We ordered Bacon Burgers with fries & they were very good. The burger is huge but they need to give you more fries. The waitress was really busy but did a great job checking on us. All in all a great bar but with all the tall steps it is not handicap friendly at all. A nice ramp into the front door would be great!

This place is a piece of poop and honestly deserves -2.5 stars(Heads up, this is the pg version). I don't even know where to begin. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, this place looked sketch...but yes, I went to the restaurant anyways. To start, they gave away our RESERVED TABLE and split my group up into 5 tables. Strike 1 But now to the important stuff. The waitress didn't even hand out our menus until 15 min. after we sat down. And better yet, they didn't even have enough menus to go around the restaurant. Strike 2. Even after we sat down, drinks didn't come for another 10 min. Strike 3. When it finally came to order, my table ordered two appetizers which were decent, however it took over 30 min. For a few fried pickles and frozen cheeze curds to come out. Are you kidding me? It takes about 30 sec to fry pickles...Strike 4 The worst part is when it came to the main course. Lets just say DO NOT order anything that has to be cooked. This includes chicken, steak, burgers, and all of the above. If you have to come to this restaurant (which I don't know why you would) order a salad. That might come out within an hour. You might be wondering, "why not order a burger" well unless you like eating pink ground beef straight off the shelf from Walmart I would not order a burger. And also, if you like your steak bloody and still walking on four legs, this place is the place for you. Here the service sucks, and the cooks in the back must be blind because they couldn't cook a medium rare steak if their life depended on it. (And also the chicken was pink). (This was strike 4, 5, 6, and 7). I would continue to write this review, but I have to go throw up now.

Comdiment holder. Who wants to look at that while eating?

Friday night, smaller crowd than usual. Ordered the mushroom swiss burger and cheese balls. Burger was dry and bland. Had to douse the cheese balls in ranch to get any flavor. This place is filthy. The condiment holder had ketchup everywhere, the cup of water had a brown stain at the bottom. The bucket of beer was so rusted at the bottom. It leaked all over the table. Waitress replaced the bucket but didn't bother cleaning up the spill. The beer was nice and cold. Will not return for a long time.

Worst food I have ever had. Terrible. I've lived in Nebraska all my life and this was garbage. Service was OK. Food was awful. Yuck.

I don't live in Hastings anymore, but I did grow up here and was back visiting family. We were looking for a place near my nieces' hotel and happened upon this place. Now there were definitely no places like this in Hastings when I was making the rounds. But then, back in the day I probably wasn't looking for martini bars either. What a fun, friendly, and fantastic place. I think we came in four or five nights in a row and the owners couldn't have been friendlier. That's right, I said "the owners". They may have other staff as well but while we were there it was the owners who were bartending and serving, and they couldn't have been more welcoming. The drink menu was amazing from start to finish, (definitely have the (Blueberry Mojito) and the prices reasonable. I'm sure it's a Midwest thing but I appreciate being able to go out and enjoy myself without having to spend about a day's wages like when I go out on the East Coast. They really made it a great place to relax and have a cocktail or two at the end of the day . . . . obviously, since we kept coming back night after night . . . . and will definitely stop again on my next visit to Hastings. A couple other quick things before I end this. First, there is a bar menu where you can order from a nearby restaurant. Second, the artwork on the wall is fantastic. Something interesting to look at in every direction . . . . and you can buy it if you really like it. Usually in places where restaurants or bars double as gallery space the artwork is small and mismatched by multiple artists. Nothing wrong with that, but I find it distracting. Here the artwork was all by a single artist I believe, and larger enough that it seems part of the decor. And at least the ones near me seemed reasonable priced. (We sat at the same table every night, so I only saw a few up close.) There's one was one funk one that I might have bought if it weren't for the fact that I had driven here from DC and still had to drive back and had already spent more than I planned on the trip here . . . . and still had several stops planned for the return trip. (Graceland, Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Mammoth Cave . . . etc.) Final words, C'mon Hastings (and people just visiting), show this place the support it deserves . . . . and have a cocktail for me.

It has booths lining the walls that have been lovingly repaired many times over the years using the tried and true duct tape method. It has a pool table, fun and friendly locals (mixed in with the occasional bar fight) , a Touch Tunes juke box, beer signs that have been there for who knows how long, Sunshine Wheat Beer in a frosty mug for $1.50, and a wonderful owner named Virginia. This was my college gang's bar, and it could just be nostalgia talking but I love this place. Virginia, the owner, is a hardworking, sweet yet tough woman. She watched over us like a protective Grandmother, and even checked to see if we had finished our homework for the day before she brought us a pitcher of Sunshine. If you like dives and find yourself in Hastings, NE-go to The Olive, and say hi to Virginia for the gang and I. Things to know: Bring cash! No card machine here! There's a small parking lot and also plenty of meter free spots on the street. This place is pretty much a beer and simple mixed drink place. Don't expect to get any martinis, wine or fancy cocktails. Rum and Coke? Definitely. Cosmopolitan? Definitely not. The crowd in here can get a bit drunk and rowdy, but for the most part they are very nice and friendly. If you're looking for a quiet night out, I wouldn't suggest this place.
