Margarita. The mix used is good and not too sweet.

The Rendezvous Restaurant, while part of the Heather Gardens community, is not just for those who live in the community and are 55+ in age. The restaurant has been through some changes in recent years and with a new cook on board, the menu seems to have some yummy choices. It was Western Night with a tribute to Johnny Cash-hilariously fun! The specials were ordered by people in my party and I opted for the black and blue burger from the regular menu-which is always available. The food is just what you would expect- tasty and reasonably priced for a sit-down restaurant. Drinks from the bar were also ordered- a margarita and wine were just fine, heavy pours were helpful :). It is a kicking place on Fridays, so yes to reservations. It's good to see the restaurant busy and many community members having fun.

Food overpriced and stale menu that hardly ever changes. You would be better served via fast food chains close-by.

The food was ok and service was good. We were there on a Friday night so they had a dj and dancing, which was unexpected fun

Even though they change it up with a weekly menu, they deliver as if they cooked the exact same dish for years. A cozy Michelin quality restaurant, nestled in the southern suburbs of Denver.

We were immediately sat on the patio around 5:45 PM. We were greeted and given "welcome bubbles". What a nice touch. After about 5 minutes, we were finally given menus. Other people were sat around us, so we waited to ask for the happy hour menu. We ordered the chef's choice charcuterie, a cocktail, and a glass of wine. The drinks and board were yum, but not quite a wine bar as there were very limited option by the glass. Also, we had to ask for plates and silverware where this is a basic item. While deciding on dinner, we were approached a couple times by the 2 servers in the section. One was friendly, the other, not so much, rather indifferent and made us feel a little uncomfortable and not very welcome. This kind of set the tone for the rest of our night. We ordered the "family share" chateaubriand. We realize this is an expensive cut, but the portion is definitely not a sharing cut, around 4 oz. It is closer to a single entree. When it arrived, the plate was cold, like the meat was lukewarm and the cauliflower was ice cold. Again, we had to ask for silverware and plates for this "family style shareable" plate. We brought the cauliflower temperature up with the server and got new cauliflower after we were done with the rest of the meal. Also, I sat with an empty wine glass and no one stopped to ask if I needed another glass. When the servers did stop by, it was a short interaction and we never even had a chance to ask before they were already walking away. We saw so many people come in and out that they must be doing something right, but for us, our experience was mediocre. If our meal would have been the correct temperature (it was well prepared, just cold) and better execution on the service, we may have had a better experience.

My Chicken Parmesan may have been the best I have ever eaten. However, the service obliterated an otherwise excellent meal. Many reviews describe Bettola as a hidden gem with warm, attentive service. That makes our treatment even harder to understand. I waited tables years ago, so I am extremely lenient with waitstaff. I know how hard they work and what they endure. Do you know how rude and dismissive a waiter must be for me to write a one-star review? VERY. I do not know his name. He appeared to be serving most, perhaps all, of this small restaurant. That is a tremendous workload, and slow service alone would not have upset me. Maybe he was having a terrible day. Maybe he was in pain. I truly do not know. But he seemed friendly with many other customers while treating us with indifference. He was inattentive, and dismissive, and appeared entirely comfortable behaving that way. Why were we treated differently? Was it because we were older? Was it because I am Black? I sincerely hope neither was true, but his conduct left me asking those questions. Whatever you are going through, every guest deserves your best. We were kind and respectful. Even a difficult guest deserves basic dignity because a waiter has no idea what that person may have endured that day, either. Respect must travel in both directions. Always. Our party divided the check. I don't know what my friends left him, but I still left a 25% tip. I did that because I remember the work and because countless waiters give their guests outstanding service every day. The kitchen produced a remarkable meal. The Chicken Parmesan alone could bring me back. But excellent food cannot erase treatment that makes guests feel unwelcome. Bettola deserved better representation. We deserved better treatment. Everyone does. Do your job, treat every guest with dignity and respect, and do your job well, or quit, man.
