The cleaners themselves may be kind, but zyp is sus, over-priced, and their customer service is horrible. Literally had the worst experience with them that I had to create a yelp account just to write this. Me and my roommate received a promotional card that said "25 dollar cleanings!". We have a very small apartment and we only wanted 3 tiny rooms cleaned as a one-time thing so we could start the month off fresh. As soon as the cleaner arrived I knew we had made a mistake. She brought her ~10 year old daughter with her, and said her daughter doesn't understand english and that she had trouble communicating herself, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE if not for what happened after, but it was honestly horrible & weird watching a little girl mop, anyway, about 45 minutes in, the mother handed me a cell phone and apparently it was her boss telling me the bill I received on the app was not correct and 70 dollars needed to be added to it since it was our first cleaning. I was extremely confused and asked her to further explain but she just repeated it and said, "don't worry it's a one time thing". Then the cleaner herself started saying the same thing repeatedly as I looked at her confused. How was I suppose to say "Okay no!" and kick these people out of the house after 45 minutes????? I planned to call back to at least understand the extra charge, but I would NOT have been writing this review if there was just that charge and no other issues. The mother and daughter left an hour later, the place was only cleaned on the surface, (floors were washed, counters were wiped, that's about it) I would have been unsatisfied regardless, but for the fact that I ended up being charged ~180 (I really thought it was going to be ~85) for 3 rooms you can hardly even spread your arms in is ridiculous. (The kitchen is 1/4 of the living-room, the bathroom is a short hallway w a toilet, and my bedroom is a small boston college apartment bedroom :,( ) The worst part so far is that I called to ask about the fee and possibly fight it only to find out that we are FORCED to have 3 more of these overpriced and suspicious cleanings. Zyp has been messaging me for months now brining up that the next cleaning is coming and I have to keep calling, asking to speak to a manager, and putting off these overpriced and unprofessional cleanings. I got a text at 11 pm last night asking if I was "ready to resume my cleaning for tomorrow". The whole thing is a nightmare. Stay away!!! read more

Beware. This company charges you without your permission. I ordered one cleaning for a bathroom. The cleaner didn't show up. When I called to complain and ask for a refund, their customer service said they couldn't refund but could send a cleaner to deliver the service I ordered in the first place, with no extra charges. So I accepted it. However, a few days later I found out that they had charged me the price of the full service again, without me knowing it at all. If I hadn't checked my credit card records, I probably wouldn't even notice this second charge. Their customer service was really hard to communicate with as well. So if possible, don't choose this company. If you choose to work with these people, be very careful and double check how much and how many times they charge you. read more

I have never had a better experience with a agency who cleans. Their card said "cleaning made simple", they surly stand by it. I have pets in my apartment, have gotten old and cleaning is not that easy for me any more. I've been hesitant with hiring help, but after my service from this company I'm not going to think twice about having them back to my apartment. They were very prompt with showing up on time, they used environmentally safe product which I had asked for. Everything was sparking clean by the time they were done. Will I recommend them to others? I signed up for Zyp as part keeping my New Years resolution to treat my time with my son with more respect - to value my time off and spend it with him, not wiping down the baseboards. My first experience was really pleasant. The cleaner was incredibly thorough, even changing our bed linens which was a huge surprise. She was super kind and made comments about how it is so tough to keep a clean house with a baby at home. She was great. My second experience? Well, let's just say it was less than stellar. The cleaner who I had the first time around had an emergency on the day I had signed up for. They rescheduled me for a different day, which was fine, if not a little stressful. TWO cleaners showed up this time, which I thought was a little odd since you pay like a flat rate, so why would two people work for the same price as one person? I left them at home with my sitter because I had to run my sick son to the doctor. While I was at the doctor, my husband came home and relieved the sitter. The company texted me around this time saying that the cleaners decided I needed a "Deep Clean" in all the rooms, which was an extra $10 / room (about $50, so a more than 50% increase in cost of service). I found this to be insulting - my home is not spotless, by any means (hence the house cleaners), but the deep clean service is described as being necessary after a house party. Basically, what it seemed like to me was that they were calling my home dirty so that they could make a quick extra $50 to make it worth the extra girl's time. I asked them to leave immediately - how embarrassing that these women who spend their days cleaning homes found mine to be dirty enough to require an additional cost. They would not leave until I threatened to call the police. There were still parts of the apartment left untouched, but I didn't care - I just wanted them out of my house at that point. I of course had agreed to pay the price for the original service agreement, so even though my house was still a little messy, I knew I'd be charged the $90ish it would have costed. Then I get a text message asking me to pay the extra $50 anyway because my husband had "agreed" to it. One of the girls had mentioned it to my husband like "you like the deep clean?" and he basically was confused by what she was asking, and did not understand that there would be an additional cost. I was so surprised by this bold move of texting about $50.... like this customer experience was already bad enough and you have the audacity to ask for $50 you tried to scam off of me? Thanks, but no thanks. Long story short - this service is fine until its not. They left quite a bit to be desired in the way of customer service. The first cleaner I had was great, and I'm sure many of the others are as well. I decided instead to put a listing on Care.com and hire someone from there. I'll feel better about having the same person all the time, and never having to worry about a weird added "fee" like this again. read more

I had a very negative experience with Zyp. They don't allow you to cancel your subscription until you've had three scheduled cleanings, and you can't see the cleaners' reviews before they come, nor can you choose your cleaner. Also, although the cleaners were very professional and friendly, they did the bare minimum of cleaning in the bathroom, which I could easily have done myself. I was expecting them to maybe use a magic eraser to clean the walls of the shower, or help with the discoloration on my bathroom door, or other things that go beyond just cleaning the toilet and the tub. Yet when I called Zyp I was told that these are considered "deep cleaning" services that are not part of the subscription service. Altogether totally not worth even the $26. read more

I found out about Zyp from a flier in my building. I liked the idea of 'on-demand' cleaning and charges per room. And I could make an appointment either on the phone or using their app. On Friday, I made a Saturday appointment and they showed up right on time. They did a very good, very thorough cleaning job on the rooms I wanted. Counters cleaned, floors cleaned, windows cleaned, mirror cleaned, bathroom cleaned, kitchen cleaned, carpets vacuumed, furniture vacuumed. So I'm very satisfied with the whole deal. And no tipping! (Even though they did a real good job and I think I should be able to give them something... but no.) I'll use them again. read more

Based on Yelp reviews and and extensive phone calls to Yelp explaining my needs and asking about their services, I booked their services. Not cheap, but I was told their services are "guaranteed". They would "spend as much time cleaning as needed". I paid extra ($24.99) for cleaning an extra room (outside / enclosed porch)as well as extra for more attention in my son's room. I was told they did not do heavy lifting / moving of furniture and that is a reasonable parameter. I planned the cleaning when my son and I would be out of town and my elderly mother was in charge of opening the door and being at home. I contacted Zyp before the cleaning to reconfirm the date and time and request 2 persons clean as my mother would be there and time would be more efficient. I had contacted several other companies / services beforehand and 2 services that came to the house has quoted me 3-4 hours with 2 or 3 persons. Zyp had a better overall price for their "guaranteed" service. Zyp would provide all cleaning supplies unless I requested something else specifically. I was very surprised to find out that 1 person was sent and she completed the cleaning in 3 hours. My mother did not know where I keep my vaccum and she said the one the cleaning person brought needed 1 hour to "warm up". The extra cleaning / outside porch was dusting and a vacuum job - partial - which took less than 10 min. When I returned to my home, it looked clean upon entering, but the job was FAR from done appropriately. Vacuuming and dusting was done on empty surfaces. Nothing on my desk was moved (pencil cup, notebook) to dust underneath. Dust and the same cobwebs were still under my bed, bureau, desk, etc. Stove top wiped down but not dials / burners. Fridge not wiped down, microwave not touched. Found an old french fry and napkin by my son's bed. Full size headphones under his bureau (with the cobwebs and dust). In the bathroom, powder spilled before cleaning was still there. No bookcases / shelves in house were dusted. What was dusted was cursory - not "professional" as paid for. Boggles my mind what was done for 3 hours. I know what was NOT completed. I did have the cleaner make my bed. She graciously put the fitted sheet OVER the extension cords and chargers I have ON my bed. Not rocket science folks ... I immediately called and emailed Zyp, requesting someone come to the house to look / verify the condition of non-cleanliness as their services are "guaranteed". I was told that they had to pay their cleaner and it was not economically feasible for them to send someone. I could receive a 15 % discount (which was less than the extra porch and son's room cleaning fee). It was also strongly inferred that my expectations far exceeded their ability and basically, that I was demanding more than we agreed upon. I immediately re-visited their website where they specifically listed services covered (ie: dusting accessible areas, wiping fridge, cleaning microwave, etc). All tangible tasks that were NOT done. I was promised a 20% discount - still a drop in the bucket and presented like it was a big sacrifice for them as a company, not taking responsibility for their services (or lack thereof) and invalidating the poor quality of their service. FYI - they are not insured or bonded... Needless to say, I have booked with one of the original services who quoted me 2 persons for 3-4 hours and presented me with a full list of services included (I could opt not or all) INCLUDING moving items, vacuuming and dusting under / on all surfaces, baseboards, window sills, appliances (in and outside), closets of accessible, etc. My advise is if you use ZYP, get any and all your requested services in writing BEFORE and ask them what their responsibility is if the work is not done. Their attitude to me was the work was done and I was not satisfied. Reality is, IT WAS NOT DONE AND THEY REFUSED TO COMPLETE IT - or even send someone out to verify. I was blamed for unrealistic expectations and I guess I should feel it was enough to receive 20% discount off a $170. payment ($36. discount = $136.) Total paid was and $4. discount off their base fee as I had already paid $30. extra for the outside porch and extra time in my son's room. RIP OFF. Curious to see if they actually do refund me at all. 4 days have passed and they said it would take up to 10 days to process a refund .... I will be more than happy to share my experience and before / after photos to anyone interested. read more
