Everyone at My Hair MD were wonderful. This honestly was not the most exciting thing to deal with, going bald. Its been about a year and there is a huge difference. Still have another 4-6 months of more hair to grow in. Laura who helped get me setup, was always willing to help me, calling me making sure I was ready, letting me know what to expect. She is 10 out of 10. Once I got to the office I wasn't sure what to expect, I met with Todd, Todd was extremely knowledgeable, helped me draw out the perfect hairline, that fit perfect for what I was looking. I had a phenomenal experience with this clinic. Honestly, Todd and the whole team were incredible. Laura was incredibly supportive as I was super nervous about getting something like this done. It's been nine months and my hairline looks totally different in a positive way. I swear it made me look like I'm 10 years younger. Three types of people are awesome here. It was a great experience. Todd was the medical director and he was helpful with the paperwork, giving me advice and helping me design my hairline. Decided to chose Dr. Garbutt at about 10+ years after my 1 transplant at a different Clinic. I was very happy with the results, but I needed more density along the hairline. The doctor and his staff made me feel relaxed, comfortable, and in good hands from the start. During the procedure I slept, had lunch and then went home. I gave this place two tries. First FUE, hairs were placed way too spaced apart. I figured I could give it another try a year later to make the transplant area look denser.. Unfortunately its has been 1.5 yrs since try #2 and the transplant areas still look really bad... In sunlight, under any light, it's glaringly obvious something funky is going on. Veteran that was robbed I scheduled an appointment after a consultation and made a down payment for treatment, As the date of surgery grew closer I was confronted with work related commitments that were unforeseen after the consultation. I called to inform Lisa of this and emailed proof of governments need for me. I was told by Lisa that "the surgery had already been scheduled" and "we can't really post one this" This was prior to 10 days of surgery... I am now retired and retired home ( not near their clinic ) I called Lisa to retrieve my down payment back, I was told no, and that I did not inform them I would not be in that day, funny. Because I even called Lisa the day before to CLARIFY I was not going to be present at that appointment. She then left me a voicemail later on AUTOMATICALLY scheduling me for a date of surgery without my consent or agreement, after I had shown I would be unable to receive treatment due to active duty responsibilities. Not only that but the graphs were increased to a higher price as well. Nice. I called them 3 weeks ago and requested the documents that we had gone over and papers I had signed as well as a contact number to the owner ( whom she said would be the person I would need to speak with in this matter ). She said she would email me those documents that day and the owner would return my call on the following Monday's 3 weeks later, and absolutely nothing. I do not recommend this place people, they will shake your hand and smile all while lying to your face with no intention of assisting you, even if you give them $500 from day one. I was told although I can not receive my money back, it still stays on file as a down payment for a surgery at a later date... okay so I don't get my money but it's still under my name as a down payment? So that still means it's my money yes? Not only am I unsatisfied with the customer service and professionalism, I will never recommend this company or location to any of my friends and family. The staff are friendly and the price reasonable, but the medical professionalism and quality of transplant are poor. I am about 2 years out from a transplant. Dr. G planted my follicles in the wrong direction, basically against my part, giving me the world's biggest cowlick on my forehead. There's also a spot on one side with just no growth. I never saw any plugs in that spot. It made me wonder if the woman on that side made a mistake. (the doc made the holes, two women filled them in). There was just so much awkwardness. Butcher-level hair clip to get to the transplant spot, kind of an open office environment, it was just weird. It looks better than before, but not ten grand better. I'm going to pay more per follicle and get this corrected. read more

For years, I thought about doing the hair transplant procedure but I was reluctant to do it until Nov 2021 when I met with Todd the medical director and Dr. Garbutt at MyHairTransplantMD. What a great experience it was. Needless to say after they explained the procedure and what they can do for me, I went ahead with the procedure and all I have to say I wish I have done it sooner. A year later I went from having literally no hair on the top of my head to having great hair and even greater hair line. The procedure was painless... but I did have very minor pain for short period afterwards. This was my second time getting hair transplant in My Hair Transplant, and the process seemed as good as before. First of all, Laura, who is my contact, has been as helpful and informative as before. I live in Bay Area (Dublin, CA), so I had to drive to Oceanside, and Laura and Todd provided all the information I need (med, lodging, what to do pre-surgery etc) in an ample time. The surgery took whole day (in my case in FUE on my top and front part for about 2500 grafts), with first half pulling grafts from the donar area, then lunch, and finally implanting the grafts to the transplant area. It was smooth and easy as before. Today is my 10th day, and I think by 6th day my scabs were all gone or I was able to carefully rub them off. As long as you follow instructions carefully, I strongly recommend My Hair Transplant. I had a rough time dealing with my hair loss and went to a hair restoration facility in mission valley, very big supposed facility that could take care of my need to not be bald anymore. They started to treat me good and make me feel comfortable, showed me the process and then came the talk over money. I felt like they had no set price and were looking to get as much as they could from me. The lady also became quit rude when I thought the price was too high so I left. I some how found this facility in oceanside. I felt, compared to the other hair restoration company was fair and I could work with them. Im 36 and I've been losing my hair since I was around 25. Before October you would have been hard pressed to find a picture of me not wearing a hat. I ALWAYS had my hat on. I'm getting married April 19th and I decided that I wanted to do something nice for myself for the wedding and that more hair would make me look/feel younger. I had my consultation on Wednesday, and it was very educational. I did a lot if my own research, but some of it you just don't understand without someone to answer questions for foreign terminology. I'm almost 29 years old and I work a relatively stressful job, but I've started receding a little bit more over the last few years than I'd like with some thinning in the middle of my head back to the crown. Outside of my job, my fiance asked me very politely what I wanted to do with my hair for the wedding (hint: shave it, hint hint). I had always had really thick, reddish hair and taking the pictures and being truthful with myself was really the first step. How painful that is, you really have to do it or you'll be like me wearing a hat everywhere you go because it makes you feel more confident. Went to Dr. Garbutt about 10+ years ago for two procedures of 1600-1700 grafts each spaced about 1 year apart. I was very happy with the results, but my hair kept thinning over the years. So, a couple weeks ago and had another 2000-2300 grafts. If it works as well as before it should give me another 10 years (when I will be 64). The procedure is painless; I think I fell asleep all three times. The recovery is as described by Laura, the case manager (?). It consists of about 3-4 days of minimal physical exertion and ice packs applied frequently for the swelling. Then, another 4-7 days of taking it easy until the stitches are removed and the tiny scabs that come with each graft naturally fall off. I waited until day 11 to go back to the gym. If I remember correctly it will take several months to become noticeable. At first, the new hair had a courser texture. I think it took the better part of a year and several haircuts before the hair "softened" back to it's natural feel. Ten years ago I was going to buy a new BMW X3 - Instead I got a new Honda CRV and a new head of hair for less money. It was one of my better decisions. read more

I noticed a small bald spot on my crown after someone took pictures of me from behind during a vacation trip. My hair was very close cropped at the time, but slightly longer that a buzz cut. I generally have really good hair. At 50+ I still have a full head of hair and even retain most of my juvenile hairline so the tiny bald spot was of concern. I went to see a doctor in Scottsdale Arizona during some free time I had during a business trip. He examined me and said he would NOT do any kind of transplant because the area was too small and in his opinion it may get worse as the transplanted hair may cause the already existing hair to become agitated and could fall out. I was new to this and it sounded reasonable to me. (Instead he tried to sell me a $3000 laser/baseball cap...I politely declined.) I was in Southern California on vacation about 6 months later and decided to get a second opinion. I found Dr. Garbutt's office online and scheduled an appointment with Laura. While waiting for the doctor Laura took a look at me and said in her opinion I looked fine and did not need anything. She said I already had more hair that 99% of men my age (or any age) (we laughed) and that the area to her was unnoticeable. The doctor arrived in the office about five minutes later and Laura gave him her assessment. He seemed a bit gruff (and totally bald himself btw) and quickly asked her for a spray bottle of water and a comb. He wetted the area down and then took the comb and combed all of the hair out away from the small crown area. Next, he took his phone camera out and snapped a flash photo of the area from about 2 inches from my scalp. He showed me the photo and it did look bad. He then took out a 8.5 x 11 sheet of transparency that had a grid pattern already printing on it. He began to map out the area. When he was done he had an area that was approximately 4 x 5 inches and said it would require about 1800 graphs and the total amount due for surgery would be over eight (8) grand. I left the office rattled as I thought the spot had gotten much much worse during that six month period between doctors visits. However, when I got home from vacation I became obsessed with taking a very close look at the area. It really did not look any worse. And when my hair is dry the area looks very full. Secondly, how could two doctors looking at the same area come to such different conclusions? What I do believe happened is the following: The first doctor, after realizing the area was too small to deal with, tried to up-sell me on another expensive (and quite frankly unsuccessfully proven) product. The second doctor, Dr. Garbutt, tried to use scare tactics to get me into an un-need procedure. By wetting down the area and combing it outward this created the illusion of a much more severe problem. By comparison, I did this with my own children who all have normal full heads of hair and it too achieved an area where the scalp became more noticeable. This would be true with anyone. Topping this off, taking a close up flash photo makes the area look even worse. There is simply no possible way I could have needed 1800 grafs. I concur with the previous reviewer who said they exaggerate the amount of grafs you need to compensate for their lower price. In my experience this is true. This all occurred over 4 years ago in 2014. The area has remained the same and since I let my hair grow out a bit on top from the buzz cut I have stopped noticing it. Quite frankly I may have over reacted and the area may not be an issue after all. And if it ever does became a problem I'll consider dealing with it...just NOT with this doctor. Beware of these type of "doctors" who up-sell and go with someone a little more trust worthy. It may cost more per graf but in the end it may be worth it (and cheaper- who knows) NOTICE: I would have given NO STARS but I had to give at least one in order for this review to post. read more

I chose this venue (although I am from northern CA) because of the economic cost and Dr. Garbutt's educational background at first, and that they only do hair transplants only so I felt comfortable in their expertise. The staff is friendly, professional and quick to respond with any questions. Roxanne was very helpful. I had a night at the Best Western complimentary from their office. The day of surgery I got to watch movies (although I was out for most of it from the sedatives), and I was fed sushi for lunch. I have been a patient of Dr Garbutt for over 11 years now. My favorite thing about working with this office is that they are very realistic and set clear expectations with their clients from day one. When I first went in I had just started losing my hair. I told Dan (the office manager) that I just wanted to have a full head of hair. When I sat down with Dr. Garbutt he advised me to be cautious because I was going to lose most, if not all, of my existing hair. I listened to him and THANK GOD that I did. Over the course of the next 11 years we have done 5 procedures and I have maintained a reasonable hairline when I should in fact be entirely bald. I had my eyebrow implants done. I have plenty of head hair being Asian and all, but no facial hair To include eyebrows. Roxanne is wonderful with how responsive she is and her honestly is what brought me in there. I knew exactly what to expect. She warned me that going to work the next day is a "no way" because my eyebrows will look like an inflamed scabby mess... closer to little dots of scabby mess around a ocean of inflamed pink skin ;-) My inquiry from the start was addressed quickly and she really worked as a consultant between the doc/myself to get what I wanted, set realistic expectations, then worked with me through a financing offer. The entire team was very nice and accommodating. They provided me a good and healthy lunch midway. There was nothing I could've said they could do better. I even received an email from the doctor with his personal number to call if I had any complications. Now that I'm post-op, the follow up is also amazing. Laura wanted yelp reviews so here it is... I dont know why she is working as a consultant or sales person, She doesnt seem to know what she is doing, It was indicated by her scrambling around her desk looking for papers that had no purpose, looking for before and after photos which showed only marginal results at best, and her answering personal phone callas WHILE in a sales meeting. It is my first time going to a clinic, so i wasnt sure what to expect,... but i know i shouldve seen more than this. I was blown away at how very little i learned that i didnt already know from online sources and forums... I think the first thing that shouldve tipped me off was when she pulled out a tracing sheet to determine where the new hair would be implanted, then she drew 2 big circles around the WHOLE sheet. I know i do not need much especially on the top. Long story short, I was given a quote for the front 2160 grafts, and one for the crown area, 1000grafts. I didnt know what this meant in the long run, so I decided to talk to some experts with 30+ years in the business at BOSLEY... NO, I do not work for them, I was just impressed at the night and day difference between these two places. The bosley team was VERY knowledgeable and even took scope pictures of my scalp, and I even met with the actual doctor how analyzed my scalp. In his opinion of 20 years of practice he was sure that a total of 1600grafts would give me the results i wanted. I was blown away,.. I know Bosley charges more than this place,... but not much more .. maybe $2 more per graft, sure it can add up..but think about what is going on here at this office where they must consistently over charge their patients and extract precious extra hair follicles that arent needed at this first surgery. just because they are cheaper they want to charge you more than what is needed. Overall my experience with this place was terrible.. Im not saying you have to go to BOSLEY and sign up for a loan right away,.. but at least think about what is going on here, and visit several clinics before deciding what to do. but, DONT go HERE! read more

I am post op 3 weeks and everything is healing nicely. Had no complecations or problems. The day of surgery, the office staff were very supportive and thorough, and Dr Garbutt was excellent and listened to what I wanted to achieve. The bulk of the work was done by the most patient nurse and technical assisstant in the world, Galina. She worked hour after hour, removing FUs and then placing them. She was patient and efficient. But even more important, she wanted me to be comfortable, so she would ask every so often how I was doing and if I wanted to take a break. I have nothing but praise for her. I still have a few more months to see the final results, but for now, I am very happy with the Doctor, the nursing staff, and the office folks. I've been to this place twice. Each time I've been blown away by their professionalism, knowledge, helpfulness (the nurse even personally drove me to a hotel the first time), economical cost, and especially results. Dr. Garbutt is a pro (he got is his MD at Harvard if I remember correctly) and the rest of the staff is super helpful. I contacted My Hair Transplant in August, spoke to Laura about my issue. I wanted to get an eyebrow hair transplant, and Laura was an amazing help on answering all of my questions. It's been a week since my procedure and I'm loving the results. I had some bruises and about two days of swelling but that went away faster then I thought.
