Think twice before you drop your power equipment off here. Seemed fine when I dropped off my leaf blower that was under warranty. Was told a couple months or longer to process Ryobi warranty. I waited 3 months and called for status. No update, they would have to call me back. This went on for months! They couldn't even locate my blower in the shop! I continued to follow-up more than a half dozen times. Always told they would call ma back, but never once received a call back! I dropped the blower off on July 19th, 2023. It's now almost 2 years later!!! nothing. Beware of polite lip service, poor tracking system and 1 star customer service for equipment drop offs. See my repair tag receipt attached if you don't believe me. I had to ask for a copy of the repair tag when I dropped off the blower too, but it did me no good anyway! read more

I wish I read all the very honest and real world reviews before the drop off. These people are a bunch of clowns at a circus of fraud... The purposely void the labor warrenty with any excuse they can dream up. I am guessing manufactor only gives them a set fee for labor that only a shop with intergrity would accept. They live in dream land charging $125 an hour with 3 hours labor for any job plus diagnostic of $40. Either have the manufactor send you the parts and do it yourself or toss whatever you bough in the trash if you can't return it. It's not worth paying $415 for anything used with an issue. Warrenty fraud ring, beware, you have been warned. Service is poor with 2 weeks to even have it looked at and another month to fix with parts [They have zero parts in stock]. They lie when you drop it off saying it should be ready in two weeks... Any business should just be honest and upfront. "This is our busy season, it is going to take 2-3 weeks before we can even perform a diagnostic. After the diagnostic it's going to take 4 additional weeks to get the parts and repair it. Worst (lack of) service I've had in a long time. Dropped my mower off a month ago and (for some reason) was told by the mechanic it'd be fixed that day (?!) and I'd get a call. No call, I called next day and manager said they're running 2-2 1/2 weeks but they'd try to look at it early the next week. No call, so I called 4 times over the course of the next 3 weeks and never got a call back as requested. Called 2 days ago to let them know I'd be retrieving my mower today fixed or not, we'll it not only wasn't repaired, it'd been sitting outside uncovered, likely for the month they had it. Giving this guy one star is a stretch. Brought my machine in for a tube up. One week later it did not work. After two weeks they came out to fix it. Three weeks later something unrelated broke. Brought it in and got a call saying while your here you really need a tube up!! Your oil is black?? I asked him if it would be free. He answered with a wide guy response. I asked why I would pay again where you just did one a month ago?? Of course he was "looking at the wrong ticket". Even though he described what I brought it in for. I'll never go back. Our snow blower wouldn't start on the first storm of the winter. We called Murphy's Power Equipment at around 4PM. By 5:30PM, they were at our house picking up our snow blower and transporting to their shop. At 4PM, the next day, we received a call that our snowblower was all fixed. The price they charged was very reasonable for what was wrong with it. Also, they pick up and deliver the equipment. I am very pleased with their price, turnaround time and how great my machine runs now. Would recommend this company to anyone who needs snowblower repair. read more

Working with this company has been a total nightmare. Good customer service was non existent dealing with the manager Mike Murphy. He was rude and spoke with me in a nasty manner after I questioned why my lawn mower still hadn't been fixed after they has the machine for 4 months. I was lied to repeatedly about the part being on back order and they were waiting on it . Mike confirmed they never even looked at the machine and basically said I needed to wait my turn because there were other who has been waiting longer than I have. I picked up my lawn mower today and it was not fixed and was told I have to pay 40.00 fee for the diagnostic or they wouldn't give me back my machine. Honest. Brought our Ryobi Lithium Ion Battery mower in. This was the second time this mower broke in less than two years. Home Depot does not stand behind these products. Nor does TTI who makes Ryobi and Milwaukee mowers. Last time Home Depot thought keeping the mower 8 plus weeks was acceptable. So brought it to Mike. He shared right up front Ryobi had a serious issue with parts. sure enough Ryobi shared the part we needed might be available in late June! We paid the diagnostic fee of 40 dollars. Thanks to Allstate Square trade and Murphys we are going to get a refund-- not from Home Depot nor the manufacturer. Do not buy Ryobi lawn care products! My son has an ego. I would not use them again and would not recommend them. They serviced my snow blower. The engine was running fine but the auger that was not working. They repaired it, but after using it for less than 5 minutes it died again. It end up costing me over $370, including $150 for pick up and drop off. I called Mike the next day and they wouldn't warranty their work and wanted me to pay again the $150 pick fee and the labor. Use another company for your service and repairs if you can. read more

Mike Murphy jr. is the last person you want to drop any of your machines off to. He is by far the worst and unprofessional business owner I've met to date all he's looking to do is scam you. Seen it happen over and over again. They famous for telling you the repairs on your machine will be covered by warranty but when it comes time to pick it up somehow there's a bill attached to it with the work done that wasn't covered and makes you to blame for it. They do the work without even calling and letting you know what's wrong and if you wanna fix it or not 9 times out of 10 people were getting this information when they were calling for a status update on the machine he'll give you the famous line or oh we can't find your paperwork and that he'll call you back as soon as it's found and won't hear back from him at all. Leave a message it won't get returned he doesn't even check them so no point in waisting your time. If I could give this place no stars I would. I highly encourage people not to go here and if you do be prepared to wait longer then the 2 week turn around time he tells you when you drop something off. Oh one more thing if you plan on being there for when they open don't rush yourself says on the door and website they open at 9:30 and the 3 times I've been down there no one's been on time once. Murphy's did a great job repairing my riding lawn mower. I live in Gloucester, MA, and Steve drove 40 miles each way to picke p my mower. Murphy's fixed it and returned it in 3-4 days. I had an issue with my snow blower recently and called Murphy's.The issue was minor but the machine also needed a tune-up, I also had a lawn tractor the neede a tune=up and a push mower too. They picked up all 3 pieces of equipment, serviced the and had them back to me very quickly. They replaced one of the tractor blades that was bent with one the took off another machine they had in the shop that had a blown engine, They also saw and fixed a problen with the reverse function on the snow blower that I forgot to tell them about. Mike was very professional and reviewed with me all work done on the machines. I can't say enough about this shop. They have my business. read more

NO! Go elsewhere ! These guys are over priced and take advantage of anything short of a small engine expert. They are rude and make you feel dumb. I asked them to not do the work since they were going to charge me almost $300 for a bent crankshaft. When i went to pick up the broken mower...instead of offering to help me lift it up into the truck, the guy wheeled it at me. It rolled up onto my foot and cut my ankle. The auger control cable on my year old craftsmen snowblower tore. I went to Murphy's and Mike ordered everything on the spot for me at a much better price than Sears. He also got the part in before Sears told me they would even ship it to me. Mike did everything he could to help me and I just walked right in. I know there's bad reviews on here, but my experience was positive and I was impressed that he took care of me on the spot with his phone ringing non stop. read more

Terrible service. I had an electric mower that wouldn't start. Murphy took 3 weeks to diagnose and 1 week to try to fix, and 2 days to write the bill. They never called, I had to keep checking up. Cost $120 for what could have been easily done for $60 (buying a charger and trying it). I do not trust them. Mower still doesn't work. read more

I was referred to them by Home depot. Man! do I wish I had seen those reviews before I called them for my tractor. My name is Richard Simon, I live in Stoughton, MA. Today's date is 9/9/19, and my tractor was delivered earlier today. This company has the most crooked people. After charging $44 for blades that, clearly, they did not replace, (I took pictures of the blades that I wish I could upload with my review), now during my first use with it, the machine stop working, the blades would not engage. I am so going to the court house, and get a small claim suit against that company. read more

If I could give this guys -3 stars, I would. I setup a Yelp accounts just to leave this review. I took my pressure washer there as it wasn't running properly. I actually kept driving past the entrance after I saw it because I suspected their operation is a shit show - but, due to impatience I decided to give them a chance anyway. Mistake. I dropped the unit off at the end of May and was told it should take about 2 weeks but they'll try to get to it sooner. 4 weeks in I called and asked for an update, they took my number and said they'd call me back. Never did. A week later I call again and repeated the madness. This happened a total of 6, SIX TIMES without once receiving any kind of update or call back. The week of July 6th I received a call that it was "all set." I picked up the unit, paid $100 and took it home. Absolutely no difference. I wonder if they even started it... Awful, awful. I took a simple tractor tire to have a tube put in. They had to order the tube it took over a week and they said they had to have some place else get the tire off. When the tire came back, it did not look like the I originally had. I took more than a week. They over inflated the tube and it ultimately broke through the tire. They charged me $75 for ruing my tire. Now I need to replace the tire. I took it to Dick's Power equip. They replaced the tire with a good condition used tire, did it the same day and charged my $40. Don't use Murphys! read more

If yelp had 5 minus stars Murphy would get all of them. Dealt with them a few times over the years. Brought them a nice chain saw with an obvious carb problem, got it back in parts. Brought a snow blower with a carb problem, was charged 250 bucks plus delivery, 1 mike away. Drive cable promptly broke. I fixed the cable myself, the old one was deliberately damaged to fail. Now I fix everything myself or throw it away. Parts are very cheap online and most problems are either a carb, blade or cable, all easy stuff. You need to know the SN, year and brand of what you own and order on line. Use ethanol free gas when ever possible. The equipment and big box stores all sell it now. Don't believe me? Check the cost of a new carb or rebuild kit. Murphy or other place for that matter will not rebuild carbs, they bolt on a new one and you pay. read more

Do not use these guys at all! I was charged $75 for a pick up fee, when the shop is located approximately 3 miles from my house. I wasn't given even an estimate on the repair at first. Standing in my snowy driveway I demanded an estimate. I wasn't going to let them leave with my machine without at least a ballpark estimate. The guy grunted at me that it would only be around $300.00 including delivery. At the time we needed the machine and we had no choice so we told them to fix it but to please call us if there was any change in the price. He agreed and I had to load the machine on the truck myself. Granted. We did not know much about the workings of the machine other than tinkering with the engine. We received a call a couple of days later and was told that it would cost over $600 to repair as it needed a tune up badly, a shear pin and an auger belt. We were complaining about the price and were talking about getting it back. We were told since they already started the repair (no one gave any authorization) and they are so busy that it would be weeks before they could get it all back together and return it providing we pay for the repairs first. I was floored. Here I am getting bitched at by this guy to pay to fix something that I didn't even authorize to fix. After speaking with my wife we said to hell with it, fix it and return it please. I let him know we were not happy with the service or the cost and he really didn't seem to care an iota. Approximately 3 weeks later we get a call that the machine is on the truck and would be dropped off in our yard with payment in full. Over $600 later we get the machine back. I had a friend visiting and he checked over the machine after they left. The only thing that he found the did was replace a shear pin on the auger. A part that I can now get a few of them for $20 and was shown how to replace myself in about 10 minutes time. Stay away from these rip off artists. You WILL get robbed in some manner from them. Of this there can be zero doubt. Funny how there's a place in Braintree that would pick up the machine for $30. Do not deal with these guys. You have been warned. read more

What a group of jokes! Got my snowblower picked up for a service on 2/3/15 and was quoted $150 for service and pickup/dropoff......received a call on 2/5/15 and was told I needed a new augerbelt that cost $30 and was asked if that was ok, and that the part would be in that Monday/Tuesday.....so I said ok.......come Wednesday 5/11/15 I never heard from them so I called......acted like they didn't know who it was but after going over with them said the part should be here that week and would be ready end of week......and quoted me over $350!!!!!WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? I told him how I was originally quoted 150 + $30 part.....and there response was "we don't quote any prices until the job is done".......anyway for a part that was supposedly ordered on both 2/5 & 2/11 has yet to show up and now as of today 2/23/15 the part is on back order???? Why wasn't I notified the part was on back order these past 3 weeks?!?!? Avoid- don't honor their word, work or prices.... Update: had them just bring my snowblower back so I could go to a more reputable repair shop.....let the 1.5 stars and reviews speak for themselves if you dare to give these guys your business read more

Charged more in repairs and then if I bought the same piece of equipment new. Very surly attitude and when he told me there was a $25.00 diagnostic fee he forgot to mention that was $25.00 for each piece of equipment. dated 6/30/2017 "FRAUDS KEEP AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TWO RECENT EXPERIENCES BELOW WRITTEN. 1)dropped off my snapper lawn mower had a restart problem after emptying the full bag of clippings. They performed a full tune up which was not necessary as I had proved only one month earlier. Charges were reflective at 117.00 which should have been lower and was not notified of their diagnosis and anticipated charges-not professional or fair to not contact the customer. Received the mower back, placed on lawn and now was missing a screw on the top housing and the throttle rod was now disengaged, Contacted them, dropped off to repair their error which they provided the petty repair to fix.NOW COMES ANOTHER PROBLEM SUDDNLY HAPPENING AGAIN TO MY MOWER UNDER THEIR CARE. 2) FRAUD SUBSTANTIATED) As written above, the mower was repaired but a sudden surprising throttle rod was disengaged once I placed on the lawn. COntacted them, claimed they would evaluate and get back to me in a few days Murphy contacted me later next week, told me that there was good and bad news, 1st the rod was fixed at their expense, however now the rope recoil was not recoiling and the rope BROKE, as it "BROKE" upon their checkout process. They claim to have it fixed with charges of material at cost, and labor only 1/2 hour upon a 1 1/2 hour job at 115.00. I agreed to go forth and during this time, I called stewarts in Holbrook and they claim should only be at about 100.00 with full cost of material and labor. BUT HERE COMES THE KICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just happen to be in the area and wanted to check out the situation as now there exists back to back repairs to my mower that did not exist when I dropped it off! Owner was not present, repair person was, I inquired if the part was ordered , he told me he believed it was, I looked at the mower in garage, undid the rope, it sprang back as it should. Asked for the repair person to pull to start, started, I did the same.We picked up mower and I drove away never to return. GETTING TO UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION YET???? My interaction with Murphys Inc was truly one of the most astoundingly bad experiences I have ever has as a consumer. I brought my snowblower into this location in May of 2015, as it was an authorized repair location for my particular brand of snowblower (Green Works). Despite being within the warranty time frame, and the problem needing repair being caused by a failed part, they initially refused to service it. It was only after I called Green Works while standing in the shop lobby that Murphy's agreed to fix it. Then, over the course of EIGHT months, it never got fixed. Each time I called, I was given a different excuse ("We don't focus on snowblowers in the summer" - "The part isn't in yet" - "there was a mix-up from Green Works" - "it should be ready next week") - I never heard back from them to tell me it was fixed. It got to the point that when Green Works called Murphy's on my behalf, they didn't answer the phone. Green Works ended up replacing the unit and sent it to me directly. I don't know what the deal is with Murphy's Inc - it would appear they are either inept or corrupt, but in either case you would be wise to avoid them at all costs.
