Had a private conversation at the bar and was told we couldn't talk about politics or religion. There was no one in the bar to even be involved in our conversation and we were told that we can't speak freely. There was no sign or disclosure that said we couldn't talk about religion or politics. The Musicbox is the place to be on the eastside! The new owners are AMAZING and have big things coming in the near future. The Dj on Saturday, DJ King Otto, is the shit playing all the dance jams and Wednesday, Emdeekay kills it with the unhappy hour bangers! The enitre staff, including the owners are very friendly and welcoming to everyone and seem to really enjoy their jobs. They have an all day happy hour and great shot and drink specials at night including jello and pudding shots that are the bomb! Every night is a great time!!! I really enjoy this place. Yes it's a little Divey but the people are fantastic. Especially the staff. I don't know the name of the day bartender but she's amazing and plays the best music. The night bartender. (Monday) goes so above and beyond. I lost my wallet and she took the time to grab a flashlight and search the parking lot and found it in a spot in my truck. Saving my trip. If you're looking for a nice cool chill spot to go to on a Friday night I would suggest the music box the drinks are nice and cheap but also full of flavor they also have karaoke and the DJ who presents karaoke is pretty funny and he also likes to sing! Located on the east side of town it's a hidden little gem , Right in front of the bowling alley so if you want to go bowling and then right after you bowl go have drink great music so you can dance and sing karaoke. After entering bar, the coolest dj ever offers to take my song request. I couldn't think of anything. I played pool and afterwards thought of a song to give the dj. I said "Hey DJ, I got the song" but she was not in the room. The bartender yelled at me and told me "that is not how she runs things and the dj is not dog". I didn't respond cause I was shocked. It was an embarrassing encounter with a mean bartender who was overheard calling me a bitch even with me choosing to not respond to her open humiliation. The music box does not present as a friendly atmosphere as this was my first visit and my last. Better off going to Eddie's down the street. Watch out for regulars!!! A fun place until a regular is not okay with you. A blond girl at the end of the bar got mad at our group for reasons unknown. We decided to leave because she made us very uncomfortable. As a female, tread lightly there, and be aware of your surroundings. read more

So special lady friend was out of town, and I realized that I had only left the house once in the past 3 days to get groceries. So as it was a nice night and I decided to go for a walk and passed by this place. I will say I have lived and walked past this place for 2 years and finally my curiosity got the better of me. The bar tender was new and didn't know how to make a white russian, clearly she has never seen "The Big Lebowski". So after I taught her how to make one, just as she was finishing the manager came along and was telling her off a little bit, as well I am guessing she made it too big... whatever. The prices were rather high for such a craptastic hole in the wall dive next to an ace hardware and bowling alley. When the people butchered Brittany Spears' "Toxic" (yes it can be done, I know, I too was taken a back by that bit of knowledge) Followed by a guy who absolutely mutilated (and should be taken to the smoking patio and shot for doing so) Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues. Well this dude does not abide! I killed my white russian and left to walk back home. Bottom line: If you want to sit drinking mediocre drinks which you paid a premium for in an east side dive bar while listening to people suck at karaoke than this is the place for you, If you are like me however you will say to yourself "At least they have air conditioning" read more

We found out that the Music Box had a DJ that played 80's music on the specific night we wanted to go dancing. We had never been to this bar, so we thought we'd try it. . . OMG, what a big mistake! Cons: *Smelled SEWER GASES when sitting at the bar (disgusting!) *The entire bar was lit much TOO BRIGHTLY for dancing. *The DJ played song after song no one wanted to dance to (you'd think he'd take a hint and PLAY BETTER DANCE MUSIC!!!). *The DJ had a VERY DIFFICULT time transitioning between songs. *When the DJ finally played a decent dance song, the dance floor was packed. However, for some UNKNOWN reason, he'd follow up with a horrible dance song and clear the floor in a heartbeat! - you would think that he'd get the hint, but he did it AGAIN and AGAIN! Pros: no cover; super nice bartender; decent priced drinks; clean bathrooms Suggestions for Music Box: *Get rid of the sewer smell. *GET A BETTER DJ for dance nights!!!!! I'm on the fence as to whether or not I actually like this place. I've only been twice, both for the DHP car show. Last year the car show was here in the parking lot so the atmosphere was really fun and everyone had a great time, they had a food truck and contests. This year I think they must have had the car show at Fuddruckers and just met up here after, so not a whole lot of people came. We were bummed out because we thought it would have been like previous years. Anyway, they have a DJ, and I met an older lady who has been coming here every saturday evening with her husband to dance. She was very sweet and it's people like that in this bar that make it unique. The bartenders are nice and they also give you free popcorn. Drinks are cheap too. read more

I've been to this bar many times over the last few years. In the past it has been decent. The drink prices were fairly reasonable, and although the DJ sticks to the same set of songs in the same order every single time I've been here, the music isn't bad. The environment at this night club has changed a lot recently. The bouncer and waitresses who use to be friendly and welcoming faces no longer exist. The DJ phones in his sets and there have been times when he has left the booth completely. The drink menu isn't as diverse as it once was. Because Its a small neighborhood bar I've tried to stop in and support business there in leiu of going to a bar or night club downtown. I've visited this bar for years and have never had any issues. A few weeks ago, I stopped in with one of my girl friends for drinks. As soon as I sat down at the table she informed me that the bartender was refusing to take our order. The male bartender, who another staff person later told us was named "Brass," then came over to the table and began accusing us and a "black guy" of jumping his brother at a house party after we left the music box 4 months ago. My friend and I attempted to explain to him that this made zero sense. Last time we were there, there were a couple of different guys who joined our table and lingered around to have drinks and talk, (one of who I guess was his brother), and when the bar closed we both left in our cars and went home. This was explained to "Brass" multiple times, and he continued to escalate the tone of the discussion to the point of yelling. Finally my friend told him, you're asking the same thing over and over again, what do you want. His response was that we needed to leave, he didn't feel comfortable serving us (because his brother sonehow got into a fight 4 months ago after drinking at that bar) and we weren't. Welcome there anymore. My friend asked to speak to the manager and he refused to acknowledge her and said we needed to leave. The other female staff who was working at the bar stepped in and said the manager was out of town for a few days, but the manager would side with the bartender. This used to be a decent place but the attitude of staff, and the lack of professionalism has drained everything that was good about this nightclub. read more
