Brand new place (less than 1 month)! Restaurant is in a small strip mall, and had minimal decor, but smells amazing from the minute you walk ib the door. The food is made with care and authenticity. The chai and mango Lassi are fantastic, fish madras had the perfect texture, and lamb Rogan Josh was delicious. Chicken Tikka was a little too sweet and lacking some spice. Everything is made better by the care and attentive service of the staff, who clearly take pride in their restaurant. Looking forward to coming back. read more

Fantastic Indian food in a casual setting. Each dish is slow cooked, and made to order, not like some Indian restaurants where you know many of their dishes were made in advance. Their bao buns are a fantastic must try! as the owner said, they are not cooking for bland American tastes, but are serving authentic Indian food like you would find in Mumbai. I was attending a show at The Wellmont Theater with 2 friends and we wanted to have dinner in Montclair. We live in northern Ocean County and our Indian food options are limited. We chose Mumbai Maskaa based on reviews here. We were not disappointed and highly recommend this small authentic restaurant. First the service was excellent! The host/waiter/server made sure that the spiciness level was to our satisfaction. The food was delicious- we had the Samosas which came in a homemade pastry. A large portion for a samosa- 1 per person was perfect. The Gobhi Manchurian had a slight crispy texture in a delicious sauce. We split the Tandoor Trio which was tender chicken with 3 distinct spice blends, Chana Masala and Chicken Biryani. Every dish was fabulous. This restaurant is worth the trip. If you are like my friends and I from outside the area and looking for good authentic Indian food then visit Mumbai Maskaa. read more

this narrow, but pleasant Indian restaurant is situated at the end of a strip mall. The food was good, but I think when we went, they were probably not open that long. Service was a bit slow. We brought our own wine, as we usually do with restaurants without liquor licenses. Then we were told that they don't have a license to allow people to bring their own alcohol. The owner said it's an ordinance in Montclair. he was very nice and apologetic but we really like to have some wine with dinner when we are out. Never heard of that as we have been to countless restaurants in New Jersey without liquor licenses and have always brought our own. Maybe it's a quirk of the town. We called a few weeks later and they said that they now have that license. we will probably go back as we do love Indian food and this was pretty good. Hopefully the service has improved as they ironed out the wrinkles of a new restaurant. read more

I need to add to my review.....this is a total jewel tucked in Montclair. It certainly is my favorite restaurant in this area. The family and I dined there on Monday nite. The food is just so amazing and masterfully made to perfection. The decor is quite simple....but the smell of fine Indian cooking is tantalizing as you walk in the door. The staff is extremely accommodating,friendly and informative, explaining any questions you may have. The appetizers are pure perfection also.
