It was such a fun experience and the comedians were hilarious! (Side note: downstairs doesn't have a bar so before you grab a seat, get a drink from the bartender to bring down) The interior design is nice and the bartenders are cool. Drinks aren't too expensive and there's even a patio for outdoor seating during warmer weather. Keep an eye on their instagram for upcoming shows and ticket-purchasing directions. Their Old Fashioned is incredible. With only a rinse of simple syrup, the flavors of the whiskey and bitters really come through. Very dry, this is not a sweet drink as found in some bars. The Manhattan is similarly classic. Ice gets special attention here. When not in a rough hewn cube, it is crushed with a wooden mallet in an ice bag. Music Bingo and Trivia Nights are quite fun and what keeps me going back. It is sad though that it seems with each return visit, the service gets worse. Tonight was special because 1) I was struggling to find a server to get my initial order placed, 2) my food order is often delivered without the basics (napkins and silverware), and 3) I was never offered refills or the chance to place an additional order. What made it extra special was that one of the ladies in the group had an automatic gratuity added to her order (20%) while the rest of us were given the option to choose our tip amount. Without explanation and no forewarning. Now normally I am very generous when it comes to tipping. I recognize the hard work that goes into serving customers but with the low level of service, i didn't feel 20% was deserving. I want to like this place, especially with the "new" management, but attentive service is the most important in the industry and really has an impact on customer experience. Hopefully Toley's can do better.
