basic diner food, it's not out of this world and I don't make it a point to frequent this establishment often. I will say the staff is very friendly, although service is slow because they're not properly staffed. read more
