The store is an adorable cottage-esque corner shop with such fun details littered all around. The staff was really sweet and pretty fast. I came on a Saturday morning and the place was packed, and although they only let in customers one at a time to order, the three people working in the small space behind the counter managed to crank the drinks out without much delay. I would probably give the staff a 9.5/10 just because they were so sweet. I didn't get to look very closely, so I can't say whether or not there were outlets:/ but there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Vanilla oat milk latte: 8.5/10 It was super smooth and creamy. The coffee wasn't acidic or over sweet. It was a really nice balance and just honestly quite good. Matcha latte: 7.5/10 They don't have it sweetened as the default (which they told us thankfully) but we got it sweetened with the simple syrup. It was really yummy and not grainy or bitter, but maybe a bit too milky. I wouldn't say it wasn't strong, but it reminded me of matcha milk-- maybe I would've opted for 2% or low-fat milk instead of whole. read more

Super cute cafe near UC Berkeley! There isn't tons of space, so this would be a great place to get coffee with friends, rather than a place to study/work. Their orange blossom lattes were great! Not too much orange, but enough where you can tell it's not a regular latte. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CAFE. One of the reasons is that it is family owned business. The owner and staff are super welcoming and loving. I noticed there are a lot of customers that come to this cafe often. Christine and Peter always greet everyone with a smile. If there's a dog, Christine immediately pulls out a treat for the dog you'll definitely get amazing service and great coffee here! The interior decor is so cute! There is plenty of seats at this mini cafe. I tried the matcha latte. It wasn't sweet but I do like my matcha latte with little to no sugar. Hidden in the bustle of Downtown Berkeley, I've passed by MY Coffee Roastery many times and never noticed this whimsical and quaint cafe. It really feels like you've stepped into a cottage in the middle of a forest! Because it's not super close to campus, you don't have to worry much about it being super crowded all the time. There is limited seating indoors BUT there is plenty outdoors too, and they were creative with their side tables as well, increasing even more spots to sit. Even though I came on a cold day, and I was still pretty warm as I sat there for a couple of hours.  I used to think the Starbucks chocolate croissant was the best until I tried MY Coffee Roastery's Pan Au Chocolate. My favorite coffee shop in Berkeley! I have been coming here for the past few months whenever I'm in town and the service here is always so kind and attentive. The ambiance is unlike any coffee shop I've ever been to and I absolutely love it. It reminds me of a cute little cottage. If I lived in the area I would definitely bring a book to read or my laptop to get some work done. I have yet to try any pastries but I will definitely pick one up on my next visit. I've tried hot and iced lattes here, but my favorite drink is an iced matcha with oatmilk and orange syrup. The lovely man at the register suggested the orange syrup to me as a sweetener for my matcha when I asked for suggestions and now it's my favorite drink from here. I think the owners are still the same as they were in its last two iterations at least, first as a quick lunch spot called the Rainbow Ranch Cafe and then as a Japanese-style bento box spot called Chloe Cafe. I think they may have hit on the right premise this time as they have decided to curate and roast their own beans to serve quality coffees in the instantly recognizable Hansel & Gretel-meets-IHOP house that just doesn't look like any other cafe in Berkeley. I came by after perusing the Downtown Berkeley Farmers Market. It looked like several people had the same idea as business was percolating, you should pardon the expression. Wow. How could you not give this place more than 5 stars? How could you not fall in love with this charming, clean, and lovely coffee shop with an amazing owner to match? I dropped by to grab a pour over and a bag o beans after doing some business at the courthouse a block away. The great reviews enticed me and Yelpers, you did not disappoint! Instead of heading to Asha Tea House for a dose of sugar and carbs I had myself a tiny but mighty 8oz drip of "I'm ready for the day whop ass coffee!" Since I purchased some beans, my $5 pour over was complimentary. The kind lady gave me a sample of some Panama coffee that turned out to be one of the most expensive coffees in the world. It tasted light, like an orange juice. I was surprised. I've never tasted a coffee like that. Only burnt Starbucks. She also had me smell the beans, and then smell the beans after she ground them. She explained that the ground beans are called something that I can't remember, and then the coffee, when brewed, is called the aroma. She gave me more education than any YouTube video I'd care to watch. It was very sweet of her! The coffee is mild--not harsh or acidic or sour and not dark or bitter. It's perfect. They also donate 25 cents for every cup of this they sell to aid in housing insecurity. Drink good coffee + do a good deed The building is this cute, medieval, fantasy-like spot. I've been to this lovely cafe twice now and it's one of my favorites. The orange blossom latte is my go-to and one I highly recommend. The lemon latte has a little bit more of a citrusy kick to it but also very tasty. The waffle has a sugary crunch to it and it is on the denser, cakier side. The almond croissant was light and had a chocolate filling that wasn't too sweet. I definitely preferred it over the waffle. The space isn't very big but we did manage to get a table outside and people were fairly in-and-out with their orders on the Saturday we were there. Cozy, Unusual Space with Good Coffee If you consider Peet's latte (and a lot of other coffeehouses') an ashy burnt concoction check out MY. This is a Lovely Latte! There are quite a few coffee cafes that have turned away from the dark French and Italian roasts to end up with lattes that have complexity, nuance and no charcoal. This, to my taster, is one of the best. And what a great setting! They've done a wonderful job creating a nice place to chat with a friend and enjoy a java and bite. Why did I dock them a star? While the latte is utterly excellent, it was the smallest cafe latte I have ever been served. They would claim, I'm guessing, that it's a standard size. But sorry, I don't agree. If you want a delicious, wonderful iced hoijicha latte with oat milk, My Coffee Roastery is the place! I was chatting a bit with Christine, one of the owners (I think her husband is the other owner), who said that she uses hoijicha that is sent directly from Osaka to her cafe, that is why it is so fresh. I agree! Another favorite of mine is their iced oat milk latte. Yum! The baristas - because I come here so often, I have gotten to know Angela, Kim, and Mitch - are really nice, attentive, fast, and super-skilled at making each drink taste awesome. Tip generously because they deserve it! I am 100% in their debt. Regarding food, they have a limited offering of high quality, tasty baked goods such as croissants, cookies, etc. They do not prepare meals. MY Coffee Roastery has lots of outdoor seating that is perfectly shaded - not so much shade that it is cold, but enough shade so that you are not baking in the sun. It's the perfect way to spend an hour with a friend, chatting over drinks and snacks, on a sunny day. Which is exactly the routine my friend and I have fallen into - after Saturday morning exercise at the nearby YMCA in downtown Berkeley, we walk through the Saturday morning farmer's market to MY Coffee Roastery, sip and talk for an hour. I came on the weekend and there was still plenty of space available. It looked like there was limited outlets inside to charge. I came on a cloudy day and was nice to have a hot tea and croissant. This place is so cute! From the outside it looks like a small chapel. Upon entering you are greeted with friendly faces. The place looks like a mom and pop joint that is family run. The interior is nothing like a have seen before and I am digging the vibe. It is quite in there, like in a church chapel. The decor is so unique with the hanging chandelier and stain glass details. I ordered a decaf latte and it came with the prettiest heart. It was also pretty good, but pretty pricey as well. Overall, I would return here again. They also have free WiFi.
