We were driving an 05 F250 across the Grapevine with a mid-sized sedan car in-tow, when the radiator blew out! We could smell the antifreeze and the windows got foggy, super scary. We pulled over at the Tejon Outlets and try to get some help. Once we called Performance Truck and Diesel, someone called us back quickly and told us they could definitely work on our truck. Most of the places in the area do not service regular trucks, they are more for commercial diesel trucks. Once we arrived, they were able to get us in immediately, diagnose the problem, order the new parts, repair the car, run diagnostics, and had us out of there within two hours! They had excellent service, had valuable information about the truck, and had some follow-up tips for our normal mechanic to make sure everything else was running smoothly. It is a warehouse repair facility. As a female, I appreciate that they had a bathroom with everything I needed including soap, toilet paper and paper towels. It could use a power wash but it is a mechanic shop, what can I say. They allowed me to chill in their break room to charge my phone and offered coffee while I waited. They were friendly, honest and swift. They likely often get i5 travelers with time-sensitive plans, they were definitely focused on getting us back on the road before dark. Update: since Performance "can't figure it out" (as they said) we towed our truck out of there for $600 and still had to pay Performance OVER $17,000 for "parts" on a vehicle that they completely messed up. Come to find out... our new mechanic said there was no fuel in the truck and whoever worked on it before seized ALL 6 INJECTORS! These guys at Performance didn't even check the fuel tank which was siphoned on their property because we left it with fuel. We had to pay the real mechanic an additional $8,000+ to actually fix the truck and get it running. Still less than half the price of Performance but... our truck is running! I would stay away from this shop! If there was an option for zero stars, that would be the true rating. We were told the EGR valve needed to be cleaned. When we picked it up, the light was still on. We were told by Randy that only Dodge dealership could clear the codes to make the light go away. We took the truck to Dodge to get updates and clear the codes. Light immediately turned on once we drove down the street. We called Performance and Randy said he could look at it for $278. I questioned why he would charge when the light never went away after the EGR valve was cleaned by them. I refused to pay any more money. After lots of back and forth, when they did finally agree to look at it again, Randy said it would cost $15,000 to do the work needed. Long story short... The EGR valve actually needed to be replaced, NOT cleaned. We also needed the fuel pump to be replaced. We had to have the work done from another auto shop. We were completely ripped off by this place. We paid less money to have the EGR replaced than we did to have it cleaned by them. Very disappointing!!! I would never recommend this shop! read more

The head of the light truck division of Performance Diesel is completely incompetent and doesn't search properly for the solutions to the vehicle's problems, therefore, does repairs and fixes things that do not need fixing. They had our truck for 3 1/2 months to detect a leak in the transmission and oil leaks in the engine - some of which did not exist. Solution, terminate and replace the head of the light truck division with an honest person. read more
