Our group ended up going here for a trivia night that was being put on. So we ordered a bunch of drinks and sat and played trivia. It was a lot of fun, but the drinks were normal and every time we walked past this place besides the trivia night it's always been kind of dead. I give it four stars cause the bathroom is a little bit dirty and it was not clean and took a little while to get our checks. I was in town for a week and had to try a different place every night. This place got Thursday night. Very nice place. It's a small little pub, but a friendly place. There was a very small crowd there when I stopped in, so I had great service all night. The bartender was observant and helped out everyone very quickly throughout the evening. I had fish and chips and they arrived hot and steamy in a very large pile. Oh, sure, I ate all of them, but I might have regretted that a little later in the night. What a great lunch with awesome service and good selection of tvs, beers, and spirits! We were seated quickly, just ahead of the downtown lunch rush, and had drinks within a couple minutes . The menu is nice but not overwhelming and there are plenty of options for everyone. Had to go with fish and chips and the wife went fish sandwich. As soon as mine came out, I knew it was a winner. It's clear to see they hand bread their fillets and make the extra effort on their tartar sauce. I was so impressed, and finally feel like I've had a good fish and chips in Boise (reasonably priced). The burger was juicy and the bacon crispy. Fries were a little over seasoned but they were perfectly crispy....but wished there were more. I literally cannot wait to have this again. Downed that meal with a beautiful blonde beer off tap - lovely. Chicken Tacos: Kind of a surprise with the shredded beer braised chicken instead of grilled, but the cilantro slaw and crema bring out this freshness where the chicken seems a little heavy. This comes with three, so it's a big meal but incredibly delicous. Fish & Chips: This is your typical fish and chips flare - my husband said it was one of the best he's ever had. I've been to Taphouse twice now, once for a late lunch on a Saturday, and once for a Sunday football game. I like the food and appreciate the large selection of local beers, but was disappointed when I learned their TVs are all locked on Sundays. To me, sports bars are a place to watch out of network games and other events I can't view at home and being able (within reason) to request my team's game on a nearby TV is crucial. We did end up staying since we had a tv that was okay for those of us who were really into watching but I'm not sure the best way to work with this in the future as Taphouse gets busy and it's best to arrive early, when you may not know what tv will show a particular team's game. The wings here are fantastic though. We had multiple sauces and all were great flavors on well-crisped wings. We also split a quesadilla, this was good but Id choose the wings over it. The chicken tacos are flavorful and larger than expected and fries are hot and crispy, just wish there was a little more TV flexibility. read more

Being a self proclaimed Connoisseur of all things fish taco, I had to give it a go. Three grilled Cajun whitefish tacos I'm a slightly crispy flour shell found their way to our table. It was topped with a cabbage style dry slaw drizzled with a chipotle aioli sauce. And a Chile mango pick salsa. Now the taste test. Bravissimo! The flavors blended well, yet each stood out with every bite. The flour tortilla held together well and was not overly crunchy or soft. Very nice change of pace for the fish taco genre. The chips and salsa appetizer was very good, but the chips seemed slightly on the stale side. The salsa was very good as it had a blend of sweet (mango?) and spice.
