My order was just chicken biryani, chicken tikka marsala and two appetizers. Nothing too special for an Indiana restaurant, but I waited for more than half an hour! It happened to me three years ago. WORST RESTAURANT EVER!! FRAUDULENT!! I would give negative stars if I could. I ordered the lunch special with Hariyali chicken. They gave me some chicken curry that was NOT Hariyali chicken. The taste wasn't anything extraordinary. The fact that they thought they could get away with serving the same chicken curry with different names is insulting to me as a customer. They added their own tip of 15% into the bill, given the server told us she cannot make separate bills for each of us, she will make one bill for the table. And, then, they taxed over the the total with the tip, basically they taxed the tip they claimed from us without our knowledge. She did not refill our water a single time. The naan came in halfway through the meal, and it was supposed to be a full naan, they gave us four small pieces that would together make a quarter of a whole naan. read more

The restaurant has as a nice surprise indo-Chinese with traditional Indian dishes some gluten-free and/or modifiable. My friends ordered the Chinese: dumplings, fried okra, sautéed vegetables and I ordered the tandoori chicken and lamb vindaloo. The meal was delicious and the staff super sweet. There was a celebration in the back room with a large number of Indian women wearing beautifully saree dresses. The food is alright but a bit overpriced for the quality compared to other places around boston and Cambridge. The service is meh. What really brought this place down was an unmistakable and unanswered charge labeled "gratuity 2-4" for over $10. One might expect this to be the tip already figured into the bill but this wasn't the case. At the bottom there were tip suggestions and a line asking for tip. I asked the server if this was tip or what it was in fact for and she said it was not a tip and was unsure what it was. While I knew to expect a savory flavor, as I've had some excellent namkeen lassis in NY and in India, the mint was simply overpowering. My main course for the night was a Veg Manchurian (with gravy), which was overly salted, with rather flavorless veg balls. Such high potential based on their menu! In another visit we tried the Malai kofta and the schezwan fried rice. Both were very un-appetizing. The fried rice tasted like it just had Sriracha and I was confused because it said with vegetables but I guess peas n carrots count. It was so simple and bland, I would definitely not recommend this dish on anyone. R when the waitress asked how our meal was, we said it was just ok. She suggested next time to order the Malai kofta to be made spicy. But I don't know how spice can save that dish. Overall, if you're eating here, just make a meal out of the appetizers. Mumbai Spice is a definite good choice for Indian food. It stacks up well versus many of the Indian places I have visited in cities across the country. For my first visit here I went with some of my standard Indian choices. I ordered chicken vindaloo, samosas, and garlic naan. All were spot on and compared favorably. Mumbai Spice had good and quick service. The decor was pretty basic and could have had more charm, ...but it was a clean restaurant and that counts for a lot. There was modern Indian music playing which was a nice touch. One odd thing is that there were some non-Indian Asian / Chinese items on the menu. I guess it is a good thing for those who don't like Indian that might be joining you. Anyway, bottom line is that I am a fan ...and rate Mumbai Spice 4 stars. read more

I love indochinese and we don't have many options for that here in Boston. I enjoyed their chicken lollipops and the decor is very nice inside. Definitely a good date night spot. I ordered a fried rice and garlic chicken which were okay, mediocre but I am excited to go back and try more and update this review :) EDIT: Really sad to say I had to drop my review from 4 stars to 2 after dining in for the first time instead of doing take out. The place seems incredibly short staffed and they could really use some pointers on how to make their drinks and the order in which food should be served. This place is okay. Indian food in Boston isn't generally the best, but there are some hidden gems. However, I'd classify this as average. I have tried a lot of the dishes just because it is close and convenient for me. However, nothing has stood out to me. Indochinese curries have been extra oily and lacking flavor. My usual go to's, chicken tikka and chicken saag, aren't the best here. For appetizers, I normally get tandoori chicken at indian restaurants. The chicken normally comes out sizzling at other restaurants, however here it was not sizzling and was actually cold when it arrived to our table. This leads me to believe a lot of the food is made well before hand. It is also very hard to get them to make their dishes spicy. Even when I specify extra extra spicy, food has been medium spicy. Visited this gem on a week day during lunch time out of curiosity. It was my first time in Boston plus first time eating Indian and/or Indo-Chinese cuisine and I chose this place because I could smell the mouth watering spices from outside and even down the block before I reached it. Overall, the experience was definitely one to remember and savor. The decor and ambiance was chic yet comfortable and the staff extremely attentive and patient with me especially since I had to google each dish to get an idea of what I was ordering. The food was simply amazing to say the least and proportioned perfectly! After eating every crumb my companion and I were completely satisfied and full but far from overwhelmingly stuffed.
