My husband picked up take out for us the other night. He had a chimichanga and I, the bistec ranchero. His Chimichanga was more like a burrito and not crispy at all. Flavor and quality was lacking both dishes. This usually my favorite thing to get there but the meal was as good or prepared as remembered from a past experience it had been quite some time though. I like the chips but the salsa was a little thin and guacamole needed some lime and little more salt. I can't comment on ambiance of this place because did go the restaurant this time. read more

My friends have been raving about this place for a while now, and I got to try it with them this week. We came during dinner. It was neither busy or slow in particular. Just the right amount of customers I would say. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered a tamale and a shredded beef quesadilla. I enjoyed both of them with the quesadilla being my favorite of the two. Our server was very friendly and checked on us often. He refilled our salsa but we ran out of chips to dip them in towards the end. I would say that is the one thing shy from what would have been a perfect experience here. They offer a 10% discount if you ay in cash so I would recommend having cash on hand if you can. read more

My best friend and I came here one evening to grab a quick bite. We were greeted and seated very quickly. I ordered a strawberry margarita on the rocks and the chicken fajitas. Everything came out very quickly the strawberry margarita tasted just like juice. You couldn't taste the alcohol at all. The chicken fajitas had no flavor whatsoever. I think I only ate one. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant , this isn't the one I definitely won't be back again. read more

I always get chicken fajitas, but husband has tried enchiladas (he recommends the chicken and cheese ones), chimichanga, Munoz special (chicken with Spanish rice and cheese), and steak fajitas--all great! So I have been to Munoz years ago when it first open, and at that point I was a teenager and it was delicious from what I recall. However, moving back to Pinson and going back and trying their dishes I am not as pleased. Obviously the older I am my palette changes. This visit I had the vegetarian tacos, which I was not in the mood for meat and they did not have the vegetarian fajitas like some Tex Mex places. Anyways when I got home the tacos were soggy (should have ask to provide tortillas on the side) and the veggies did not have much seasoning and was too charred for my taste which as some would know that overpowers the dish. My husband had the Chile relleno which from his standpoint it was good but not great. So overall depending on my mood and if I feel like getting some okay Tex Mex then I'll come here again. read more

My absolute favorite. Happy hour is 4-8pm M-Th and margs are $2.50 and 2 and you will be feeling the weight of the day lifted. Staff is always so kind and food excellent, hot and served so quickly. Favorite go to spot for low key drinks and dinner. #7 is cheaper than Taco Bell and did I mention the margs? Would give this place 10 stars if I could. :) They even cooked a burger and fries for my friend's son and it was also so good! Never had fries at a Mexican restaurant but was not disappointed. read more

This was my first time coming here. It was a pleasant experience. The waiter was prompt and efficient. Not too friendly but he was fine. I started off with a pina colada margarita. It was okay. Next time I will stick with the traditional lime margarita. I ordered a chimichanga with ground beef. It came with rice and beans. When the waiter brought my meal out, the chimichanga was covered in a red sauce. That was my first time having one prepared with red sauce. It's usually topped with white cheese sauce. I asked the waiter could I have cheese sauce instead and he complied without hesitation. He came back within a few minutes with the dish the way I wanted it. I love dining in, I've been eating at this location for years and always had a good experience with serving staff. However, trying to call in a Togo order any day of the week always seems to be difficult, getting left on hold for 15+ minutes is crazy, without being prompted you're being put on hold in the first place, there also seems to be an issue with the line being disconnected before anyone ever says anything. I don't know if it's just their phones or the staff they have up front. I understand restaurants have busy times, as I myself work in the industry and have for years, but the reoccurring issues I've had with togos is what prompted me to leave this review. read more

Food wasn't prepared right! I ordered a quesadilla and there wasn't any cheese on it at all! Lots of chicken but no cheese! I ordered the Quesadillas Supreme (which comes with rice and beans) I did not get either! The server( older guy) told me I didn't order the meal! The food here is just not good. We have given them multiple chances to make a good meal, but they just can't do it. The salsa is missing something, it's just very very plain. I got the fajitas and there was absolutely nothing to them... just dry meat, no spices and it was obvious the meat and veggies were just thrown on the plate before it came to me. The food is pretty good, honestly. And... at least on the surface... the pricing seems really fair. Until the bait and switch comes in. We came in during happy hour, and ordered the Happy Hour margarita, for $2.50. They brought us a medium margarita, but thought, "hey, everything else is reasonably priced, so I guess they just have a great happy hour special." Nope. They charged us for the full priced medium margarita. $10 each. So instead of $5, it was $20. For the record, TWO of the HH specials would've been a bigger cocktail than the one they brought us... so for MORE drink than we got, we could've paid $5/each on HH. When we brought this to their attention... that we had ordered HH drinks and were given and charged for full prIce drinks... which was still more than twice the price of what TWO HH drinks that would have ended up as more actual drink, to account for their product and inventory, were told that there was just "nothing they could do, sorry for the inconvenience." Talked the manager. We were offered $2 off the bill... $2, when we were paying $15 plus tax/tip more than what we ordered. Told them to just keep itt as they clearly need it more than we do. I don't know if it was an honest mistake on the servers part that the manager just utterly refused to make right, or if it was an attempt on the servers part to try to up the dollar amount of the tab. Either way... ruined a meal and ruined our, otherwise and before this, very good opinion of this restaurant. Mistakes happen. We get that. But own them, and make them right. Again... charging us even for TWO HH drinks would've halved the the price and MORE than compensated for the product/liquor tHat was consumed. And, for reference... this is coming from a 10 year food service veteran, who ALWAYS tips at least 20%... including in this instance. read more

There's no shortage of Mexican restaurants in Trussville, but in the past few months, this place has become my favorite. The main draw here for me is that they offer a few better vegetarian options than other places in the area (their vegetarian tacos are my go-to meal). The salsa is also fresher and tastier than what I've had at the other Trussville restaurants. Most entrees are within the $7-$10 range, and the portions are large. Plus, they have $2.50 specials on their 12 oz. margaritas on Monday-Thursday. They also have a nice little covered patio. My only gripe is that this place gets pretty busy for dinner, and they don't seem to turn tables over quite as quickly as say, Frontera. So be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes if you go on a Friday or Saturday night with a large group. The parking lot can be a bit headachy too. There aren't many spaces directly in front of the restaurant, so you might wind up having to park in the back of the Publix lot. This still doesn't stop me from eating here at least once every couple of weeks though. read more

The service was great. Good presentation but the taste of the food and drinks was mediocre, at best! I am Mexican and I feel the food lacked the Mexican taste that I love. The meat was not seasoned, the beans had no flavor, and the margaritas only hinted at a slight taste of alcohol and tang.
