The meatball sub probably gets a 2 out of 5 overall. Bread was super soggy and meatball tasted frozen. For the quality, probably overpriced. The best place to go for deep dish pizza outside of Chicago! As a Midwesterner who grew up eating lots of deep dish pizza with my cousins from Chicago, I was so happy to hear when Munchies launched their version of the deep dish pizza. It's just like the real thing! I love topping it with onions and pepperoni, with maybe some sausage and mushrooms every once in a while. Ordering ahead is a must for a pizza that takes this long to cook and Munchies has their system down, so you never are kept waiting long. Munchies has amazing non-traditional pizza. While many are flocking there for the deep dish pizza, we adore the NY variety. We have gotten the specialty pizza with chicken, bacon and fries and asked for a ranch drizzle. This one was very heavy but delicious. The true star is the hit Hawaiian pizza. My husband hates the thought of pineapple on pizza but loves this one. It's chock full of bacon, jalapeños and has an incredible habanero drizzle in addition to the ham and pineapples. Munchies also has a 'rewards' system that allows you to get something for free or a discount when you sign up. It definitely encourages repeat business! read more

I was busy writing an essay for an ethics class when my stomach started to grumble. A quick google search for "food open near me" led me to Munchies Pizza. Much to my excitement, they were open until 2:30 A.M (who doesn't enjoy late-night pizza?). I ordered the first Chicago deep-dish pizza I've ever had with sausage and green peppers. The wait (~25 mins) was very reasonable given the time and the style of pizza. The only thing I have to nitpick about is the location; it's located in a rather sketchy part of town, and I was haggled for some money outside while waiting for my pizza. As I was reversing out of the lot, the man even chased my car down. However, the pizza was extremely good, and I really enjoyed the flavor of the pizza sauce complimented with the cheese and cheesy crust. Will be coming back in the future (maybe not that late next time though :)). read more

I don't have a CLUE what that one star review was about. In a town of mediocre pizza, I have finally found MY PIZZA JOINT. I haven't been inside so I can't speak to the location. I used Bitesquad. But what I can tell you is I'm picky about pizza and Munchies has now, dare I say it, become my favorite. My cheese has to have the stretch factor. That's just my personal favorite thing about pizza. I don't ever eat crust and I ate all the gooey, stretchy cheese right down to all of the crust. It's the perfect thickness. I like my pizza on the thinner side but still able to hold toppings without getting soggy and Munchies achieved this. PLUS there is some kind of buttery deliciousness that I can't quite determine on the crust which makes it PERFECT. Legit deep dish Chicago style pizza in Tallahassee. The first time I had Chicago style pizza, I was unable to eat more than one slice...same with Munchies! The box of leftovers felt like 10 lbs of cheese. Nom nom! But really, I like this place and props to the owner for finally bringing true deep dish to the area. Finally got called up from the waiting list for Munchie's deep dish pizza! It was really good and a surprisingly good value for the price. My husband usually can down at least half a pizza, sometimes 3/4s on his open. Two slices of this stuffed him. The person who took our order was so pleasant and the customer service is wonderful. The sauce was absolutely the bomb and so flavorful, sort of like a rich marinara. I think next time we'll order it a little more well done for those that like super crispy. Bit the bullet and finally ordered the Chicago deep dish supreme pizza and was not disappointed at all. All the hype about them is valid. Not just because its a deep dish and we don't have many options, but because of the quality product you get. Deep dish isn't my normal thing, i tend to like a more New York style, but this thing may change things up. Cooked perfectly, amazing sauce and ingredients....basically heaven in a pizza box. Tallahassee pizza lovers rejoice(that should be the majority of the population)! We now FINALLY have a place to get "real deal" Chicago style deep dish pizza! They are still trying to get a read on demand, so the ordering process is a bit odd...you are asked to notify them on their Facebook page(I actually don't have a Facebook account, so I actually picked up my phone and spoke to another human being) and they call you back when they have a window of opportunity. I was told that this should be going away soon if it hasn't already. They also let me know that they are in the process of opening up a second location on Apalachee Pkwy in the spot of the now defunct Bubba's Pizza under the Corner Pocket. If you haven't had the chance to try a Chicago deep dish, the best way to describe it is a traditional pizza made in reverse but about four times as thick. In my opinion, like most pizza the difference between quality is mostly in the crust. I traveled to Chicago about a year and a half ago and dined at Lou Malnati's downtown, which is widely considered the gold standard of deep dish. What made their pizza special to me was the crust. I've also dined at Pizzaria Uno and Giordano's on several occasions...both make great deep dish pies. The crust at Munchie's was very good and was even better the next day. I think it was a bit on the soft side due to the 20 minute drive home, which probably caused the pizza to steam up a bit in the box...that being said, it was still excellent. When I reheated the next day(350 degrees for 20 minutes in the oven), it was perfectly crisp. Chicago deep dish is often better the next day similar to a lasagna, all the flavors kind of congeal in a beautiful way. I kept my toppings pretty simple, pepperoni and Italian sausage. I loved how they used sliced sausage rather than the crumbled up kind most pizza places tend to use. The sauce was plentiful and very savory without being too salty. Munchies clearly made sure to dial in on a great version of deep dish before rolling it out. Now only if I can get an authentic Jewish deli for pastrami and an authentic Chicago style hot dog in Tallahassee...like Morgan Freeman said in Shawshank, "hope is a dangerous thing". read more

To all of the Chicago Deep dish pizza fans out there, stop in your tracks! This is the place for you! I have lived in SW Florida for 8 years now, and this is the first pizza I've had coming as close to Chicago Deep Dish as you can get. Matter of fact it's the best pizza overall that we've had since we've been in Florida. We came up to Tallahassee to visit my sister whom lived in Chicago most of her life before moving here. (She is definately a connoisseur of chicago style anything, but especially pizzas) She is a Giordano's fan, and also rates this pizza a 5 star! The sauce consistency is spot on, a perfect combo of sweet and tangy. (I couldn't believe the sauce was not watery at all, pleasant surprise) The veggies are fresh, not canned. The sausage was flavorful. The crust was golden, and not too doughy. The only hiccup right now is they have been so successful, these pizzas are in high demand, they can't keep up, making the wait time to be a few days out. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. Made with chicken, onion, and buffalo sauce-- a simple and perfect recipe. We immediately noticed the crust, which we found out they have a unique process for making. They cool proof the dough which results in a crispy, yet chewy crust that makes their pizza stand out from all other pie joints in town. We finished it off with their cinnabites, which are their take on cinnamon sticks. This is where you can really taste the special process they use for the dough. I'd say more like 4.5 stars. I've been saying my entire time in Tallahassee that the nearby Gumby's Pizza, which has been continually decreasing in quality, needs some competition. And here it is finally. Much better pizza, though slightly more expensive, with a buttery crust; anchovies (!!) are an available topping, a rarity in the South. Their bone-in wings are good but short of excellent. Their garlic knots are excellent. I had a cheesesteak from them in another visit that was very good though perhaps a bit small for the price although the ingredients were fresh. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for announcements of special deals. One recent one was a no-frills BOGO deal. I recommend Munchies, especially if you live or hang out in the south Frenchtown neighborhood around Poor Paul's, Bullwinkle's, the Strip, etc. read more

First time coming here and I can say I walked away satisfied. Wait time was a little slow, was told it'd be a 10-15 min wait but it actually came out to be 30 mins. However when we got to the car and actually inspected the pizza, it looked so good! Tasted even better! Got a large 16" 1 topping pizza for $10 which is a pretty good deal in my opinion.
