We worked with Mat and DJ Mike Ramirez for our wedding in May and were honestly pretty disappointed with what we got in the end. They did a good job during the ceremony, speeches, cake cutting, etc. but when it came time for the dancing (arguably everyone's portion of the night), it was clear that there wasn't any prep, intention, or mixing of the music. They did play music we liked and had given then as inspiration, however there were no transitions at all between songs. In fact, many times a song would end, it would be quiet, and then the next song would just start without any transition. It felt very abrupt and awkward, and took the momentum out of whatever song was playing before. They also did not play all of the songs we gave them on our "must-play" list, and in one case played the same song TWICE, within 20 min of each other (which our guests noticed). We were also so upset to find out that the DJ told one of our guests that they "weren't allowed to play hip-hop", which was certainly something we didn't say.
