    Wedge Salad
    Katie K.

A friend recommended this place, while I was in town on business. It did not disappoint! I sat at the bar, the bartenders were super attentive and helpful. They have a variety of beers that are their own brand as well as others. No cocktails. Beer and wine only. I got the wedge salad, and hot damn, those little crispy onions rings on there were fire. I also got the brisket Reuben. The sauerkraut had little bits of jalapeño. The brisket was super tender. Nom Nom Nom! This is such a cool spot. They have outdoor seating right on 8th, so you can people watch to your hearts delight. I definitely recommend.

    BLT with side of Coleslaw

I had the ale house BLT with a side of coleslaw. It was delicious and the coleslaw was extra good. You won't be disappointed. Great selection of beer too.

The price to food ratio was perfect. I didn't feel like I was over spending for too little of food. The chowder was just filling enough I didn't feel weighted down and the salad was fresh and light, the perfect balance. I wish I had ordered more dressing just because it was a little light for my personal taste but overall it was well worth it.

Let's just start off with this is going to be a long review. I have visited this place twice now and both times have been absolutely great. My first time my server was Jeff and I had lunch, which was a beer and spicy Lamberger, which was supposed to be medium rare. The lamb burger had definitely a good kick to it, but was about medium medium well. But I'm not holding that against this place because the burger tasted absolutely phenomenal. The second visit I went with a large party and we all were pretty enthusiastic with our conversation. Our server name was Kierstan. She did an amazing job handling our whole table. The table start off with appetizers of wings, as well as chips and salsa for the whole table. Multiple drink drinks were ordered and she handled that with care. We all ordered lots of food, which I ordered the focaccia bread Sammy with the poutine side. Both orders were absolutely delicious. The bathroom was immaculate and the cooks cooked very cleanly and both servers did a great job at two different times. Great job to Jeff and Kierstan because Bittercreek is better because they have you. I highly recommend this place as an alehouse many beers on tap and in bottles. The menu is deep with lots of flavor and options.

    Spicy Lamb Burger

They did their BIG ONE with the spicy lamb burger and the side Caesar w/ the freshly grated parm. Service was great, we came in with 10 min left for happy hour and was able to snag two drinks each while the deal was still running (our waiter was clutch for that) and the restaurant had a homey feel to it! Yum yum yum

Bittercreek Alehouse gets shocking stellar reviews. But it's just not a great restaurant. It's located in a popular tourist area and it's relatively easy to find a table. But the food is quite a letdown. The poutine features a very heavy gravy that is too overpowering, not to mention lacking the authenticity of a good Canadian poutine. The only redeeming quality were the cheese curds. The fries were tasteless and extremely disappointing for a region that prides themselves on potatoes. And while the burgers are incredibly creative, they lack quality.

Food was fantastic and I loved the vibe. Our waiter was slow and I had to ask him several times for Splenda for my iced tea. That said, we'll be back. The alfresco dining experience was fabulous, even on a warmer day. I'll bet the evening experience is amazing. The menu is wonderful. They locally source all of their products which I love!!

strawberry rhubarb pie - it sucks
    Michael J.

Bittercreek was.. bittersweet. The Good: mostly friendly service, great beers on tap, good music playlist over speaker, nice patio with open windows, and open seating. The grilled cheese and tomato soup was solid. The Bad: We sat quickly thanks to the open seating, but the service is slow. Also, while I did mention the service was friendly above, that applied to the female servers. There was one male server/greeter who was extra spicy with people. It was close to last call, and he was turning down a lot of folks from sitting down or ordering a drink. Yet others had just sat down and were still going to get their order taken soon. My wife and I had been at our table for about 20 minutes before last call, yet later he came by saying "Didn't I tell you it was last call and to not sit down?". Sorry sir, you have me mistaken with another white guy that you turned down. The Terrible: The strawberry rhubarb pie is a complete disaster. It literally tastes like a frozen pie from the grocery store that they took out and defrosted before serving. It's cold. The filling tastes like unfrozen strawberry puree, and the crust is completely hard. The pie is also mentioned in two places, but they don't list it the same way. On the dessert menu, it mentions the pie with an almond cookie on top. But on the full food menu, the pie doesn't mention the cookie. I'll save you time and tell you that it does not come with a cookie on top. Overall, had I came on a night with quicker servers, and didn't order the pie, this probably would have been a win in my book, but unfortunately, it was very mid.

Stopped in to enjoy the best of Boise specials. Great outdoor venue and the food was quick even though they had a huge crowd. The poutine and sandwich was very tasty. The staff was very attentive and cordial.

    Fried Ballard Curds
    Chelsea B.

The location is on a walking street only so it took us some time to find it as we were visiting the area. They have an amazing patio that was large enough we could park our stroller while we had lunch. The cheese curds are a MUST GET! We got two different sandwiches, both were amazing but the French dip really stood out to me. The side salad was good but their fries are amazing!

Black Bean and Sweet Potato Burger
    Tariq M.

Bittercreek Alehouse is a gem--hands down one of our favorite spots in Boise. We ordered the black bean and sweet potato burger, fish and chips, Caesar salad, and fried Ballard curds, and every single bite was spot-on. The veggie burger was seriously impressive--flavorful, hearty, and satisfying without trying too hard to imitate meat. The cod in the fish and chips was beautifully cooked and full of flavor, and the coleslaw on the side was a refreshing surprise: crisp, tangy, and--blessedly--free of that usual sugary dressing so many places lean on. Even the small details felt thoughtful and balanced. The fried cheese curds were golden, gooey, and addictive, and the Caesar salad was fresh with just the right bite of anchovy. Everything came out hot, well-plated, and perfectly paced. Our server was kind and attentive, checking in on us regularly and always with a warm, genuine attitude. When we asked for Tabasco and malt vinegar, she brought them without hesitation, along with a few other sauce options--just another example of the thoughtful service that makes this place shine. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy with a lively energy that doesn't overwhelm. Bittercreek hits that sweet spot between casual comfort and elevated pub fare--and they do it with consistency and care. We'll absolutely be back.

Amazing food! We ordered to go from the bar; bartender was excellent! After I ordered the bacon Mac-n- cheese I second guessed myself because I thought it would be salty, but I was wrong. The smoked Gouda was amazing. $20 bratwurst but no regrets especially since came with the most delicious potato salad. Don't expect traditional potato salad here. Highly recommend this place!

    Warm Pretzel and Mustard sauce.

I'm not necessarily a trendy Craft Brew guy. I know what I like and usually it's not what is super popular at most Brew Pubs I have been to. These folks made it easy for me to try some Beers I and up quite pleased to be enjoying! See the photos for a list. I like a chewy beer with some heft to it, yeah they got some of that here! They also have some super well executed menu choices too. When you walk into a place that is really hopping' on a Tuesday you expect it to be good but this went even further! Some standout items for me were the Pretzel appetizer. Hot soft and perfectly paired with some light and zippy mustard that was a perfect match for my beer choices. The Crispy Fish Tacos were also excellent, but them beans.... They call them Drunken Black beans. I like Black Beans when they are done right. Most spots try to use them as a Vegan item which means no animal fat- means no flavor! Sorry thems facts! Not here! They were Superb! The highlight of the meal! Yes because it's the simple things done properly! Will definitely be back around.

The lettuce and veggies in the salad were incredibly fresh and crisp, and it was tossed in a delicious, Greek-style dressing that complimented the dish perfectly. With its varied menu and delicious happy hour selection this place could be a favorite for a wide variety of the local population. Classy, welcoming with engaging staff. While the selections of taps are diverse and smart for diners, it is the kitchen that is the real star here. We tried the Happy Hour fare (3-5 pm). See the pics for details. We also tried the Kobe sliders, but they fell short of the Chicken Sliders with their tender, juicy cuts of breast. The lineup of drinks are on full display at the bar and with scannable menus. This is a solid place for bringing friends or family for a gathering - yes, like the name suggests "Common". If anyone in your group cannot find a drink and meal to their liking, then you need to replace that person from your social circle or family. 2 hour free parking directly behind the building makes this location much better than the downtown businesses in the liberal ghetto of Boise where they will soon tax the air you breathe. Here, the pricing will not require you to take out a second mortgage as the Boise elites would have you do for eating in their downtown. It is no surprise that more quality dining places are opening in cities like Eagle, Caldwell, Nampa and Meridian where Idahoans can enjoy life.

I don't know that I have ever given a brewery a 5 Star review...this makes sense!…read more I have been doing my little Fish & Chips search through Boise and I will have to say, this place is Hands Down the best yet that I have found! Now I have been here a few times and I like the place. The service is good, especially in the bar. The place is very open and has great light and fresh air which I always love. Add to that some great food and creative cocktails and you have a winner! They have a great Old Fashion that is a creation of one of the bartenders and I think is just a fantastic drink! Balanced flavor, a little sweet but not too sweet...with a nice bourbon finish to it! Now back to the Fish & Chips...I have had them twice now, with the same cocktail to chase them down. These are what Fish & Chips are meant to be. The batter is light with a great crunch, not heavily breaded but a light flavorful batter! Fries are good, home-made tartar sauce which always hits...and all the items you want with them...lemon, vinegar and for me mustard! I will be back, over and over again. for a drink, some good service and the best Fish & Chips when I am having that craving! KT

To start, I tried the Pickletini. As a fan of pickle-forward drinks, I found it "not bad"--a solid choice if you enjoy that briny profile. My fiancé opted for the All Ways Down Double IPA flight. At 9% ABV, it was a heavy hitter, but he really enjoyed the intense hop aroma and flavor provided by the Cryo Hops. For my main, I ordered the TNT Sando (Tri-Tip with bacon jam and garlic aioli) on Gaston's grilled focaccia. I requested it without pickles, and it was excellent. I paired it with the Black Bean and Veggie soup, which was a standout--perfectly delicious with a nice "zing" to it. Unfortunately, the meal hit a significant snag with my fiancé's Fish & Chips. The beer and cornmeal tempura batter was extremely thick (nearly 3/4 of an inch in some spots) and the fish was overcooked. Additionally, the blue cheese dressing on his side salad was very runny and tasted off. It was disappointing enough that we had to send it back. We replaced it with The Spicy Italian pizza. This was a total 180--it arrived looking beautiful, and the combination of the meats, pepperoncinis, and hot honey was absolutely delicious. Our server, Casey P., was generally good and attentive, though we did have to wait to start our meal because we weren't initially provided with napkins or silverware. A minor note on the atmosphere: the table we were seated at had "gay" carved into the wood, which felt a bit out of place for the professional vibe of the rest of the establishment. Overall, the TNT Sando, the pizza, and the beers are worth coming back for, but the kitchen consistency on the fried items definitely needs some work.

It took a bit seeing that we didn't have a reservation but we did get seated on the patio. Now I will say the service was not great but it was not an issue for the most part, I thought our waitress did a good job she was just really busy! What I will judge was the wait and the food! I love the fact they care about their ingredients, what they use and where they get it...it showed in some ways! What I didn't love was the fact they absolutely sucked on the follow through! I had the crab eggs Benedict...now I remember from culinarily school that hollandaise sauce is hard, but making it without it breaking is a MUST! Now the part that I really didn't like...she paid, she is not my baby momma, love of my life but not mother of my daughter...and she paid the whole bill!! She should not have been charged for the Frittata...it took forever to get the right one and then she didn't eat much of it at all, we were done time wise and it was not good...very bland and rubbery!! She wouldn't let me complain since she was paying, she is so sweet and kind, just that kind of person! I was tempted to quietly track down the manager...but didn't! Should have! Over all, don't think I would go back! When your kitchen can't make simple sauces and the basics, why should I give you my money?? Or hers! The manager owes her a gift card! KT
