We stopped here for a quick bite to-go, and so we could try the UP classic food, pasties. I got two vegetable pasties to go at $6.25 each. Pasties are like small, round pot pies. In my opinion, one pasty is enough for two people, making it a good value. The crust was nice and thin, and not greasy. The filling included mostly potatoes along with some carrots. It would have been nice to have some other veggies in there. Not very flavorful by itself, so a little hot sauce would be a nice boost. The shop was quaint. No tables inside, but a few outside. They also sell some beverages, fudge, and some sort of local toast snack.

Come and get your apple pasties!!

Pasties are super tasty, super duper tasty. Apple was prepared perfectly with a crisp folded edge, sprinkled with sugar with a tasty cinnamon filling that is just delicious. Today they also had blueberry pasties and of course thd more savory versions, however, we are suckers for sweetness. They have frozen pasties for later or travel. They have warmed toasty pasties in the case, ready to be your next tasty handheld snack or meal.

Not much indoor seating. When we went they were out of chicken. So we headed to the original one

Ordered a traditional pastie with a side of beef gravy, a pie of the day today was blueberry and some peanut butter fudge for later tonight. What a find this place is! Quick friendly service. The pastie was outstanding and plenty for the two of us to share! The blueberry pie was also very delicious. Don't pass this place up!

Coming from Chicago, I had never heard of pasties before (pronounced path-steez) but I saw signs for them all over Michigan. Muldoons II was in the heart of downtown munising so it was convenient to stop by between activities. This was a great first pastie experience! I ordered the chicken pastie with gravy - I wish there was hot sauce because it was a little bland. I tried a bite of my boyfriend's beef pastie and it was SIGNIFICANTLY more flavorful! I highly recommend the beef pastie + gravy. The apple pastie was incredible also - they know how to make a mean crust! I liked how while waiting in line, there is a viewing window into the kitchen to see how pasties are made.

It was ok but I expected better. There were to many potatoes and not enough meat in it. My preference was from Roy's over Muldoon's.

I've tried…read moreabout 10 so far and most have been average 5/10 and the last place prize goes to a pasty from Calumet (dry, very little meat or flavor). This Miner's "Yooper" pasty is easily within the top 2 so far! The crust is moist/tender and the filling is full of flavor and not dry like many are. There is a lot of beef in the filing along with the other staples. I usually prefer chopped veggies but this was so good, I didn't mind the sliced/peeled version. The service was good. A nice place, easy to see/find. This "Yooper" pasty gets an 8.5 out of 10!

The pastry does not crumble apart like a pie crust, but is not heavy. I seriously need to figure out how to make these at home. We loved these so much we bought frozen ones for later. There is no inside seating. There are 4 picnic tables next to the parking lot. Owners have an open door looking into their kitchen. Looks like a few generations working together. I would recommend covering the part of sheet showing the options for the specialty pasties. They are not available during summer months. It would help the friendly cashier from patiently explaining again and again that they are served only during the winter.

The coffee was decent, not mind-blowing, but it did the job. The mocha was a nice treat, though! The real highlight of this place was the staff. The baristas were super friendly, making the experience feel warm and welcoming. It's clear they enjoy what they do, and it shows in their service. While the food was solid, I'd say the bathroom could use a little more attention. It wasn't as clean as I'd hoped, but it didn't ruin the vibe of the place. One of the coolest things about Fall Rock Cake is the bookstore aspect. You can browse through a variety of books while enjoying your coffee or meal. It's the perfect spot to unwind, especially if you're a book lover! Overall, great atmosphere, friendly service, and a good place to relax and grab a bite.

5/5 -- A Hidden Gem Fueled by Faith and Great Coffee!…read more A few weeks back, I was riding my motorcycle through Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula on a trip from Maryland and stopped overnight in Munising. The next morning, I went searching for some good coffee and came across Rustic Grounds Coffee Trailer. As I looked over the menu, I saw a variety of great options and asked if I could make a small tweak to one of their specialty lattes -- no hesitation, no problem, they made it happen! When I took that first sip... wow. Smooth, balanced, and genuinely one of the best lattes I've had. I've traveled all over the world, and this little coffee trailer easily holds its own among my favorite stops. Top 10? Maybe not, but definitely my top favorite in the UP! (I'm originally from the UP, born and raised in.) While enjoying my drink, I noticed the cup had the outline of Michigan's Upper Peninsula with the words "Fueled by Jesus & Coffee." That made me smile. Then I saw the T-shirts hanging on a wall by the side of the trailer featuring Bible verses and faith-inspired designs -- such a great touch! This place is more than just a coffee stop; it's a reflection of love, faith, and community. If you're ever in Munising and want amazing coffee while supporting a small, family-owned, Christian business -- Rustic Grounds is absolutely the place to go. I'll definitely be back when I ride through the UP again!
