We needed a mechanic that would be able to handle our European Camper/RV. A diesel Mercedes Hymer s700. We were visiting Tehachapi anyway and needed parts (shipped from the UK) fitting to the camper. A quick Google search turned up Jeff Murphy's After Hours Yelp listing and website. He is a mechanic capable of working on a diesel RV and not phased by its marque. Jeff turned up when he said he would, was a complete professional mechanic who knew his stuff and was extremely fair with his pricing. He came out for free to help us with a bit of diagnosis and then when the parts arrived arranged to come and fit them where we were parked (being a mobile mechanic and all). Andrew, at Murphy's Diesel was very understanding of our situation, when our motorhome front axle bearing failed while we were traveling in California. He even connected us with a tow company that was willing to tow us from quite a distance to the shop. The tow company was unable to pick us up until the next day due to flash flooded closed highways, but when we got to the Murphy's Diesel, Andrew was right there ready to take a look at it so we could get back on the road for our vacation. When we finally chased down the parts, Andrew and his team went straight to work to put them in and get us on the road again. We were able to complete our five-week (2,900 mile) vacation with no further issues. Let me save you some trouble: If you are anywhere in the area and have truck trouble, these guys are the ones to see. We were stranded and they just happened to be the closest diesel repair shop. We had insurance tow us there and even the guy driving the tow truck had nothing but great things to say about them. They are knowledgeable, competent, and unbelievably quick. Most importantly, they take care of their customers. We were stranded on the opposite side of the country, where we knew no one, and were stressed and scared. The team at Murphy's was a godsend. They took care of us with a level of customer service we had never experienced.. and it seems to be that way with the whole team! We could not be more thankful we happened upon their shop. Our only regret is that we live so far away and won't be able to keep them as our go-to guys. read more

Andrew treated my Mother as if she was his own! I could not speak more highly of him and the road service call that he provided. I live in Ohio and called because my mothers vehicle would not start after she fueled at the Flying J by the highway. I had assessed the issue to the battery and the terminal connection before I called for help. Andrew had went above and beyond when I mentioned I would have my mother wait inside the Wendy's until he was able to get there at the end of are conversation. To my surprise he dropped what he was doing took care of her immediately. I received a call for my mom, Andrew had her back on the road 3 to 4 hours ahead of his time line that I was told. The radiator in my 2002 Ford F-350 dually blew out 20 miles west of Tehachapi as I was pulling a 9 ton RV trailer to a customer's residence in Bakersfield. There was a tow truck helping another broke down truck where I stopped, and the driver recommended Murphy's. I was able to get to Murphy's shop at 4:15 hoping they could keep me rolling even though they closed at 5. They were great! Jeff found a replacement radiator within a half hour and asked his tech, Anthony, to stay and install it. He jumped on it and in 90 minutes; I was on my way. I'm compelled to write about the remarkable service Jeff Murphy and his team provided during an unexpected mechanical failure we experienced in the middle of the night. They answer the telephone 24 hrs a day so I called them in the wee hours of the morning. When we discussed our problem I was advised to get our vehicle to them by 8 am, which we did. They assessed the issue, tracked down the needed part and had us back on the road in 2 hrs. Our car drives like new. When my truck overheated climbing the hill into Tehachapi I found Murphy's. It was after 6:00 p.m. and they were closed, but the owner saw me drive up as he was leaving and asked if he could help. He told me to come back first thing in the morning and he would put someone to work on it right away. Long story short, I had the truck back by the end of the day with a new radiator and clutch fan. I took my 2013 Ford cmax to Jeff and his team twice. The first time they diagnosed it was my transmission and referred me to Ford for the repairs. Through ford it was under an extended warranty and didn't cost me a penny! The second time they diagnosed a bearing that was out in my front left wheel. Recently was traveling with a UHAUL truck from Northern California to Flagstaff AZ when truck started smoking and making noise that sounded like it could be a belt.
