I have used this cleaning service three times and all three times were good, though to varying degrees. My only complaint about this company comes from the fact that you can't always be sure what to expect because you won't always get the same people. Obviously when you use a person, rather than a service, for the most part the quality is consistent. You don't have that same quality control with this service, BUT they do seem to hire very diligent people. For me, the pros of this cleaning service outweighs the cons mentioned above, and the biggest pro is scheduling. The first time I used them I was able to get next day service, the second time I was able to get SAME DAY service, and the third time I called in the afternoon and was able to get early morning. I have cats, so the idea of leaving the door open/giving a key and letting someone come in terrifies me (one of my cats waits by the door and tries to dart out whenever it opens) so I always want to be home. As a law student, my schedule can be extremely inconsistent, so knowing I can schedule with very little notice fits perfect with my lifestyle. Overall its a great service. I bought a Gilt City for this company and scheduled a "deep cleaning" for my small 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. Overall, I would say the cleaning was superficial- under all the dressers in the bedrooms, the bathroom mirror, the shower, and stove grates were not touched. I wasn't too upset because I have read about their satisfaction guarantee, but after I did not hear from them after my first email, I was disappointed when I sent another email with no response. The ease of booking them online was nice but it also makes you think since I have a relatively small place, that it would've been the same price as another 2 bedroom, 1 bath of different dimensions- not sure if the pricing is fair. read more

This was my third experience using My Boston Maids. Unfortunately, there was only one young woman available to clean my apartment. Guess what though? She did an awesome job! She was fast, efficient and very very capable of doing everything I needed done. Very happy with this experience as well as my other two. I wasn't able to get the young lady's name because of the language barrier, but I went and sat on my porch outside while she cleaned inside and I was so thrilled with the work she did, that I gave her a nice tip! I was excited to book with MBM after they won "Best of Boston" but, unfortunately, my experience was pretty mediocre. After booking a deep cleaning, I received an email only a few days before my scheduled cleaning to say that the service could not be done because their "cleaning team" for the day had canceled. Frantically, I aimed to reschedule and did for a day earlier than planned. Because of this change, one bedroom could not be accessed by the cleaners. I thought the company would be honest enough to only charge me for a 1 bedroom cleaning (as opposed to 2 bedroom) but I still got charged for 2. Also because of this scheduling change, the deep cleaning I was charged for did not actually cover any attention to changing bedsheets as promised in a deep cleaning because I could not have the bedding ready for the new day. In addition, the service did not last as long as it should have and I was disappointed with the level of cleanliness after the fact: the toilet still had a lot of dirt trapped between the bottom lid and the basin, shelves were still dusty, and mirrors had some streaks left behind. I called to ask for a reimbursement for the uncleaned 2nd bedroom and was promised it would post in my account in 2 - 3 business days. Almost a week went by and I had to call again to make this happen. It was easy to get ahold of someone every time I called but was constantly having to call back. The good: the people who came were very nice and friendly, and showed up on time. It was nice to get me started, but I had to clean more thoroughly after they left because they were sloppy and lazy and missed a lot. Not as detailed as I expected. The way they book your time is by the bedroom, not the hour, and they blew through my 2 bedroom house in under 2 hours and seemed to be rushing through it. I kept having to tell them to move things to get behind them. They did not clean behind the kitchen sink or the kitchen counters because they would have had to move my coffee maker, etc. off the counter. They didn't touch the kitchen table. Faucets were not cleaned. The toilet was not scrubbed, they dusted some areas and not others, the edge of the tub was cleaned 90% and the other 10% left dirty, floors were not scrubbed and areas were left uncleaned. The room I specifically asked to be detailed was gone over very quickly. And as they left, they tossed the contents of the dirty mop bucket INTO MY YARD. When asked for feedback, I told them how I felt. No response. I also emailed Paul to make sure he received my feedback. No response, so their "200% satisfaction guarantee" is obviously just a ploy to get you in the door. If they had responded and offered to correct any of this, or even apologized, I would not have written this review. They also go by PJP cleaners. I'm on the 3rd weekly cleaning with this company. I have 2 cats and fur is everywhere; they get most of it. Paul and his partner are very efficient and seem to have a good work ethic-- very professional and yes, they do move things and clean under them. Each week gets better and better; they get here on time do the job and leave. Reasonable and dependable, beyond better than any other service I've used (I think I've gone thru all of them). I had them come to my apartment for a "deep clean" and it was anything but. My kitchen and bathroom counter tops still had the same stickiness and residue as before and neither faucet had been cleaned both with noticeable residue. The toilet had not been cleaned either and was still clearly dirty under the seat. The full trashcan in the kitchen was left untouched. I had left in there old food that I had thrown out the night before assuming the trash was going to be taken out first thing the next morning and when I came home, the kitchen smelled only of old food. The only thing that was thrown out was all of the hand soaps in the apartment, inexplicably. This cleaning would have been terrible if I had just paid for their regular cleaning so I am pissed we paid so much extra for a deep clean. Do not use MyBostonMaids!!! read more

I was going to give them five stars but then I thought about it and I don't think that last star was QUITE there. I wouldn't hire them again without the half-price deal I had this time from Groupon. But considering how quickly they responded and were available, and how much they were able to accomplish in such a short time, I think they clearly earned a 4-star rating. They showed up on time, they were friendly, and best of all, THEY DID WHAT I ASKED THEM TO DO. I only wanted them to clean the floors, emphasizing the nooks and crannies and the baseboards where dust gathers - I just wanted them to do a super good job on the floors and forget about everything else, which is something I'm sure people don't ask for too often. But they totally did it, and then when they had time left they asked what else I'd like them to do, and they actually made my kitchen look pretty darn great in twelve minutes. But my point is, I had written down a detailed list of priorities - you know, do first floor first, then guest room, then stairs, etc - and they followed it. The cleaning company I hired before this one just totally ignored my list and my instructions and did what they usually do. (That was The Maids and I'll get around to writing that review someday.) And another great thing about My Boston Maids? This is going to sound sort of racist - well, not really racist. Language-ist? - anyway, they spoke English. I'm certainly not saying that what language you speak has anything to do with how well you can clean a house, or how good a review I give you, or anything like that. But it DOES have a lot to do with how well you can communicate with the hirer and follow instructions. They both communicated with me well. The previously mentioned company sent three women, none of whom spoke English well enough to really understand what I wanted. I found that very frustrating. That fifth star would be there if there had actually been zero dust in the corners and sides of the floors, since that was what I told them to concentrate on. It was a pretty darn good job, but there was still some crap in the corners here and there, and they forgot to do a little bathroom on the first floor (I reminded them and they did it right away) - that kind of thing. So yeah - for the half-price deal - (am I allowed to say prices? $160 for two people for 2 1/2 hours, a 45% discount according to Groupon) I'd hire them again. Friendly, thorough people who work quickly, follow instructions, ask questions when they need to and have quick availability are hard to find. read more

Our appointment was at 1pm, I waited for an hour, no one came, tried to call them, email them, no response. It's a such disappointment.

I would give zero if I could. Charged for five hours. Sent two people for a hour and a half. Booked deep cleaning, this was anything but. I did call the office and Paul stated someone would be out to correct my concerns. Nothing happened. Seems like this company uses two names pjp cleaning and my Boston maids. I called this company as a last minute resort. I've never used a cleaning service and was calling all over the city- I am glad I got them! I called them and they were able to come SAME DAY within 3 HOURS! I really thought it was too good to be true but they def lived up to expectation. The apartment needed a quick deep clean and by the time they were done it literally looked brand new and it was spotless. We even got compliments on how clean everything looked. The 2 people that came were also very nice and asked us if we had anything specific to focus on. We will definitely be a repeat customer ! read more

I had a great experience using My Boston Maids for a nice deep clean before having people over for the holidays. They arrived a little later than the scheduled start time, but I was told in advance that could be the case due to traffic. Both workers were very friendly and asked me exactly what I wanted done and they took care of it from there. They were thorough and when they were finished they asked me to walk around and make sure I was completely satisfied before they would leave. First off, one of the 5 star reviews below didn't even end up using these services. To me, rating a company that you haven't even actually used is just silly, and I recommend disregarding that review. I recently moved into a new apartment and wanted it cleaned before I moved in any furniture. I saw a groupon for My Boston Maids and decided to give it a try. I did kind of think ahead of time that groupons usually are for lower-quality companies. This was no exception. They make a good first impression-- the website is nice and sleek, and it is easy to make a reservation. However, when I received a confirmation email, it stated a different time than the one I booked online. It was not obvious in the email that the time was different than what I requested, and I could've easily missed this. I emailed Paul and he said that they booked me for the other time because it's the only time they had available that day. I would've much preferred him ask me if that time would work for me rather than just book it. But, because I'm a nice person, I changed my schedule to accommodate Paul. I had a lot of other things to worry about with moving, so I didn't want to make any waves. They sent reminder texts as the date got closer, which was nice. The team showed up on time (even a bit early) and they were friendly. They got right to work. They cleaned my 1-bedroom empty apartment in about an hour, and I wish they spent more time. They were definitely in a rush to get out. For some context, the apartment, although empty, was pretty dirty. It was clear the former tenant had not dusted or cleaned... like... ever. There were spills on the walls, layers of dust.... I know I like things cleaner than the average person, but it was pretty gross! So, I was excited for the cleaners. However, I realized pretty quickly seeing them work that this was not going to be a deep cleaning. Considering they had an empty apartment to work with, I expected them to actually hit the corners of the windowsills, wipe down some of the dirt/spills that were on the walls, etc. What the heck else can you possibly clean in an empty apartment, anyway? They pretty much just did a quick wet wipe down of everything, and they were not detail oriented. Some other reviews on their site mentioned that they were attentive and listened to requests. So, knowing this and seeing how quick of a job they were doing, I asked them wipe down the walls. With some prodding, they did (quickly, and there was not much elbow grease going on) but said that they normally don't do walls because they're afraid the paint will discolor or something. I recommend they add walls as an extra-- they charge extra for oven, cabinets, and refrigerators.... they should add walls to that list I think. Speaking of cabinets, though, I also paid extra for them to clean the cabinets and when I opened the cabinets, they were still crummy! I was most disappointed with that. In sum, they pretty much just took off the first layer of dirt for me, and considering it was an empty apartment, I wish they spent more time and were more detail oriented. Get in those cracks, please! They probably assumed it'd be a quick clean since there's no furniture, but there is still so much they could've focused on, even in an empty apt! If you just want a quick wipe down of your place, or it's already in pretty good condition, then they'd probably be fine for you. If you're looking for a deep clean, look elsewhere. read more

Don't use this company. They let you book online and then change appointments to whenever they feel like it especially if you have a Groupon. Terrible customer service on the phone when you ask why your appointment was changed. But oh, they'll send out an emergency team for an arm and a leg, just can't use your Groupon for it. I don't even want to give them one star. I set up an appointment for 1PM on a Thursday. I used the online chat feature and called to speak to someone to double check that there was a crew available at that time. At 12:45 I received a phone call saying the crew would not arrive for another 30 minutes because they were still cleaning another house. 15 minutes late? Sure no problem. 1:30PM and still no crew and no phone call so I called and spoke with Paul. He told me that now, he "was just about to call me" and the car the crew is using is broken. He said "they've been trying for 30 minutes to get the car to start and it isn't starting." 30 minutes. Informed me that they are an hour away from my house (at the previous home) and stuck there because the car is broken there. So how could they be 30 minutes away before and now it's an hour? Something isn't making sense, but he promises me that the crew will be at my house at 2:45PM. That's an hour and 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment. It is now 2:35 and the crew calls me (so I'm hoping they're here!) to inform me that they will not be coming to my house today... at all. This is ridiculous! I call Paul myself to ask what is going on, his response is that he can re-book me for Saturday. I wouldn't book this place unless you want to sit around all day waiting for no one to show up. I had to look for a cleaner at the last minute b/c ours had to change the time earlier and our sink was clogged, and we had to wait for a plumber! I emailed My Boston Maids on the off chance to see if they were available, based on a recommendation from a friend who said they did a great job with not much advance notice. (This is for Passover cleaning which is pretty intensive.) Paolo, the manager, emailed me back at midnight, and arranged for a crew to come out at 5 pm, quoting me a very reasonable price. In the end, I didn't need him, but I am really impressed with their great customer service, and based on this experience plus my friend's, I would definitely call them again! read more

This is my first time writing a review, but my experience was so bad I thought it warranted signing up. I had what was supposed to be a 3 hour service of cleaning, and paid for additional upgrades to clean windows, cabinets, and the refrigerator. The cleaning person left after an hour to an hour and a half of mediocre work and did not complete any of the upgrades I had paid for. I emailed a complaint in and never received a response. I had to call twice before they agreed to send someone else out to complete the items i had upgraded, but only at a time that worked for them. They also said the 3 hours of work was "divided by 2 people so they are only scheduled to be there for 1.5 hours", which seemed very odd. That work was still unacceptable and I ended up just cleaning the house again myself. read more

I was in a bind time-wise and really needed my house to get a good cleaning. I saw a Groupon for My Boston Maids and decided to give it a go. Scheduling was very easy and I received a response very quickly. Three people showed up to do a 4-hour cleaning. They needed to clean 6 rooms in that time frame and I felt they did a pretty good job. I wouldn't consider it to be a deep cleaning but my house was certainly much cleaner after they left than before they arrived. I would definitely consider using them again. read more

I don't want to give this company any stars because Jay decided to not have a crew come clean my house after making me wait an hour and a half for a crew to show up. I had specifically arranged my work schedule to accommodate a morning cleaning and the time got moved from 11am to 3pm. They sent 5 emails and 2 texts reminding me of the date and the initial 11am time. I waited till 11:10am before I called and Jay told me a 6th email was sent less than 24 hours before the appointment with the time being at 3pm, so that was my only notification, again less than 24 hours before either time. Jay said he would send me $50 off my next service since I had purchased a Groupon and he couldn't refund me; ironically that's the one email I never got. 3pm comes around and no crew but they ask for an hour window so I waited till 4:15pm to call again. Jay said the crew was 30-45 minutes away so the earliest they would get here was 2 hours after the scheduled time that THEY switched the appointment to. I STILL tried to be reasonable and reschedule to another day because at this point my entire day had been rearranged and I couldn't wait anymore. But once Jay heard that I would be contacting Groupon to get a refund from them he all of a sudden said he wouldn't send a crew to clean my place at all ever. He proceeded to interrupt me and would not listen to anything I had to say once he heard I would write reviews even though I said I would WAIT to write this review until the cleaning was done to make sure I was being fair. He has the worst customer service, communication and business skills. He also tried to lie about his name after telling me Jay twice, saying his name was John Smith. However, Groupon DID refund me the full amount I paid and I did already purchase another cleaning service through another company. Stay away from this shady sketchy company. Its not worth the headache, especially if they don't do a thorough cleaning like one review said. read more
