We chose Mulligans because it's within walking distance of our Airbnb, and it was recommended so highly on this site. I have no idea what those recommendations are based upon; it was absolutely one of the worst bars we've ever been to. For starters, the bartender was rude. Seriously, I've left hundreds of ratings on this site and never once before mentioned rude service. This guy would turn and walk away while we were trying to order, give us flip answers ("I dunno; I don't drink beer"), and just give surly service. Maybe we're not the type of clientele he prefers. The place was run down and dirty, with glasses and dishes left lying around, ragged chairs, graffiti scrawled on tables. We *did* order some tater tots and they were pretty good, but the rest of the visit was a bitter disappointment and a waste of money. read more

I'd been to Mulligan's a few times in the past, back before March when I didn't live in the neighborhood and I just came for shows at the Olympic upstairs. It was always a cool place to just come early and grab a drink til the Olympic opened, especially since it had a nice open outside patio with tables and chairs. Fast forward a year, several things have changed. I'm now literally in the neighborhood, looking out my window at Mulligan's as I type this. I'm on day 5 of my quarantine, thanks to a phone call Sunday telling me someone exposed me at a medical office last week. Wonder of wonders, I read about what Mulligan's was doing to give back to the community. I texted them a few days ago and was set up to receive a fresh-made Thanksgiving dinner. No charge, no questions-----as she said, I was the type of person she was looking for in the neighborhood. An hour ago she (and my bad for not getting her name) delivered the food to my door and texted me that it was there. COVID quarantine protocol having been observed, I brought it inside. Dinner? It was 2:30 and it smelled so good suddenly I was starving. I opened it up and looked. All the proper goodies---green bean casserole, stuffing, cranberry, sauce, mashed potatoes, turkey and of course pumpkin pie. I opened the plastic utensils and dove in. It was the best Thanksgiving meal ever. Delicious and I could tell made with love for the neighborhood and one's community. I'm going to go there after my quarantine is over, have a few drinks and thank them for being such wonderful people. This is the kind of neighborhood bar we really want to support. read more

This is my go-to bar to play pool. Easy to get a drink and the bar staff are cool. The typical crowd is usually 25 y/o +. People will play screamo music followed by Bob Dylan and everyone will vibe to it. I've never seen nonsense happen at this bar (people are civil and cool). A good place to chat and mingle. Also, they are GOOD for the Boise community. They hosted a free Thanksgiving dinner for people who couldn't afford one or didn't get one. I'm sure they do other stuff I'm missing. Drinks are cheap. I arrived on a busy Friday afternoon, the host Adrian, greeted me with a smile. There were no open tables, but he insisted on me sitting on the bar - Great choice. He was very friendly and approachable. Once seated, the waitress, Natalie approached me with a warm welcome and gave me a menu. She recommended the tater tot nachos (a local favorite). I ordered those with a a 'mullichef salad'. After I ordered the somalia, Jake Came over and recommended a few house wines and cocktails to pair with my meal. Downtown college town Dive bar, nothing special. Honestly the bartender was a bit spacey. We had a few rounds and some food, it was fine. There was a very obviously intoxicated women who seemed to be alone and she walked right up to me (sitting against the wall in the back) and flipped me off and said I was being a b*tch and other similar things. She was stuttering and could barely form sentences. I asked her if she needed some water and my boyfriend walked her back to her seat. Several people witnessed this including staff and no one did anything. I told the bartender she needed water and should not be served more. It's unfortunate my Boise brethren aren't more enthusiastic about reviewing establishments. Perhaps they're all on Google. Here are my two cents then: Describing to an outsider what Mulligans' Golf Pub & Eatery is like can be a bit challenging. What is the appeal of a hundred hipsters packed in a oversized dive bar with long lines and smoky air? The atmosphere, dummy. If you grew up within a thirty mile radius of this bar the likelihood of running into someone you know from high school is great. For me, this is more exciting than a family reunion. I'm well aware that many people hate family reunions--perhaps steer clear then. But there are plenty of interesting characters that need to be met. From what I understand, there is no longer indoor smoking, but to the rear and front there is plenty of patio seating. A couple pool tables, darts, and arcade machines inside will keep you busy if you're the multi-tasking type. Also, there's a touch tunes machine. On any given night you will hear anything from Chris Brown to Rob Zombie. Promise. If you visit on a weekend, pop your doll hairs in early to reserve your tracks. Finally, there are specials most days of the week. Dollar beers on Sundays. Sunday funday activate! There's also industry night and two for ones. This place is a joke. The staff could literally care less about you. I have been in around a dozen times since moving to Boise.... usually because there's no where else to play pool. But enough is enough. The staff is drunk at best. our crew comes in (downtown service industry folk who are typically very forgiving w/ fellow industry people)... but the service here cannot be considered service. Lack of attention, crazy slow, rude, you name it- this spot is a perfect example of an intoxicated staff with no management who cares. We have always tipped exceptionally because we are industry... so that makes no difference. I'm happy to suggest anywhere other than Mulligans... sad as a billiards lover too. give a company that cares about service a chance over this place, please! AND their "regulars" that they serve to the point of zombie ness...... it gets dangerous and scary. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Sounds like this place in a classic in Boise- been open for years & years, also some of the only late night eats around downtown. This place is hit and miss. Sometimes the scene is relaxed and fun filled with hipster, bullshit jokes. (I like to laugh) The bar food is always righteous. The jukebox puts a smile on my face and the PBR 40s always make my days seem better. Came here on a Wednesday night with a group of coworkers, all from a restaurant/bar. We are normally the chillest people towards service industry staff. But the guy bartending was abysmal. Super slow, spent more time flirting with his regulars, made us repeat our orders before wandering off and forgetting us. I have been here several times. Every time the service is consistent, drinks are affordable, and their nachos are great. Plan to share. This was a great place to watch the BSU game. It wasn't too packed at first but after the game it picked up, a ton. I wouldn't say the service was slow but by the end of the night they were just very busy and the bar set-up seems to be, awkward for only one or two bartenders. I've been going to mulligans for three years now and I've always enjoyed the scene, the people, the staff, and the drinks. If I had left this review over a year ago it would have been 5 stars, however tonight I'm extremely upset about something that have accrued with the new manager. My friend had lost her card at mulligans the week before and had been coming in and just entering her card information and that is how she had paid for drinks. We came tonight 5/7/23 and she had asked if she could get a pen and paper to write her card number down and the lady who was serving us has said "I can but I won't" we thought maybe she didn't want to go through the hassle of typing it out so my friend had said "okay I'll just ask the other bartender" instead of the bartender explaining to us as to why we couldn't do it she said "I'm actually the manager here and if someone did that here I'll ring their ass" we felt uncomfortable so we left and went to this bar liquid had a few drinks and wanted to come back since that is our regular spot but 2 minutes after we get in the bouncer who knows us tells us that the manager told him we have to go and he doesn't understand why since we're here all the time. We asked if maybe we could talk to her and get the misunderstanding fixed and he said said with the way that she is it would be pointless and to try another time. We found out her name is Tiana and I do have an uneasy feeling it may be more than just my friends simple question. Maybe if she had explained her reasons for not doing to instead of attacking us it would have been resolved within 5 seconds but we ended up getting booted from our regular bar from years. read more
