Fish and chips were a miss. Good breading but the fish had a lot of veins and fishy parts even for being fish :-) BUT...... the hand cut fries were excellent! Service was attentive and quick. Still in the Boise area and brewery #311 for me! SWPFTD and I stopped into Cloud 9 for a snack and a beer. Cloud 9 is in a corner of a strip mall with a patio area out front as well as seating inside. I ordered up a flight by specifically adding three beers and leaving the last up to "beer tenders choice". The jasmine Pilsner which was the beer tenders choice had great flavor. Light and smooth all the way. One of my choices was the Scottish heather ale. I expected a darker beer but it was quite light. I'm not sure if it tasted like heather as I'm not sure what heather tastes like. That said this was a really good beer. I also went with the honey basil ale. There was no mistaking this as the basil aroma and flavor was obvious. Basil could easily be overpowering but even though it was obvious it was too much. Lady in my flight was the salted caramel stout I didn't specifically get salted caramel out of this but it was smooth and definitely in the sweet side. I like this beer. I decided to revisit the Scottish heather ale and had a pint. Just as tasty as the first time! SWPFTD went with the American amber which was a great amber. We also needed a snack but didn't want to spoil dinner too much so we went with an appetizer of meatballs with a sliced baguette. Three generously sized meatballs in a spicy marinara sauce was just what the doctor ordered. We polished that off quickly. Really good. Cloud 9 is well worth your time. All the beers we had were legit and if the other food options are anything like the meatballs then all of that is too. Out of the other craft beer places near us, we chose Cloud 9 specifically for the street tacos their online menu boasted. Turns out they were out of tortillas -- despite the fact that there was a supermarket literally across the street that they could have walked to and bought more tortillas. The beer menu was diverse and the beers we got to taste were o.k. The server was really, really nice but didn't come to see if we wanted a refill until we were done eating, so we chose to leave instead. Lots of potential at the place, but like many small businesses Cloud 9 relies too much on a vibe and winds up shooting itself in the foot on service. read more

I can always find something here! I normally go with the veggie sandwich but I switch around a bit and have yet to be disappointed. When the weather is nicer, enjoy the patio and in the colder months, thankfully they expanded (years ago) to offer more space for eating. It can get packed so there is likely to be a wait on the busier days. Service and food tends to be on par most days but the best is when it is a bit busier (afternoon/early evening). I love that there are so many gluten free and veg options indicated with the symbols on the menu. When I have friends in town that have different dietary needs, I always add Cloud 9 to the list of food options because I know they will have something for everyone. Parking plenty! read more

This shopping center has some really great restaurants and shops that have been here for decades! I loved going to Cloud 9 Brewing but I was in a brief conundrum on what beer to get here. They had a Breakfast Stout, a Ginger Dunkel, an Earl Grey Stout, Honey Basil and a Dandelion Ale. It was a brief amount of torture as to what I was going to get but a taster tray was an option so I got to try all those delightful beers. And they were all delightful. I can't really say which one I liked best but if I absolutely had to make a choice I think it would have been the Earl Grey Stout as it tasted great and I have an abundant fondness towards the tea. But all of the beers were creative and experimental in nature than one many breweries do and therefore Cloud 9 gets five stars with ease there. Also I got a bite to eat, something light... a garden salad which was wonderful ! Very fresh and enjoyable from beginning to end. I highly recommend Cloud 9 when in Boise! read more

They have LOTS of tasty delicious gluten free options! However beware that the gluten free burger comes DRY with no condiments on it. And then if you ask for fry sauce for it- you are charged $.50 We found this place on Yelp and I was so excited for their flourless chocolate cake, but then when I got here realized the photo on yelp was 10years old. And the flourless cake wasn't an option anymore. Disappointing! but the chicken tortilla soup, and chicken street tacos were good! The bathrooms had the sinks to wash your hands OUTSIDE of the bathrooms, which was weird and grossed me out as the interior door handles have to be riddled in all sorts of nasty germs and there were no paper towels or anything except TP to use to open it with. The highlight before I even had a single beer / flight was the server Michael as well as a another bar patron who gave me an amazing taste overview of one of the beers I was considering. She was spot-frigging on with this Imperial Stout FYI... All the beers were great but Micheal wisely reconmended the Goat/Sheep cheese skewers for me and they were da BOMB!!! Food was pretty good (not amazing but above mediocre), but the service was pretty dang bad ): Most noteworthy, my husband ordered a beer and they brought out a HALF glass and said "the tap just gave out, you can choose a half pour of something else"... uhhhh either just say your out and he needs to choose a different beer or give us the half on the house and let him pick a different beer? SUCH an odd way to handle that situation. I would give less stars but im choosing to believe it was an off night for the staff. We will give it one more try to see if we have a different experience! I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Cloud Nine Brewery was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to speak up. The food and drinks were fine, but the real issue is the management -- or lack thereof. The disorganization and unprofessionalism were obvious from the start. Staff seemed frustrated and overwhelmed, and it was clear they weren't getting any real support from whoever is in charge. I came in expecting a relaxing time and left frustrated by the poor communication, long waits, and an overall feeling that no one really cared about the customer experience. Stopped in for a few beers and apps with friends last weekend. Really nice wide selection of beer styles, I opted for the blonde which was very tasty. Their food menu looks amazing and a very wide selection for a brew pub. Opted for some rings and fries. Both were very good and the hidden surprise was the ranch, not sure if they make it in house but is quite excellent. Our server was very attentive along with being pleasant. First time visit to Cloid 9 brewery yesterday after a shopping excursion at the mall. We searched for a place we had not visited yet, and yours truly wanting a beer chose to drive here. This is a nice smaller brewery in a strip mall tucked back in the corner next to the fitness place. Is it ironic to sit outside enjoying a beer while others work out? Nahhhhhhh I had a burger accompanied by their hand it fries while the wife enjoyed a Kale Caesar's salad. My burger was cooked very nicely and the brioche bun was as fresh as it could be. The fries.......I wish we could make fries like this at home.....we're golden and crisp, and the homemade ketchup complimented them very nicely. And I rarely use ketchup. Lara's salad with the chicken was also well Prepared. The chicken had a great flavor. Beer. They had about 8 beers on tap. One IPA was out, so only had a chance to try the one. Beer was a mellower IPA but was nice to savor on a hot day. Finished the meal With the Breakgast Stout. This too was very smooth with a great coffee after taste. Met a friend for a beer and some snacks. Had pulled pork sliders. OMG! Dressed up fries. Decadent and even the small order is huge....sent some home to folks who weren't as lucky as us. Laughing. Came with a friend last night and had a great experience. We appreciated the wide array of gluten free food and drink options, something that's a requirement for her. We each had a craft root beer, and I tried a sip of the house-made ginger ale as well. Both are great non-alcoholic drink options! We then opted to split a Mac and cheese with a side of fries. Splitting it gave us each a perfect amount of food. The Mac and cheese is incredible and has a crispy GF breadcrumb topping. Oh my God how did I almost Miss this Brewery?!? I mean I know how I almost missed it, it's ever so slightly away from downtown. However, the notion of good food and good beer and a souvenir pint glass had me walking the 6 blocks in the humidity and heat to get to it. I'm so glad I did! Don't be fooled by the location inside of a commercial center. It's local it's craft and it's amazing. The tap room and restaurant inside are nice and cool, and have a really home spun feel about them. Not once did I get a too cool for you vibe, which is my pet peeve as a tourist visiting local breweries. From the moment I walked in Alex, the bartender was welcoming friendly and inviting. Great conversation, and service!!! He recommended their seasonal IPA which I thoroughly enjoyed. Their menu is extensive and has a little bit of something for everyone. They are beer list is fantastic. You can tell that there is a lot of love going into this Brewery. I also had a small house salad with honey pear vinaigrette (not a big fan of the dressing), but my experience was great overall. The presentation of my meal was lovely--I love when chefs show a little creativity. My friends enjoyed their food too. The one who got the BLAT said that sandwich was a little empty and he wished they'd stuffed more with the bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato, but they loved their soups and the one who got the banh mi sandwich was very satisfied. read more

Great find, after a long day on the road I just wanted a beer (the Scottish Heather they had on tap was just the thing) but only one alcoholic beer (they had the Athletic hazy IPA NA for my second beer. Amy was an amazing server who fussed over my pup and made me feel very welcome (I've been on the road with this mutt for days, but didn't feel very welcome at other stops, so this was wonderful). This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Boise! I have been in this area pretty often because I have a small obsession with Janjou next door haha. After several trips to janjou I noticed Cloud 9 and quickly put it in my list of places to try. I've come twice with my family and both times were tasty and the service was fantastic. Going anywhere with kids can be chaotic, but we always feel welcomed at cloud 9 with our crew. The sliders and apple pecan salad are SO fresh, and SO GOOD. Food here is top notch! Beer is mediocre. Fun little brewery in the north end. The blue cheese and bacon fries are a must for sharing. Our go to for meals are the Korean Cod Tacos. They are delicious. They have a small patio out front, 2 bar tops and tables through the restaurant. Service is always great here too. While visiting my son and family in Idaho we ventured off to sample some of the local beer scene. I stayed a week and it was a mission of ours. We stopped in here to start our taproom pub crawl. We ordered 2 of their in house brewed Double IPA's. We ended up having 2 each as it was the one beer style they had we really liked. We also ordered cheesesteaks with fries. I upgraded mine to the blue cheese kind. Great decision! The food was very good for pub food. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and they had a couple of good hot sauces with homemade ketchup. They have a beertender that is soo cute. We couldn't take our eyes off of her. Petite brunette with the pretties eyes ever. Yep, she had a ring on it so she's taken damn it. She was very friendly, answering our questions about places she'd drink if not here. We were doing some recon honest lol The place she let us know was good was unfortunately closed at thaat time but we were thankful anyways. When I am back in the area we will definately be back. Nano brewery and brew pub with small menu of items made from mostly organic and sustainable ingredients with friendly people working there and an "all are welcome here" vibe has limited indoor seating and outdoor patio for drinking and dining in nice weather located in a strip mall in the North End. There were many things to like here, Were I of the neighborhood I might make this a regular stop. In fact on the day of my hubby's and my late lunch visit to Cloud 9 it seemed as if the fifteen or so folks who were present when we arrived and the dozen or so still present when we left who ranged in age from toddlers to septuagenarians seemed to be neighborhood folks. We can see why this could be a convenient and welcoming gathering place for them. But it would not necessarily be a destination place for us again. Here's why: *Although the food was a good value (lunch for two plus two root beers was only about $21) and good enough in flavor it was not so good as to make us want to go back for food alone. As example, some of the salad greens had seen fresher days but the salad dressing was delicious. The sweet potato soup was good but not better than I can do at home. *We don't drink beer, so that wouldn't be our destination draw here and while their house brewed root beer was interesting enough, it was not so interesting that we'd have it again. It was also served too warm, nearly room temperature. *While the servers, two on duty and one tended bar as well, were friendly the service ws so inefficient that even with arrival just before 2:00 and few orders coming out of the kitchen, it seemed folks there were mostly enjoying libations, it took well over an hour for lunch. Much of the time spent waiting to have our order taken and then waiting on the soup and salad and simple sandwich to come out of the kitchen. So while we're unlikely to return ourselves as destination and not sure we'd recommend it to others as destination, we would recommend this as convenience if you're in the neighborhood anyway. THIS N THAT 1) PARKING: Ample amount in strip mall lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and all on one floor. Standard height tables line the wall. 3) MINORS: Welcome to be seated at tables but not at bar seating. 4) PATIO: Seemed pretty nice to us but our server said they were improving it to add bench seating around the perimeter and replace the currently rented tables and chairs with something more hip. 5) TIMING IS EVERYTHING: Noting some reviewers talk about packed house here, if you're looking for lots of open seating, mid afternoon, like 2:00-ish is a good time for few people. 6) GREAT NEIGHBOR: Janjou Patisserie is right next door. It's kind of funny that it has taken us two years to make it over to Cloud 9 Brewery. We visit this shopping center often because on of our favorite Mediterranean restaurants is here, so we never look further. Today however, we were in the mood for something different, and popped into Cloud 9. I would sum up this place as a Brewery that happens to serve food. While we are not beer drinkers, we still frequent pubs looking for those places that have good pub food. The food here at Cloud 9 was just ok. Nothing was bad, but rather everything was very typical, and kind of bland. I ordered the house burger, and my wife ordered the chicken pesto sandwich. I ordered the burger medium-well, and it came back just barely medium. The patty was super thick, and with everything piled on it, it stood like 3 to 4 inches tall. Biting into the burger is a challenge, and when I did I found the meet to be very bland and not seasoned at all. I know some people like their burgers this way (thick-juicy-meaty), but I prefer thinner patties, nicely seasoned, from good beef. The bun, veggies, and condiments were fine, but overall it was a very typical pub burger. My wife commented similarly that her pesto chicken was also kind of bland, and nothing special. The service here was great, and the outdoor seating was nice on a pleasant day. It seemed like a nice, friendly environment, where families and friends come to meet. In that regard, it was very pleasant. So maybe this is a great place to sample freshly brewed organic beer, and if you enjoy that, you can get a little something to eat too. Cloud 9 is an awesome name. And, if you order their Bleu Cheese Fries, it's not only an awesome name, it's apt. Came here on a Thursday night for a UYE I organized where 8-10 people were expected. They don't take reservations, so I got there a 1/2 hour early to try to get enough seating for us all. The two servers who were working were so completely lovely and accommodating--as the place began to fill and I'm by myself hoarding a table for 8. Seriously. I realize in a place this small, my table saving wasn't terribly convenient and so I really appreciated their understanding. So, having said that--I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place if you've a large group. They've only just recently opened and word has spread quickly, as they are standing room only on most Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights. But, my people, great energy abounds in this place. It's a true neighborhood joint hidden in the back of the strip mall by the original Albertson's. And, though I'm not a beer drinker, my main dining companion is a big fan of their salted caramel stout. Their food menu isn't expansive but what is there is quality and farm to table fresh. Plus, not to look like a complete dork to all you beer drinkers--but their nano-brewed root beer is pretty dang fabulous. Really! Even for grown-ups. What else? I did mention the fries drenched in creamy bleu cheese sauce and topped with bleu cheese and bacon crumbles? And, it's ability to transport you directly to the metaphorical Cloud 9, while you sit in the literal Cloud 9? Then, my people, I have nothing more to say.
