I don't normal write reviews related to medical. Much more dentist. I chose this one since it got a lot of good reviews and accepts my insurance. Plus close to me. New patient here. Routine cleaning. The dental hygienist was pretty nice. She made sure i don't feel pain bec. I have sensitive teeth. Switch to manual vs ultrasonic scaler. Here's the thing, the good reviews don't much the service i got. I mean it's just an ok job. My previous dentists, they personally did the cleaning. The last one was the best since she takes time to clean my teeth, especially since I drink coffee. The dentist here was nice . But only came to explain the xray. That's all. That's probably how they operate since they have a lot of patients. I was expecting the dentist to do the actual exam. Do the cleaning then have the dental hygienist finish up. read more

Went back to Doc Chen again. It's always great to be treated like a valued patient by him and his awesome staff. Unfortunately, I have been to dentists that don't seem to understand that its a CUSTOMER SERVICE business. Unlike medicine, most of us are stuck in HMO's and we have very little choice in our doctors. In dentistry, there are PLENTY of choices. You could drive down any busy street, and see 3 dentist offices in most cities. Dr. Chen gets this. He understands we don't have to come to him, rather he values his customers/patients. Personally I think Dr. Chen is great but behind the scenes he controls everything even though it looks like certain decision are being made by his staffs. They claim their fees are lower than other dentists but I didn't find that true when they filed the claims to the insurance company. They also get mad when you point mistakes and threaten you with to send the bill to collections if you have disagreements with their charges. The place is nice and fancy and that reflects in their fees too. I have stopped going here and found a better dentist who doesn't always want to make money out of you. Just remember medicine is business and all medical doctors will try to milk the dental insurance and milk you too as much as possible. Ask for all details before you go for any visits. I have been going to this practice for more than 15 years and Dr. Chen and his staff always make me feel at ease. I am always greeted with a smile and never had a bad instance. They are pretty busy but always made it a point to confirm my appointment and I never felt rushed at any of the procedures including routine cleaning, that I regularly schedule twice yearly. They accept most insurance companies and not once did I feel obligated to pay more than what is customary. They go the extra mile to make you comfortable and relaxed. Going to the dentist has not been a priority because I always feel anxious as I have sensitive teeth. The hygienist are very attentive to the areas and always checks up on me during any procedure. Mostly Dr. Chen really cares about his patients and truly takes care of the overall well being of his patients. read more

Ms. Arcie explained the importance of maintaining regular dental check-ups & good oral hygiene, she took extra care during my xrays & cleaning, her attention to detail, expertise and kindness reflected her passion & dedication towards her job, I requested Ms. Arcie for my next cleaning appointment. I have been going to Dr.Chen for the last 8 years at least and have continued since going to college. I have always had a decent experience until today. I go to college over an hour away and scheduled an appointment for this morning a while back at my previous cleaning. When I arrived for my 8am appointment, they informed me it was cancelled. I received one call with no message left and no text message sent (they've always messaged me through text). With their $100 cancellation fee, I made it a point to be there, and for a no notice cancellation on their end was very disappointing. The receptionist when I had first walked in ignored me and when she told me it was cancelled and I explained I lived quite far away and had no notice, she had zero remorse. The second receptionist was VERY kind and offered me an appointment a few hours later which I appreciated, but couldn't due to work. I hope they take this criticism to be able to fix this, because it is extremely not considerate to the clients who pay them especially considering their cancellation fee, the gas it took to get their, and the wasted time. read more

I always have an easy time getting my teeth cleaned here because of Arcie. I am very sensitive and had seen several dentists before meeting her. She's very welcoming and always checks to make sure I am comfortable. Best of all, she's very gentle. I can't wait to bring my kids here to get their teeth cleaned by her. I'm a new patient of Dr. Chen's and I was honestly happy to finally be seen somewhere near for once. I was referred to Dr. Chen by my mom and aunt as they highly recommended me to have him as my dentist. The staff were all friendly, and Dr. Chen has great bedside manner. I'm giving this a 4 star review because there was a huge discrepancy between when I should be returning back between the hygenist and dentist. Dr. Chen said my teeth look great and I should be seen in 6 months but the hygenist who helped me out for my appointment yesterday said that I need to be seen in 4 months for an additional evaluation if I needed a deep cleaning or not. Of course, I didn't want to take any chances with impacting my oral health so as I was checking out at the front desk, Dr. Chen told the receptionist that I can be seen in 6 months but then I also told her the hygenist wants me back in 4 months which led to the receptionist to booking me for a 4 month follow up. I honestly felt a bit suspicious that the hygenist said I may potentially need a deep cleaning because I have a good record of having great oral health and my former dentist's team, who I have been seeing since I was a little kid, would have told me that. With this discrepancy I encountered, it really gives me an impression that a patient's affordability to services is not a priority in that office as I am aware that deep cleaning is very pricey. read more

Both the hygienist and dental assistant were superb with a gentle touch and friendly demeanor; the nice woman at the front desk was efficient and accommodating. Went there 10 years ago for a cleaning special that cost $100. I let the dentist know that there is a tiny chip on one of my teeth and he proceeded to make the tooth smooth using his instrument. When I went to the front desk to make the payment, I was told the cost was $200 and not the $100 I was quoted with. I knew I would receive the dental reimbursement of $200 so I did not bother to confront with this unethical dentist. At the same time I knew I would never go back there again and would not recommend anyone do so unless you are loaded and like people taking advantage of you. You do not charge a new client $200 (double the original amount) without telling them before hand that would be the cost. What an X Whole. read more

The staff are very nice. The service is good. The improvement area is to ask for the permission before providing out-of-pocket additional services outside of the insurance coverage. I was surprised to get $56 co-payment when I thought it was just a regular clearing. It turned out that my Delta premium insurance covers 3 times cleans and two time oral exam per year. So I received the 3rd oral exam that I had to pay out of my own pocket which I am not happy about out. If I was asked ahead of time, I would choose no because I don't have any issue with my teeth. Update: after the initial review, I got an immediate response from the office that they apologized for the bad experience and promise not going to happen again to provide any out-of-pocket service without checking. Also, offered $100 for the apology. Thank you for taking the feedback and improving your service. It will benefit to all your customers. I am changing the rating from 3 to 4 stars. read more
