I really need to start keeping better track of that darn registration that always creeps up on us every year or two. Sometimes you get so busy you can't help but to lose track of it. Low and behold here we are tire screeching into the parking lot at the very last minute just to get it done (not really just wanted to add to sense of urgency). Being very urgent on the timing I knew my options. Wait for hours at the state mvd, hit up mvd express with the possibility of still a wait, or hit up MVD and get it done with minimal wait. Honestly if I wasn't crunched for time these days I would've probably hit up the express but seeing as the lack of time available I figured I'd pay the extra 10 bucks. Money well spent! Soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and immediately taken care of. The process took about 10 min and I was out the door. They have a stiff $30 fee they tack on but in these circumstances it was well worth the convenience of prompt service. Thanks again MVD Now! read more

We went here on a Saturday morning to register our new Camper Van and it was an unpleasant experience. There were relatively few people there but there were only two staff and the supervisor had locked herself out of her computer because she'd forgotten her password. I worked in tech for 25 years and it happens occasionally, but you call someone to reset your password. You don't sit around helplessly when you have 10 people waiting. Beyond that she seemed very chaotic and disorganized. It took her 10 minutes just to take our names and another 10 to start helping us. But THEN after her confusing and chaotic help we had to wait another 10 minutes for the one active employee to process our info. SHE was very efficient. Another woman had been at the counter when we came in and was waiting for her daughter to come in to finish the transaction. Apparently the chaotic supervisor had missed this conversation and rudely interrogated the woman about why she was there. It was such a bad experience that I opted for a main MVD branch when I had to do update my driver's license. I understand that bureuacratic work like this is difficult but it's more difficult when the person you're relying on for help is chaotic and inneficient. read more

She was a joy to talk to, and she made sure all my information was up to date on every document. Service was incredibly quick, I was in and out in less than half an hour with no appointment. Decided to stop by during a weekday after having put off a process of getting a new driver license transferred from another state for so long. I just wasn't sure how long the process would take and what I needed to bring. So, on a day when I felt like my schedule wasn't hectic, I decided to walk into this privatized MVD Now business and strategically forgo going into the government's DMV place, just because I didn't want to deal with any hassle of waiting and non-sense processes, especially if I had to deal with slow governmental places. My patience typically did not run high, so I figured this place could save me from turning myself into a hot heated head :-) I dropped by and was assisted immediately by a lady in front of the shop. She inquired what I needed (transfer the driver license to get a new NM driver's license REAL id) and checked my document. The process was brief, but I wished she really knew what document I needed. For instance, she simply asked if I had a birth certificate and I said I did not (when in fact, she could use either passport or permanent residence card in lieu of birth certificate). I also wished that she was a bit more clear of what I could expect of it. For instance, at one point, I had to stop and ask to double check her if I would be able to get REAL driver license ID or just regular driver license...and if I didn't inquire, she would just proceed with documents that would only get me a driver license (although I specifically I wanted a real ID one --which I would be able to use for domestic air traveling). Overall, though, the process itself was quite good. You put in your document and go wait in a car (due to COVID--which I liked!). They call you once the are ready to process your papers. The staff was kind and friendly, so that was a plus. I was in and out of the place probably within 30-45 minutes, which was a plus. The charge was a little over $80 (pretty expensive compared to governmental price of $49 if you were to go through governmental places). But hey..for additional $39ish, I was totally fine with it, especially if I didn't have to spend too much time dealing with all the bureaucracy. And, plus, how else would a private business be able to survive if they didn't upcharge or their services. Overall, I would consider coming to this place again. Save all the time and hassle. I was just glad it was pretty pain-free even when I went in without any prior appointments and, what's more important, I now have a new driver license to use without having to worry for the next 8 years about the upcoming ID expiration date! read more

They asked for two forms of proof of my under 18-year-old son's residency, instead of just an affidavit from me. Also, they insisted I sign a credit card receipt before seeing an itemization. Tried to get a driving permit for my 15 year old and was told. I needed 1. Birth Certificate "Presented" 2. Social Security Card "Presented" 3. Two proofs of residency from a religious organization, School or bank statement or lease agreement.. I informed them NM State regulations says that Form MVD 10021 affidavit from a parent/ guardian is all that is required if said guardian has a NM state real ID. The women on phone told me to go to DMV and wait inline there and that she does not care what the state says. I called to speak with a supervisor and the same women answered the phone told me I could not speak with a supervisor and that if I did not give them what they wanted they would make sure my child did not get a permit. MVD Now is making up its own rules if you do not give them money as bribe they will not help you. Go to State DMV. Do not support this kind of corruption. They really pushed that we needed something from the church. No magical sky daddy worship here. Educate yourselves. read more

These workers are miserable. For a service oriented business, it is shocking how horrible their attitudes are. Today, I wanted to renew my license and showed up with all the docs: passport, current DL, bank statement, mortgage statement, everything. They denied service because my mortgage bill was due on 7/01/2021 and today's date is one week past that. Unbelievable. Their website does not state that it must be the most current. Horrible customer service. I am the Personal Representative to an Estate and trying to get VIN inspections done on the mobile home, on site, for almost a year now. They have dragged their feet, sent emails of appointments with less than 24 hours notice, doubled the price, and require me to pay my personal money ($550) to secure an appointment since the owner won't take a check and the bank won't issue a debit card on an estate account. Go anywhere else if you can actually find someone to do an onsite VIN inspection. (MVD, state police and sheriff's office won't do one either, so good luck) read more

I went in with a pre-set appointment and there were three employees working at the time. However, only one was truly "working" and the other two were chitchatting. After a 10 minute wait (note: no one else was there waiting except me) - I went to the desk to find out they couldn't help me. I went in for a name change with my receipt from the SSN office, my original SSN card, and other documentation and they told me they couldn't help me. Due to research and guidelines from the SSN office I knew that wasn't true. I called an MVD Express after leaving this office and they were able to service me. I received 3 emails and 3 text messages about my appointment, asking me to confirm, which I did. However, when I showed up (on time) for my appointment, I was told, "Sorry, we can't do it today - our system is down." I asked why they did not send me a text or email to cancel or reschedule my appointment. The response I got was a shoulder shrug. The employee gave me a card with a list of their other locations and said, "Maybe one of the other locations is close to you." Umm, don't you think I picked this location because it was the closest??? And wouldn't you think they would offer to make another appointment for me? Nope. I believe the stuff made a mistake. I showed my Social Security Card which is with "Valid for work only with DHS authorization". They required me to provide the DHS authorization card but I said I have never had/seen such kind of card. I came back and checked online, it is written that such 'restricted' SSC should be accompanied with either DHS authorization card or "passport, I-94 and proof of employment". The stuff didn't mention the later one which made me waste my whole morning. It is true that they cannot handle the "out-of-state" issues well. read more

Okay, first let's separate the State's requirements from the poor folks having to implement those requirements. You have to read the NM government's website at least ten times to figure out the basics of what you need for a drivers license and plates and title. Nothing is in one place, the steps are not in order - real NM. The individuals in the office were great. The were friendly and knew their stuff. They got me through the process in a few days - not their fault. I failed to find the small print in some odd section of the State's website. Filled a lot of forms by hand, can't believe that the government still kills trees for electronic records. The big shocker were all the charges, but then it's a business. I don't know if the other offices are better but there was something about the other places - may be a former gas station or 7-11 did not inspire confidence. The bottom line I got it done, a few dollars lighter and I finished my book. read more

Oh, New Mexico. How you slay me with your incompetence. "I'm sorry, sir, the DMV system has been down for the last week, so we can't do a driver's license right now. I don't know when the system will be working again, but we can't help you at the moment." The really ridiculous truth about this interaction was that, after they told me this, I just nodded and said "Okay, thanks." Like, I was actually anticipating that this would be the case. Truth one: if you don't have a vehicle and you live in Albuquerque, you're screwed. Back in college, I didn't care, I had a bike and I had friends that I could mooch for rides, so it was cool. But once I scraped up enough greenbacks to buy a crappy used car, time and time again, my experience with the DMV went way, way beyond everyday asininity. Over and over again, the DMV computer system was somehow down state-wide, and I'd often learn about this after waiting an hour for my ticket to be called. So what happened? Well, thanks to capitalism, the supposedly free market swooped in to supposedly make life better, i.e. MVD Express (I hate her radio commercials, for the record). Translation: now you could pay an additional fee to get to the front of the line quickly to find out that the system was down state-wide. Over the years, the free market has proliferated additional competitors and in my limited experience MVD Now has been pretty good. They have a loyalty program that offers solid discounts (I'm a member) and the service seems to edge Express. Now that the state system is back online, I'm a little peeved that it's taken over a week to get a new license in the mail, but I'm guessing this has nothing to do with MVD Express. So go with these guys. They're tethered to an antiquated system that could crash at any moment, but at least they'll deliver the sh@tty news with a smile. read more

Stay away! I took my 71 year old mom to get a state ID. They wouldn't accept social security card, her current SC ID and two utility bills. We had to go back and get her lease, then that wasn't good enough with matching current utility bills. We ended up leaving, getting her birth certificate and going to another location. If you think you're going to walk in, get an ID and walk out, you are mistaken. It will always be two trips and take at least two hours. These people have no common sense. Complete morons. We ended up at the MVD Express on Menaul. We got my mom an ID and left within 20 minutes. We had the same documentation. It seems like the girl with the fake eyebrows is making this up as she goes along. The positive reviews here have to be fake. read more

This place is a waste of time, the two girls working up front have no idea what the hell they are doing and ended up wasting my time rather then helping me. First off I was told the date on my title was incorrect because of the month the car was purchased then sold to me. I was given a correction affidavit and was told that it needed to be signed and notarized in order to get my title After returning with the signed correction affidavit I was then told that I had to ALSO get the bill of sale signed ( which wasn't given to me because the first girl I spoke to FORGOT) When I returned AGAIN with the signed bill, I was then informed my emissions slip SOMEHOW wasn't there ( I checked everything before I handed it to her. In the end I couldn't get my car registered because of the useless pretty faces up front who don't know how to do their job. The manager also did a terrible job at trying to fix it because he obviously didn't give a shit. I left frustrated and unhappy and will not recommend this place to anyone trying to save time. I went into the location at 1100 San Mateo to get a copy of a car title. The person who assisted me (possibly KL -zia sun symbol earrings) was courteous at the beginning but took an inordinately long time to complete a simple application even when presented with all of the necessary documents up front. Then, one of the printers got jammed and she along with a co-worker (2 out of the 3 employees at serving customers at the counter) spent a good 15 minutes trying to clear the jam rather than tend to customers and simply using the other printer. As the store filled up with people waiting to be served, the two futilely stooped over the back of the printer to no avail. She finally returned to the counter and used the other printer to make copies (3 pages of documents, which took her 2 trips to the alternate printer to accomplish). Not fully understanding the situation since she was explaining almost nothing to me about the delay, I politely asked her if the second printer was available the entire time. She refused to respond and I asked her again. She then reluctantly admitted it had been available. I said nothing until I got charged $40 for a $5.00 transaction -- the $35.00 being the additional amount for the purportedly express service. At that time, I commented only that the $35.00 was for express service. She understood the irony and glared at me. I then apologized as I was passively conveying to her my frustration with the transaction. She said nothing and continued to glare at me. I thanked her and left. A transaction that should've taken 10 minutes ended up taking at least a half an hour of my time. Overall, the service was inefficient and the employee was rude. Do not use this location. Their Customer service is the worst that I have experienced in many years. Had to wait for an hour in 98 degree heat outside for an appointment that was scheduled a week before, only to be told that both parties needed to be present. I inquired online with their app and was told I could go in alone. Set a second appt for first in the morning when they open only to have them take a walk up person ahead of me. After waiting 15 minutes past my appointment time they could not process my request due to correct residency. This was very frustrating because during the first appointment I was told I had everything needed and confirmed just the second party was needed. They only have one person processing items and do not offer to help in any way to resolve. She also offered to falsify the weight on the title to process. Not a good or reputable office. We went to their competitor and we're in and out in one appointment and complete in 15 minutes. read more

The woman was very kind to all other customers EXCEPT me. This mvd express is terrible. I have gone there 3 times and every time I go no one acknowledges new comers. Some people get preferential treatment. Employees carry on personal conversations with some customers and or other employees and ignore the fact they have lots of people waiting. Try either Menaul location. Way better! read more

This is a private expediter, not the state MVD agency, with very friendly service, and they are probably OK for simple things for existing New Mexico license holders. But they are not experienced enough for transfer of an out-of-state license with multiple endorsements to the New Mexico equivalents. Coming from California, I had a "Class C" automobile drivers license, equivalent to New Mexico "Class D". I also had a California "M1" unrestricted engine size motorcycle endorsement, equivalent to the New Mexico "W" motorcycle endorsement. MVDNow said I needed a New Mexico basic motorcycle rider safety course card, and they would not accept the California Highway Patrol safety course card, as it was out-of-state. So I went over to the state MVD office on Menaul Blvd., and the state employee said with my existing unrestricted "M1" endorsement on my CA license, I would receive the New Mexico "W" endorsement, without having to either i) provide a California motorcycle safety course card, or ii) re-take the written exam and road test offered in the New Mexico basic rider safety course. So I traded in my CA license, and left the state MVD office with my New Mexico temporary "Class D" automobile license and "W" motorcycle endorsement, without having to take the New Mexico Basic Rider Safety course MVDNow said I needed. The permanent license should arrive in the mail in a few weeks. MVDNow is correct in that if you are applying for a new motorcycle endorsement in New Mexico, without an endorsement on an existing out-of-state license, the State of New Mexico will not accept out-of-state rider safety course cards as road-test equivalency for a first-time endorsement applicant. So if you've never had a motorcycle endorsement (or your endorsement has expired) and are coming in from out of state, wait until you get to New Mexico to take your rider safety course. Otherwise you'll either have to pay to re-take the rider safety course in New Mexico, or take the written & road tests at the state MVD office. read more
