Both were delicious and great for the price. After HH, I stayed for a Margherita pizza and more wine. The pizza was thin crust and tasted fresh. Only thing that was interesting to me was the inability to order the same HH wines after HH. The selection switches out. Service was really great and friendly. It started off rather quiet for HH but began to fill as time went on. Plenty of seating options and trendy decor.

VISIT: end of February 2020…read more This was a pleasant surprise as we ate here probably every day of the 3 that we were in town. I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points

The staff are a friendly bunch, but don't always bring your food on time. You have to order at the bar, so don't go waiting for service. The food itself is traditionally English too, with your plain, but satisfying fish n chips, beef burger or calamari delicacies. Mainly you go there to enjoy a certain atmosphere ,which changes depending on whether it's a family afternoon or a rowdy weeknight. A pleasant place to dine if you feel like a good, old fashioned pub meal sometimes coupled with live music too!

In saying this, its hard to say what the Cock & Bull's target market is, but nevertheless, they seem to be accommodating for a wide age range- and thats a good thing. I've always enjoyed the service at Cock & Bull. Always welcoming, quick and cheerful, and you know your drink is in good hands. Their food is very well done- I tend to lean towards their salads, but they do great wedges, nachos and fries with aioli. Their aptly named Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa pizzas are well priced and taste even better! Cock & Bull is a long-standing establishment in Botany Downs and really fits the gastropub mould. If you're looking for somewhere that does its job right in the Botany area, go no further than the Cock & Bull.

We were able to grab a shaded table on the patio to enjoy the beach views Because I wasn't feeling well, I just ordered a salad, soup wasn't an option, while my sister got a fish and chips, surprise!! lol The service was super slow and there really wasn't that many patrons. I do believe that they were short staffed. So although the service was slow, we were in NZ and the wait staff was very pleasant and so we were very patient. Also, we're on vacation on the beach, me with a cold, we didn't want to ruin the vibe. Once our meal arrived, it was pretty good. My cucumber salad was refreshing and filling while my sister's fish and chips was good. However, while we were waiting for the next bus, we noticed they had a side counter where I thought they were only serving ice cream. Turns out you could order sandwiches and hot dog and other beach snacks. And there are plenty of benches to sit on just few steps on the beachside. The prices for ice cream stand seemed reasonable, the restaurant prices may seem outrageous. But just remember, the price is in NZ dollars. Once you apply the conversion, the meals are reasonably priced. Waiheke is an island so the ingredients are sourced from the mainland.

It's a fairly new establishment in the area, but it's become a regular hangout for a few beers and very good food. You definitely feel the '80's vibe when you're there, and its always nice to see a little appreciation for that era. Their pizzas are delicious, particularly 'Rangi's Hangi' and 'Larry the Lamb'. They do a very nice caesar salad and my favourite main has to be the crispy chicken burger with aioli and melted brie- one of the best restaurant burgers I've had. They've got a good range of ciders and do a few cocktails to quench your thirst. They also serve most of their drinks in 600mL milk bottles, which is a really cool touch. I'd have to say that Nineteen Eighty One is best known for their fortnightly Wednesday quiz nights. The place gets packed and its always a good laugh- there's even a prize for the team that comes second to last.
