I wanted to like this place, I really did, but after two visits I'm done. My first visit was back in January so I was unfamiliar with the ordering process. When I approached the counter no one acknowledged me so I said hi and an employee said hello back but didn't offer to take my order, so I assumed I needed to order at the tablet which is located before the seating and counter area. While placing my order, multiple people walked past me and ordered at the counter, so that was a little confusing. Those people were eating inside, though, so I thought maybe you need to use the tablet for take-out and order at the counter for eating in. To be honest, I'm still not sure. I assume if a person approaches the counter the employee should do more than just say hello and keep working, especially when I had to say it first, so that was a bit off-putting. I had perused their menu before my trip and wanted to try the breakfast pizza but when I saw it in person it looked old and dry so I decided to try the rice crispy treat instead. Well, it was so hard I had to microwave it when I got home just to be able to eat it. While it didn't taste stale, I don't think you should serve a rock hard rice crispy to someone and ask $4.50 to boot. All that said, the iced latte I ordered was exceptionally good, so I kept that in mind for the future. A few days ago I went back and ordered the same exact latte (via their app this time), just in a larger size. It tasted nothing like the one in January. Not only that, but after taking a sip and inquiring about getting some packets of sugar, I was told there were some around the corner from the counter. All I saw was fake sugar in packets and Sugar In The Raw in an open container with a spoon. Maybe I missed where the regular sugar was, I don't know. The whole area felt really disorganized and dirty which was a turn-off. For what they charge I expect fresher food and a consistent drink experience. I want to support small businesses but this place makes that hard. I won't be back. read more

This is such a cute coffee house especially during the summer because there is outdoor seating and spaces upstairs you can rent out for work meetings. The vibe is welcoming and I love all of the products they have supporting missions around the world. Such a cute spot!!! It was interesting to see a shared work space in their upstairs seating area, which is the first time I've seen this. On to the food, I had the egg salad toast with the addition of the avocado & it was simply delicious! I paired it with the smoothie and both were perfect especially on the hot day! My half of the sky rocks! Women, locally owned PLUS they also give back to women survivors of abuse, human trafficking and drug addition?! LOVE IT! This is the perfect place to grab coffee then stroll the streets of downtown Wheaton. The spot itself is an old house turned into a cafe. Indoor seating is limited (20ish) to the public and they also have paid business/conference rooms. I tried the churro latte and enjoyed it. It had the perfect amount of cinnamon and honey, not overly sweet yet sweet enough. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich and will pass on food next time. I appreciate they have food options though. The middle of my sandwich was still pretty frozen but everything else was warmed up just fine. read more

My Half of the Sky is a local Wheaton coffee shop with a purpose! Part of their profits goes towards supporting survivors of human trafficking, homelessness, addictions or extreme poverty. They thrive to serve the community by offerings coffee, baked goods, small business goods, and an environment to work and connect. Their business continues to offer more to the community to support their missions. I visited on a Saturday morning right before it got busy. They have both iPad kiosk's and their standard ordering counter to service visitors. Note that ordering online ahead of time offers 10% off orders. I got the 12oz hot lavender vanilla latte and my fiancé got the 16oz huckleberry chai tea latte. I enjoyed my coffee latte's flavor but the chai tea ended up being a bit sweet for my liking. Also, the huckleberry chai does not come in a 12oz option for some reason. The coffee shop itself is rather small to meet demands. It tends to feel claustrophobic when they have a big crowd. Next time, I would certain order ahead to pick up easy! read more

My Half of The Sky is a cute little coffee shop located downtown Wheaton. Every time I visit this place seems to be crowded, but I don't mind because the vibe is pretty cool. I had higher expectations from their lemonades, I thought they were freshly made using real fruit but instead I received what seems to be a lemonade mix out of the packet. A bit disappointing. I haven't tried their food yet, maybe next time I visit I will try it. Just an FYI, the shop is extremely difficult to maneuver if you are bringing a stroller. It is close to impossible to carry the stroller onto the second floor. However, I do really enjoy the vibe of this place so I will be back many times, especially during hot summer days! read more

I love this place, the coffee and food is great... But why is it so hard to be nice over the phone for the workers... Not saying it's all of them, but everytime I place a mobile order and call them to let them know i'm here, they're SO MEAN, it's so sad honestly. I called today to let them know i was here for mobile order since I can't always go inside the get my drink with a baby, and the girl who answered hung up on me right after i said "hi i was just calling to let you know im here for the mobile order" Not a single word was said by her, not an "ok" or anything, she just hung up. I waited about 8 more minutes to see if maybe she'll bring it, then I just took my baby and went inside myself. I'm not one to write bad reviews, but this experience really just had me shocked. They have a variety of retail items, including jewelry, coffee cups and candles. Also appreciate that they have a parking lot. Service was great but I wish I could say the food and coffee were too. The banana bread donut was ice cold and a bit dry but had great flavor. The latte was on the lighter side- more for people who don't like strong coffee. My Half Of The Sky is one of the few hipster kind of places in Wheaton. Has quite a few dairy free choices. They support a few important causes like stopping human trafficking. Gets cramped in here especially in morning. It has a few small tables in front but it's hard finding a seat. There's a few counters near the bathroom along the wall. Came in the last time for a Vanilla Latte. It's about $6 including dairy free milk. The prices aren't the best but the quality is there. As for food they have some vegetarian friendly choices. They have a few pastries. I got the Avocado Toast because I was only kind of hungry. It's about $5.60 and comes with avocado that has a nice light spice. This comes on a hearty piece of toast. Good flavor. The avocado spread was simple but excellent with the fresh avocado on warm toasted bread better than it looks. Human trafficking is an important cause they raise awareness of and they donate profits to help people caught in it. It certainly is a noble cause to get involved with and raise awareness of. This is one that's thankfully not divisive that many people can support. read more

We ordered a java frappe and an iced matcha latte. It seemed like the drinks were on the pricier side; about $7 for the former and just over $6 for the latter, both in the smaller sizes. Service was friendly enough. The java frappe had a nice thick coating of whipped cream on top. My wife felt like it wasn't sweet enough, but I didn't taste it. I really liked the iced matcha. I am a big fan. I love what they stand for and who they support and how they do it. All in a coffeehouse. I didn't love the very, very extended wait on a Saturday morning. Or the tiny mini donut that was hugely overpriced but tasted delicious. I did love the coffee. The flavor was like KABOOM!! I really enjoyed every taste that passed my lips that morning. Thankfully I had amazing company while we waited, but had this been an attempt at a quick stop or if I had been on any sort of time constraint, this would not have worked for me.
