Bacon cheese maid rite original size only onion added and fries in the back

Muscatine maid rite was really good. We weren't sure if we supposed to go to the counter to order as we sat for a while but someone eventually said they'll be over in a second. The malt was tasty and the left over cup was enough for a second refill. The maid rite was perfect size and delicious. The fries were fresh and hot! Great location to enjoy great food and ice cream.

So. Remember on the show Roseanne... when Roseanne and her friends open up the restaurant that sold "loose-meat" sandwiches? That restaurant idea was entirely based of THIS restaurant. Maid-Rites are the ORIGINAL loose-meat sandwiches. When I was growing up there were three Maid-Rite restaurants in Muscatine. In recent years, it's been whittled down to one location. The interior of the final location (located on Hwy. 61, north of Wal-Mart) is designed to look like a 50's diner, with chrome and red everywhere, and a juke box in the corner. You seat yourself upon arriving. Depending on when you go, it can be quite busy, and hard to find a table. The menu is basically what you'd expect. Maid-Rites of several varieties. Fried foods. Fountain sodas. One thing that they are famous for is their root beer, which arrives to your table in an icy, chilled mug. I always get a cheese-rite (or if I'm SUPER hungry, a MEGA Cheese-Rite). This is basically just a Maid-Rite with cheese sauce... and the MEGA is just larger than a regular Maid-Rite. You can opt to get your sandwich "extra juicy" which basically means they don't drain the meat at much when taking it out of the hot pans. With the combo baskets, you get a choice of regular or beer battered fries (go with the beer battered). We also usually get an order of fried mushrooms. At the end of the meal, the waitress give you a ticket and you go and pay at the register. Maid-Rite is something that you should try if you are going to be in the area at all. Even if it's not your thing (though I can't IMAGINE someone NOT liking a delicious Maid-Rite), it's one of those famous local places that you should give a shot. :)

Hi I like food! Food is good! You should eat it! Or else you will starve! Then you will be too skinny and people will think you are creepy

This restaurant doesn't look like much when you drive by but it's phenomenal food with great root beer.

The original town of the maid rite. This place is nostalgic and amazing. It's a bit of home feeling. Stop in here you won't regret it.

The food is good and greasy....just the way a Maid Rite should be. Very unhealthy but sometimes that's ok.

Not particularly tasty, I like the ambience and the waitress, but the"non-sloppy Joe" was simply boring.

I had a bacon cheese Rite with mustard, onion, and pickle, the beer fries, and a frosty mug root beer.

My travel companion had a cold and we were able to ask for a home remedy. They were gracious enough to give it to us. The home remedy is a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and a shot of milk. Ambience is clean high and priced right.

We travelled at the end of January and after a long day of travel and many delays due to heavy low fog, we were definitely excited to have a restaurant right in the hotel. There is a parking lot across the street and a parking deck behind as well so there is plenty of parking. The restaurant is located right in the lobby and also has a full bar. My coworker and I were dying for a drink and some food after a long morning. The bar has speciality cocktails, but also a full bar, wine, and beer. You can check out their speciality cocktails, wine, and beer lists on their website as well as make reservations. For food, my coworker and I decided to share a few appetizers. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts, Wings (1/2 Honey Sriracha, 1/2 Ginger Scallion), and the Baked Goat Cheese. They were all DELICIOUS! The flavors were great and the portions were as well. I've never had goat cheese before and it was so amazing I couldn't stop eating it. The sriracha wings were spicy, but not overwhelming. Later, some other people met us and we ordered the shrimp tacos which were also very good. The next morning we also had breakfast and I ordered the Omelet which comes made-to-order and you can choose 4 different additions. It also comes with potatoes. All delicious. Additionally, the service was also great as well! If I'm ever back in Muscatine I will definitely plan to return.
