Dave was our primary, and only contact, and he certainly ran the shop and specifically the front office. Results were typically very good. For myself, I recommended Automotive Techniques several times. After not requiring their services for a few years, I returned last year with my son's car. To my surprise, Dave was not there. In fact, no one was at the front desk. I had to find someone in the back room where 2-3 folks were watching TV. I asked, "Is Dave here?". The response was, "Dave is gone" (with a chuckle). Turns out, the gentlemen who provided an update was the owner - someone I had not met for the 15 years. "Finding" someone in the shop became the standard, as no one sat at the front desk. Moreover, it later seemed there were limited customers coming in. Which, I later did not find surprising at all. This was start of an amazingly frustrating experience which was supposed to start with a simple diagnosis of a power failure problem. Front desk was piled with paper and in disarray. Looking back to the rear office - same. Before Dave left, they switched to a new system to run the shop service operations. Because the previous customer data was not moved to the new system, there were 2 systems to look up past service for history and a new system for new service. It was clear the owner did not really know how to operate either system. He could not answer any of my questions and got frustrated quickly, waving off any inquiries. He told me to "come back" the following week to book an appointment because the entire shop was leaving for a conference. (And it was clear he did not have a handle on how to book appointments). A bad decision on my part, I did come back hoping the service would still be positive despite initial impression. Got the appointment while the owner tried to fumble through past maintenance records to determine anything else needed or problem history. After 2 days, they could not diagnose the problem I brought the vehicle in for. To me, there were not trying at all. They found another problem that they choose to focus on because it was obvious and easily fixable. The springs. I actually had to offer to drive the vehicle to try and replicate the problem because they gave up. I authorized the springs. Took 2 days to receive them for some reason. Car has now been in the shop 4 days - nothing done. Then, they could not find the wheel lock in the afternoon (they never bothered to look in advance or ask for it). I tell them it is in 1 or 2 places. They cannot find it. I come to the shop. I find it almost immediately. In the glove box like I told them. Because of the delays trying to find the wheel lock, they cannot complete the work until next day. In the end, I made probably 4 trips to the shop. Spent all kinds of time supporting the efforts on my time. They did not address the primary problem. Vehicle was in the shop for 5 days plus a weekend. Received the full bill of course for the springs and attempting to diagnose the power failure at $175/hour, no discount for all the troubles. Not even an apology or acknowledgement. Certainly an apathetic attitude throughout. Might be a technical genius when it come to fixing car, but certainly could use some assistance in running a service operations and being attentive to customer service. Needless to say, found another provider and very (very) happy with them.

I spoke with the owner and he told me that they had some issues last week and that they neglected to call me and notify me that I was not going to be able to get the repair done. Moral of the story: I spent time and money to drop off the vehicle, paid for an Uber to get home, was told that they cant help me and that they knew they couldnt last week, now I have to pay for an Uber to pick the vehicle up. I am extremely disappointed with Fox Buick GMC, particularly because I trusted this dealership for…read moreyears. I purchased my 2020 GMC Sierra new from a GMC dealer in Saginaw in 2020. Because I live in the Farmington area, I chose Sellers GMC--now Fox Buick GMC--for routine maintenance. It was convenient, but more importantly, I trusted the quality of their work and believed that if their technicians identified something affecting the condition or safety of my truck, they would clearly tell me. That trust has been severely damaged. On May 15, 2026, at 47,949 miles, I brought my Sierra to Fox for routine maintenance, including an oil change, tire rotation and inspection. I was told my tires were "showing wear." That was the extent of the concern communicated to me. I was not shown inspection photos/video, given detailed tread information, or made aware of any urgency. I left believing the tires were wearing and would need replacement sometime in the future. Several weeks later, I drove to Pulaski, Wisconsin. While there, a tire developed a slow leak and dropped to about 12 PSI. I went to Tires Plus in Green Bay expecting them to find a nail. Instead, they showed me the condition of all four tires. Their inspection found essentially the same uneven wear on all four: approximately 1/32" on the outside shoulder versus 5/32" through the center and inside. They recommended replacing all four tires and an alignment evaluation. I was shocked. Fox had just rotated and inspected these tires in May. After returning to Michigan, I went to Fox to understand what happened. THAT is when this became much more upsetting. Fox pulled up the records from my May 15 inspection and showed me photographs, video and some of the technician's documentation. The tire condition HAD been documented by Fox in May. I simply had never been shown those records or had the seriousness of the findings clearly conveyed to me. Fox acknowledged that the service advisor should have discussed the inspection findings with me. That is the heart of my complaint. I am NOT upset because 50,000-mile tires eventually needed replacement. Tires wear out. My concern is that Fox's own inspection documented information about my tires that I did not have, while I was told only that they were "showing wear." Had I been shown those May photos, had the findings been explained, or had I simply been told the tires required urgent attention before a long trip, I would have replaced them immediately. I certainly would not have knowingly driven hundreds of miles to Wisconsin and then back across Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I opened a case with GMC Customer Assistance. To GMC's credit, my representative has been exceptionally responsive and professional. GMC contacted Fox and told me Fox acknowledged that the inspection findings/photos may not have been reviewed with me at the May service. GMC also informed me that one of the inspection photos discussed with Fox showed exposed belts. GMC's representative specifically acknowledged that being told only "showing wear" did not convey the seriousness of the inspection findings. Fox offered tire price matching. That was never what I wanted. I purchased my replacement tires elsewhere. I wanted an explanation. What did the technician document/recommend in May? Why wasn't the seriousness communicated? Did the nearly identical uneven wear across all four tires warrant further evaluation? Where did the communication process fail, and what will prevent this from happening to another customer? Unfortunately, Fox's handling of my complaint has created ANOTHER communication problem. I personally returned to Fox. I communicated with the Service Manager. I emailed Fox management a detailed letter explaining my concerns. GMC Customer Assistance specifically asked Fox to proactively contact me. I received no meaningful response from Fox management. Most troubling, GMC Customer Assistance has now told me that THEY contacted Fox and have not received a response either. GMC has offered to help me transfer my service to another nearby GMC dealership. Think about that: my original complaint was that Fox failed to adequately communicate important inspection findings. After I raised that concern, Fox then failed to communicate with me about the complaint--and apparently hasn't responded to GMC Customer Assistance either. This was never about getting free tires. It is about SAFETY, COMMUNICATION and TRUST. I chose Sellers/Fox because I trusted them with my truck. My family has generations of loyalty to General Motors, and I had every intention of continuing with GMC and eventually purchasing another Sierra. I also expected Fox to be the dealership servicing my current truck and potentially selling me the next one. Now I am seriously questioning whether I can trust Fox with my vehicle at all. I don't expect a dealership to be perfect. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a business responds after discovering something went wrong.

I decided to contact NAPA corporate office to report this matter to them and they stated "All Michigan NAPA locations are independently owned and operated by franchisees and they have the option to not accept NAPA coupons even if it has their own store address on it. He also told me that he refuses to call insurance companies back because he feels it's an "insult to his intelligence" on pricing. If you have Progressive, steer clear. I will say his wife, Kathy, who was also working the office at the time, was very nice and helpful and did apologize on his behalf. I was prepared if he said he had no time for me and that would've been fine. I know how these shops can be. I met with office manager. They said it was a kind of a bad morning. I was working on a car. They went back and asked him when they came back. They said have a seat and I'll come out as soon as you can. Sat there for over an hour with my car getting rained on. Eventually just left. If they're not available to meet with you after requesting you to show up at a certain day and time there's just no value having that person as your mechanic as good as they may be or not. Office manager should've just said right off the bat. It's not a good time. I apologize and just reschedule for another time. Would've been a much more of a professional answer and I would not have had a problem with that. I'm a contractor. I know how things go sideways. My recommendation is if you're a first time client trying to get in and build a relationship and have work done. I would say Hard Pass. He's a very established automotive shop probably does a good job and it looks like he has a large client list and literally has things booked out a year and a half. If an owner doesn't have five minutes to break away for a quick meet and greet that was planned. I can only imagine what the whole service experience would be like and it's one that I'm not interested in.
