Mr. Tandoor on S. Livingston Ave is our new favorite local Indian restaurant. It gets 5 stars for both dine-in and takeout! My husband and I had a weekend date night dinner at Mr. Tandoor a few weeks ago. We ordered veggie samosa and mixed veg pakora for appetizers. The chutneys that came along were flavorful and really good. For entrees, we ordered mix veg tandoori and bhatan baigan (eggplant) with a side of garlic naan. It was delicious. Since that dine-in, we've ordered takeout and Mr. Tandoor knocked it out of the ballpark. I enjoyed my somosa chaat, plain naan bread and chicken tikka masala today. Hot, fresh, flavorful - all delicious. Will definitely return! Only reason for not giving 5 stars - a bit slow during lunch hour. Will have to give myself more time for my next lunch visit. read more

Really enjoyed this place and would absolutely come back! We had the dal Bukhara, the lamb kadai, the bhindi masala and chicken biryani. The dal was my absolute favorite, deeply seasoned and not too spicy. The bhindi masala tasted different to what we were used to but it was still delicious and had a bit of sweetness. Chicken biryani was good as well. The lamb kadai was too spicy for me so I think there was just some difficultly assessing with the waiter what level of spice works for different palates. We also got garlic naan which was great. The prices were good, the serving sizes were great and we had a good amount of left overs. Overall, I think this is a quality establishment and I would be curious to try some of the more popular dishes. The venue itself is spacious and parking is convenient. Great food. New-ish restaurant from the Basil South Orange and Parsippany Tandoor Chef banquet hall. Tomato coconut soup is delicious, spicy and creamy like a masala. Goat sukha app is pretty big. Flavorful. Not too oily. Lots of big bones. Chaat. Good lunch spot in Livingston. Salmon tikka is tasty but a little dry. You can easily miss it from the main road. They also deliver and do take out. First time at Mr Tandoor, we came in as a big group of 15 people. Was happy to hear that livingston has an Indian restaurant. The owner was kind enough to arrange a table for all of us on short notice. I wish I took more pictures, but it's a sign of good food and hungry people. We ordered plenty of appetizers from pakoda, paneer, chicken kebab, lamb chops, malai chicken and more. For main, we ordered goat curry, mutton curry, mutton biryani, chicken curry, paneer curry, bread basket. The food was delicious, hot and spicy, service was quick and prompt. They also made specific dishes milder for younger kids on the table. I will surely come back again, and remember to take pictures ! A friend of mine raved about Mr. Tandoor for quite a while, and when our schedules had availability, we came here for dinner. We ordered spicy paneer, lamb vindaloo, and butter chicken. The food was decent. It is absolutely a good deal price wise, as the other Indian restaurants I have been to charge materially more for all of the items we ordered. The staff was very nice and our food came out timely. The portions were enormous. My friend and I both took home leftovers. Taking off a star because if I remember correctly, there was something going on with their ceiling lights when I came here. I am fairly sure the lighting fixtures just needed to be replaced, and I hope that they resolved this issue. A nice addition to Livingston, and I am glad to see a new business in the area helping to diversify local food options. read more

Mr. Tandoor is insanely good. My husband and I ordered takeout a bunch of times and just tried it in person. We got the Garlic Naan, Mixed Grill, and Chicken Korma. Everything was amazing, and the service is excellent too! This will be our new staple. read more

Wow. Just wow. Ordered a wide selection of dishes for take-out dinner and was *thoroughly* impressed. Each dish was made with expertise and love and was PACKED with flavor. They clearly use top ingredients and provide VERY generous portions. It was hard to chose a favorite since every dish had its own personality, but if I had to rank our dinner I would say the Chicken Kohlapuri took the #1 spot with the Vindaloo, Lamb Korma, Paneer right behind them. The comfort of Indian food so close to home is itself an advantage and on top of it the food was yummy . First time we went a group of 15 people and the restaurant was full. We didn't know it was reservations on Friday. The manager was so nice to let us in without any reservation. Food was super tasty and yum. We ordered chicken and mutton biryani, Lamb Chops, Pakora, chicken kabobs, Bread basket so many different items. We went again two days ago and ordered some different kabobs, garlic shrimp and hariyali chicken. It was out of the world. This place is not known to many people as it is not on the road. We ordered catering from here for a party of 25 people. Specifically the items were: Gobi Manchurian - Good Paneer tikka masala - paneer was harder than a bone. I called to place an order for pickup and there was no answer, so I figured I would just drive over and then sit and wait. However, before I even got there, I got a call back, apologizing for missing the call. I thought this was very impressive service. The food was ready exactly when promised, and all (5) items were very delicious, and the portions were large. We have quite a bit left over. However, my wife, who doesn't have much tolerance for spice, found it too spicy for her. My 17 and 23-year olds and I all found it fine, though. We are not south Asian and so can't speak to authenticity, but the food was really excellent and the portions very generous. We had chicken Tikka, chicken Hasan, Naan and vegetable samosa. There was a lot of chicken in both dishes and it was soft and moist. The food was just as we ordered it and was hot and ready at pickup time. It also well packaged. So nice to be 5 minutes away from such a gem. Their location is a little hard to find but it's worth the effort. read more
