I brought in my truck for an Eletrical diagnostic ? Brake lights were out ? I checked! Not a fuse , bulbs or disconnected wires? So I had them take a look found out the fuse box is worn out! No longer held a solid connection ? Over the years bumps , vibrations and just plain deterioration . Diesel motors last longer than components? A 190.00 bucks charge well Worth it ! Unfortunately they don't make my part anymore? Have a buy an aftermarket! I'll be back with a certified part & have them finish it. The shop is professional & rates are reasonable. Murray's has done good work in the past, but they are dishonest. They replaced the coil packs on my 2008 Triton V10, and broke off one of the retaining bolts. It was clear they broke it while extracting or when replacing the bolt (over tightened). My coil pack shook lose after only 3K miles. Took me 3.5 hours to fix (remove broken bolt from the block) pulling coil packs and fuel lines, which is why they didn't address the issue when they broke it. They denied they broke the bolt and would not refund any portion of the over-priced repair. Buyer beware. I would avoid Murray's. read more

I always heard good things about Murray's diesel repair. All my diesel truck driving friends spoke well of them, and I thought they provided good service, albeit expensive, the one previous experience I had with them. My recent experience with them has changed my opinion for the worse, and I can no longer recommend them, especially if your working through your insurance company for the repair. They made working with them impossible, they wouldn't cooperate with the insurance company and take photos of the damage, they made me return to the shop to take pictures, and then when they got the authorization, they wouldn't call the insurance company and speak to the adjuster. Instead they wanted me to sign a personal guarentee for the work! Spoke to my adjuster this morning and he told me he would have paid them for their time, if they had only called him.. instead they had me bouncing between them and my insurance company, only to return a week later and pick the vehicle, since I refused to sign a personal guarentee. They might be a great shop if your cutting the check, but if your lucky enough to be able to put the claim through your insurance, save yourself a big hassle and go to another shop! read more

Unbelievable service . Kieran think he is on top of the world. the guy Chris is worst than you can imagine . he needs 100% training on customer service skills. They definitely are money hungry and desperate to charge out the door ridiculous fee. The vehicle was taken last year for a reprogramming which was incomplete. we took it back after repairs were done for the completion of the computer and they recharge astronomical fee as last year. after making a big deal about reprogramming they let the car sit in their garage rephrase ( ON THE STREET) WITHOUT NOTIFYING US THE CAR WAS READY .They charge double for same service which was incomplete . what a way not to do business . the Chris Guy also cursing disrespecting customers and of course his boss allows him to treat people terribly . Beware of this place as it is a money hungry repair shop . I will definitely not recommend this to no customer. I will assure my bank cancels my check . read more

Wouldnt take my car anywhere else for the 100K tune up. Planned on having the timing belt done as well since it was about time. I also asked him to check my tires since I haven't gotten any since around 40K miles. This was back in February when the rains started hitting hard. Kieran called and said to hold off on the timing belt/water pump and do tires and brakes first because that's safety. Who am I to disagree. I always trust Keirans opinion so brakes, tires then belt and pump.... quite a few pennies later... my car is as good as new. Rides wonderful and can go another 100K!!! Brought my Powerstroke in for an engine swap, had the new engine ready to go in the back of my pickup. Chris (the office manager) said "why swap the motor, we can fix it" the motor had an oil leak and knock. Chris said it was due to a leaking HPOP seal causing the oil leak and what he called "injector knock" I was very doubtful but told him, hey, if that really fixes it, go ahead and try. It didn't fix it. $2500 later it still leaked and knocked. I brought it back and heard nothing for weeks. Finally called and Chris said "motor has no compression, it's junk" I got a little pissed and told him he needed to get it running so I can drive it to a shop to get the new motor in. Kieran, the owner did bust ass and get it running, but it still was knocking. Turned out to be a rod knock as I had suspected. They also got me for another $250 for batteries, and $500 for an (Autozone) starter, which failed almost immediately. Loss exceeded $3k! I brought it to another mechanic who put the new motor in. I tried to stay cool with Murray's, hoping the fact that I ate $3,000, maybe they'd make it up in better service down the road. To my shock, they gave me nothing but attitude. I called asking for an explanation. They said they'd call me for a conference call to resolve the issues...didn't call, didn't return my calls, didn't try to explain anything. I'd prefer to resolve face to face, but when that fails, Yelp serves its purpose. Beware of this self righteous shop. read more

My daughter's car had a leak caused by having her radiator changed by Midas of San Mateo.This resulted in needing a new leak fixed(they did not replace a part that leaked) ...and the spark plug wires ...and ignition box(?) replaced. Midas took no responsibility. I had heard of Murray's from my plumber ,Dittman Plumbing(the only plumber I will ever use). We met Kieran and he did the job the same day and did it well. It is a great auto shop. Kieran is very nice, knowledgeable and reliable. I left my truck indicating the problem I had. As usual, an hour later I remembered a few other things. Kieran took the call, listened and assured to check everything. He indicated an approximate time of when he intends to complete the job and suggested that he will call to confirm. He did exactly that. Everything was done very well. They know diesels like no one else. All the specifics are communicated in a simple way and without the usual techno lingo. Murray's diagnosis, recommendations, and subsequent repair of the suspension on my F250 was outstanding both in execution and results. Murray's had been recommended to me by 2 separate highly qualified mechanics. To say I'm happy I took their recommendation is a gross understatement. Not only did their repair make my truck ride and handle like new again, but likely saved me from a catastrophic breakdown while hundreds of miles away from any qualified repair place. This place charge $172 for a service and oil change. He tried to rationalize the charge by saying that's the cost of doing businesss in San Mateo. He pays his guys $60/hr and said it took 45 min and the cost of the oil was $50. That's still under $100 and his profit margin is 70%!!!! Terrrible and dishonest. read more
