This place is amazing! Super chill, great food, and friendly service. Also, the background music was just right.

    Coffee was delicious!

I am definitely going back to this place. I also tried of their sandwich and it was so good. I keep thinking about how delicious is this place. Staff members were really nice.

Visited this place on a Sunday morning for brunch. The savory brunch menu items did not look super interesting honestly and needed better presentation. Tried the avocado toast with egg and the cheese burger. The avocado toast was ok, but not great. The cheese burger with added avocado and mushrooms was very good actually, something to come back for!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while! Way Station Brew has an inviting feel, with doors that stay open throughout the day to welcome visitors. For a cafe, they're extremely full-service. They serve drinks, breakfast, and lunch, and I believe they roast their own coffee beans. They have several tables inside and a patio in the back with outdoor seating. Two large windows at the front of the cafe allow plenty of natural light into the space. There is also a small piano inside the cafe, which suggests that there may be live music at some point during the week, although I'm not positive! We ordered drip coffee (free refills), a cappuccino, and a latte. The coffee was flavorful and the portions were large! Honestly one of the largest lattes I've ever been served at a cafe. We also ordered food! We got an avocado toast with a fried egg (not pictured, but the lemon zest was a nice touch), 2 fried eggs with bacon, potatoes, and toast (the bacon was a thick slice and perfectly cooked), and the corned beef hash with fried eggs. Everything was delicious, although I do wish the 2 fried eggs came with something more on the plate. It felt like it was missing something, maybe a small side salad. Way Station Brew is close to the UC Berkeley campus, and there is street parking available! Definitely try this place out next time you're in the area!

Let me just take a second to rave about the SCONES. I've only tried one so far, but it left me DROOLING and thinking about it more than I should. I was a bit hesitant at first to try the brie and date scone, but the combo is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Try it if you want your life to change. It was so buttery and flaky, AND it was fresh out of the oven. I scarfed it down in maybe 3 minutes, probably less. And the SIZE of it--so generous. I also got a cappuccino with nonfat milk. The espresso was smooth, and the milk was steamed to absolute perfection. One of the best cappuccinos I've ever had. This place knows what they're doing when it comes to coffee. I can't believe I didn't discover this place earlier, but now I'm going to have trouble keeping myself from their scones.

Really really awesome spot! We were walking into downtown Berkeley when we saw Way Station, and decided to give it a try. There's no AC inside, so on that particular day it was warm. Tons of seating, free WiFi, so great place to work. The staff is also unbelievably friendly. The store had a ton of unique equipment set up (homemade kombucha, this crazy cold brew machine), and they were super happy to explain all of it. Awesome people! I got a cortado and it was solid. The scones however are truly amazing, the best scone I've ever had. So buttery and flaky, and not dry at all. I started with a apricot (?) pecan scone, and it's not too sweet, with nice pops of fruit. Then got a ricotta scone, and this was great. The savoriness really balances the whole thing. Definitely give this place a go! The scones and vibes are fantastic.

Very cozy and friendly place. Not fancy, but not pricy and offer good coffee and foods.

I recently visited Way Station Brew on a Friday morning and it was busier than I expected. This place is open seating, you order first at the counter then pick a table. There's also plenty of tables in the back. I opted for the Way Station Egger and it was really tasty, especially the bacon. Believe it or not, I don't like all bacon, but this place makes them crispy with just the right crunch. The potatoes were seasoned well and when I cut into the middle of the egg, the yolk ran perfectly. This place is known for their scones and they didn't disappoint. I had a few bites of the blueberry scone that came fresh from the oven, so warm and fluffy. Don't expect service since this is more of a self-serve place as you'll need to bus your own plates/etc when finished. This place is at the edge of downtown Berkeley so plenty of metered parking or a paid lot nearby. I suppose you can street park in the residential areas, just read the signs. #11/2023

They have plenty of seating, and one of the biggest advantages is their excellent Wi-Fi speed, which makes it a reliable spot for remote work or studying. The atmosphere is enjoyable as well. There's usually music playing or a sports game on the TV, creating a comfortable, laid-back environment without being distracting. Their food selection is also better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. In addition to coffee and pastries, they offer cakes, breakfast items, and a variety of other snacks and treats, so there's always something to pair with your drink. Their hours are convenient, making it easy to stop by throughout the day. The only area where I think there's room for improvement is cleanliness. I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet. First impressions matter, and the café should be fully cleaned and ready for guests before the doors open. Customers shouldn't have to wipe down their own tables before sitting. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and would absolutely recommend it for the atmosphere, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options. With a little more attention to cleanliness before opening each day, it would be an even better experience.

Baristas explained that they are up for trying different and sometimes unusual combinations for their customers. I wasn't adventurous this time, but it made me want to explore in the future. I came here to work, hoping for a relatively warm and cozy spot that wasn't too sleepy. I was not disappointed. The wifi was good, music was fun and unobtrusive. Decorations and layout gave a friendly, welcoming environment. Not only were the benches and padded chairs comfy, the ambiance was kept even in the bathroom. Spacious, warm lighting, cute bathroom with a great mirror and cool sink. I don't ever ding places for hospital-looking bathrooms (you know, fluorescent lights, questionable floors, sand paper toilet paper...) but this was one of the few where I was impressed. Love Artis Coffee!…read more My wife and I haven't been on Fourth Street Berkeley in a long long time! Thankfully while doing some shopping and after a great meal at Divan Restaurant a few block away we popped into Artis Coffee. Wow! It was after 4 pm but what the hell, I ordered a cappuccino and my wife order a defca cappuccino, several pastries and took in the HUGE space! Our cashier was very friendly and appreciated our humor and debate on whether to have a "decaffeinated" cappuccino or not. I convince my wife to order one and she loved loved loved it! My "hi test" cappuccino was spectacular, smooth and perfect! Honestly, It took me back to Roma where we had aour honeymoon 22 years ago! Bella! Artis Coffee was okay…read more I had an Ube Latte, 12 oz, iced, with matcha and oat milk ($8.50 plus $2 tip) and it was good. Artis opened on December 7, 2013 and is located on the northern end of the Fourth Street Shops (a.k.a. Fourth Street Berkeley). This is a fairly spacious cafe with an industrial/warehouse, minimalist look. During my afternoon visit, it was busy inside and out on the covered patio. Lots of people on their laptops. Artis roasts their own coffee. Service was fine. I got a side eye from the cashier/barista when I asked where the water station was (it was my first time and I was unfamiliar with this place), but they were nice and polite otherwise. The water pressure at the self-serve faucet was too strong and sprayed water everywhere. Good for a coffee fix if you're in the area.
