I unfortnately had to deal with trying to get refunded money after being charged for a returned rental. But I was not getting anywhere even after calling saying I returned it to the Littleton, CO store. I finally got a refund 3 months later after I did a chargeback on my account. However they said they refunded me twice and charged me again without indicating they were doing this. Very poor customer service and the system they have for returns is terrible. We have rented since 2021 for our daughter, who started on the clarinet. We were very pleased at how easy the rental process was for a student musician. She switched to flute promptly into her sixth grade year and played until she graduated eighth grade. She then switched to the cello. No issues with switching. She's been playing cello for the last year and decided she wanted to switch to keyboard. We own a keyboard. So, I went in to discuss what our options were for returning our rental and purchasing a violin for our other daughter. The gentlemen at the counter explained how much we had in rental equity, closed my account, and said I had 30 days to decide on an instrument before my equity would be no longer valid. I went in today, a few days before my equity would expire and he told me that I can only use 50% of my equity on another instrument. I asked if I switched the account to a violin could I then purchase it? He told me my account is closed already and there's nothing he can do. So, we rented for four years and just trashed over $1k in rental equity because they will not sell me a student violin using the exactly amount of equity I've built. I spoke to the same person both visits. I am very unhappy with this outcome and will not be recommending Music & Arts to any new student musicians. The whole point of this is to let children play music and figure out what they like or don't like. When a child finds the instrument they like, I would hope the music store we've been loyally renting from would be thrilled to make a purchase happen for said child so they can continue their musical journey. On Monday 9/15/2025 I spoke with a representative about my past due amount which I was told was $59 (the same amount as my bill invoice from 9/4/2025). I explained my card had been stolen and I would be returning the instrument on Wednesday and would pay the past due amount. I went to the store in littleton and returned the flute. when i went to pay I was told the bill was $74 and they could not tell me why. I called customer service on 9/18/2025 and was on hold for 52 min. When i finally reached a representative I was told I was charged $15 for not paying for two months August and September, to which I said "it is September and I would not pay the late fee as it is not late" I asked him to remove the charge and was told he could not take it off but if I paid it he could refund it. i refused and paid only the $59 that I owed. To which he said my balance would be $15, when I said I wouldn't pay he threatened collections. read more

I had a terrible experience in this store. I thought the teaching was abysmal. I paid for hour long lessons after they told me 'most people think a 30 min lesson is sufficient'. So a) you can't learn jack in 30 min in life and b) I was expecting something extra after spending twice as much money. I had 4 lessons in which my instructor talked for 50-55 min and I played for 5 min or at most 10 min. It was just stupid. What a total waste of time and money. There's a theory associated with teaching. Say... the model behind feedback control theory... and the method of residuals. My teacher was a nice guy, but super dispassionate and unmotivated about the job... but on top of that he was a really bad teacher. read more

DO NOT RENT INSTRUMENTS from Music and Arts! I returned an instrument after having it for 2 weeks due to a condition my child acquired which made her unable to play. I was paid up to date (instrument was actually returned two weeks early)and nothing more was owed. They told me everything was perfect and we will no longer be charged. This was in September. It is now December and I have been fraudulently charged for October, November, and now December. I have called monthly when I see the charges appear and "customer service" continues to tell me my account is "pending" closed and no additional withdraws should be made from my account. The "customer service" team has been rude, short spoken and unwilling to help. In October I was told it would be 90 days to receive my refund. In November I was told the 90 days would start over because of the new charges they withdrew and promised it was closed and no further withdraws should be made. It is now December and I have been charged again! I am being billed for an instrument that I don't have and a service that I am not using! I will write the Douglas county and Littleton public school system to make them aware that this company which they promote for rentals are stealing money from the parents who's kids are renting these instruments. Be careful when you order a music instrument online through the Music & Arts website and ask for delivery at its store in Littleton. I ordered a music instrument online in early October. Three days later, I received a voicemail message from one of the employees informing me that the instrument had arrived in their store. I called the store the next morning, only to find out that someone else had picked it up. When I asked how they gave my instrument to a complete stranger, they said the person gave my name and it was probably because someone hacked my emails (remember the voicemail message?). They did not apologize, but offered to reorder it and comp us because of their error. Over the last week, I have been concerned about identity theft and called the store a number of times to obtain more information as to who stole my instrument, but the store personnel have been reticent to share anything other than the time they believe it occurred. To date, the "reordered" instrument, for which we haven't received an order number, has been in limbo, so we requested a refund. I am never going back to this store or ordering any instruments online from Music & Arts ever again. read more

This is the best place in the Southwest Denver area to get a violin and violin lessons!! Period! The most helpful staff and the best teachers by far, and they all have a degree in Music education. If you are going to rent to own expect to pay %30 above list price. Rick is very tense. They wouldn't let me use my rental credit towards the brand I wanted until I called the district manager, who was actually nice and said 'no problem'. The one star is for her. Still, it's just a corporation on the verge of collapse scrambling for every last dollar. Can't imagine the stress that trickles down the ranks. I recently had a guitar repaired my Music and Arts. It was my sister's guitar and she had passed away, so I wanted to get it repaired so my daughters could play it. It had a crack in it and needed other repairs as well, and other people had told me that it wasn't worth repairing it. I took it to Music & Arts and the repair professional, Kenny, did amazing work. He kept me updated on the progress and the cost along the way. When I got the guitar back, I had tears in my eyes because he had done such a great job on it.
