I did my lab work at Lab Corp Pinole and decided to walk around and look for a dentist that was in the plaza. I personally prefer an asian dentist, so I walked into the office and felt so welcomed. I had questions about their services and if they accepted my dental coverage. Low and behold... they were available to give me an x-ray and an evaulation on the spot. The following day they got me in for a cleaning and an in depth evaluation. Everyone in the office is sooo very friendly and I felt so comfortable there. The dental hygenist, Jen, is so good at what she does, Celeste that handles the front office is very knowledgeable and has been in the field for over 20+ years, and Dr. T takes his time to discuss your teeth and care plans. This is exactly what I was looking for.... a dental office where people are friendly and takes their time to answer questions. read more

I was a patient for years at this office. I was recently charged a bill for a cleaning (I never had to pay for cleanings). I asked about the bill and I was told due to insurance changes which was out of network with Dr Thy, but I was not told before my appointment. I asked if it was possible to waive due to lack of communication on they're end with my insurance and copay, but he said it was not possible to waive the bill. I was also told I needed to do redo a crown that he had done and today I went into a new office and they told me nothing was wrong with the crown and they will keep an eye on it going forward. Dr Thy was going to charge me close to 1k to redo my crown. Ask questions and make sure your insurance is in network with them and get a second opinion on work that needs to be done. read more

I was pretty devastated when my regular dentist, Dr. Watson, announced his retirement last year and introduced Dr. Thy as his successor. I was ready to announce a boycott and swear off dentists forever. However, Dr. Watson made sure that the transition went as smoothly as possible. Also, I knew in my heart that Dr. Watson would not pick just anybody to succeed him...it's not in his character. It was on that basis that I gave Dr. Thy a chance. It was only last week that I had the opportunity to have some dental work done. I must say that, in my opinion, he has done his predecessor proud. He was just as meticulous as Dr. Watson. His bedside manner was also reminiscent of Dr. Watson's. He made sure I was as comfortable and pain-free as possible. He even made a follow-up phone call that evening to make sure I was doing fine. Dr. Watson could not have picked a better successor. Dr. Thy may not yet be as experienced as Dr. Watson, but I am willing to stick around and grow old with him :) By the way, I am so glad he retained Dr. Watson's staff...Terry, Celeste, and Sara are awesome!!!! I found Dr. Thy by sheer luck. I had a horrible toothache a few years back around the holidays and was in search of a nearby dentist close to home. While calling random dentists I was referred to Dr. Thy by another office. At this point it's been over a year from being to the dentist. Dr. Thy and his staff was so welcoming and helped me any way they could to fix my pain. Because of this nice experience I kept going back for all my dental needs including cleanings, fillings and crowns. Everyone from his front office Celeste, his assistant and his cleaning staff all have been so nice to me and my family. I went to Dr. Thy for cleaning and a check-up and was pleasantly surprised at how honest and knowledgeable he was. I had a crown put on at another place and just by looking at it, he could tell about how long ago it was done. I knew that the last dentist did not do a good job with the crown and Dr. Thy could see that also but instead of putting that dentist down, he just said he would have done it just a little differently but it probably was the best that dentist could have done at the time given the complexity of my tooth. He could have easily tried to persuade me to get another crown but he said it could go a little bit longer to save me some money. Dr. Thy worked on filling one cavity for me and was extremely patient with my constant interruptions from a bad cough. He was very careful and took his time on the procedure instead of rushing through it. I am usually terrified of going to the dentist but Dr. Thy and his staff put me at ease. Great and honorable dentist with no upselling and a wonderful team of friendly staff...by far the best dental office I've been to. read more

I worked as a dental assistant many years and really expect a professional and gentle dentist. I have been going to Dr Watson for many years as was sad to see him retire but he did pick an excellent replacement with Dr Thy. He is very gentle and has excellent dental skills. I recently broke a front tooth and he fixed it to look just as natural as my original tooth. I highly recommend him for any of your dental needs and his staff, Hygienists, Dental Assistant and Office Manager are all very professional. Went to Dr. Thy 2 years ago for a second opinion. My dentist had suggested a crown replacement and found 3 additional cavities . Dr. Thy couldnt find any cavities or any problems with the crown. I have been with Dr. Thy for over 5 years and if I never have another dentist my whole life that would be amazing. Dr. Thy is the only dentist that I have ever felt comfortable and happy with. And that's because him and his staff are just genuinely great people. Dr. Thy isn't trying to make a quick buck off of you or push services. I can't tell you how many dentists told me I needed braces as a child and actually made me feel bad about it, when I never thought they were a problem. Come to find that when I am interested in spending money to correct my teeth, he explains the process but also reassured me that my teeth are great and appreciated natural teeth too. Went in for a root canal a year ago, immediately had problem because they made the crown too small and there is a gap between it and the next tooth. They kept insisting that the guns will heal and everything will settle down. Now the gums still bleed because every time I chew food jams between the teeth and causes gum irritation and pain. read more

We essentially found this dentist online at random. The other dentists didn't have an immediate appointment, but Dr Thy had an opening, so we went with him. My mother who had dementia had her dentures lost in the hospital, so I sat beside her for each of the visits as Dr. Thy did his measurements. He spoke with me in the most congenial matter for every visit explaining every detail. As young as he was, he was a daunting expert, and I learned there is a great deal more to fitting dentures than simply manufacturing a set of teeth. He cared and was contientious about the quality and fitment of the dentures. Since there was a claim with Contra Costa county,(hospital lost the teeth) Dr. Thy's staff handled all these affairs by phone, so I didn't have to. They were friendly and genuine (Celeste in the office as well). I had utmost peace in handling the matter of my mother's replacement dentures, thanks to these folks. read more

Earlier this year I had a bad experience at another dentist office. I then developed a fear of getting back into a dentist chair. I needed some work done badly and quickly so I knew I had to look elsewhere in order to start fresh in a new environment. Five months later, my stepfather highly recommended Dr. Thy, so I heeded his advice and made my first appointment. I was immediately impressed by the kindness and professionalism of Dr. Thy's staff. And then I was impressed by him. He has a wonderful chair side manner, and explains everything thoroughly. He and his staff have been so accommodating and I am truly appreciative of all of them. So, one cleaning, and two crowns later, i am one very happy girl having found the most awesome dentist.
