It's such a cute little coffee shop in West Chicago, perfect for getting work done, catching up with friends, or playing one of their board games. I ordered a pancake breakfast latte, and it definitely resembles pancakes! It was delicious. The quality and attention to detail at Kindred is clear, and you can tell they truly care about what they do and have a genuine passion for coffee. We stopped by Kindred on our way home and made a quick detour to try their coffee. Ever since starting my specialty coffee and espresso journey, I've been seeking out local roasters to see what they can deliver--and Kindred certainly didn't disappoint. Everything from their roasts and drinks to the decor was fantastic. My wife had an iced vanilla latte, and I ordered a flat white. The flat white was beautifully balanced with smooth chocolate and light nutty notes, without being overly dark or roasted. I also picked up a 10 oz bag of their Brazil Yellow Bourbon Natural to brew at home. The staff was incredibly welcoming and even brought our drinks right to our table. Highly recommend! read more

Ordered a hot Aztec? Mocha online. My order was ready right when I got there. Very clean inside and helpful staff. The mocha is definitely spicy but has wonderful flavor. The cinnamon notes really shine, the shot had great flavor, and the milk was steamed perfectly to just the right temperature. There are a few parking spaces right out front. Make sure that you leave heading away from the shop, or you might get caught by a train. read more

A friend and I stopped in on a weekday morning and throughout our time there the place was consistently busy. I was impressed to see the staff members keeping up with the hustle and bustle. I'd consider the space small/moderate-ish. There are 2 different areas to sit at and my guess is at max capacity it's ~40 people. Their coffee menu is pretty standard when compared to other coffee shops. 1 item that stood out to me was the mocha latte. They label it as 'the most amazing mocha latte' which naturally made me want to try it. This is not my usual coffee order, I typically get a chai or a matcha so kudos for reeling me in with the fun verbiage lol. They don't offer almond milk but thankfully they do have oat so I got that instead. They aren't kidding about it being the most amazing mocha latte.. it was REAL good. It was rich, creamy and oh so delicious. I also loved the latte art. For food I got a blueberry muffin and enjoyed it. I liked that it had different textures throughout, the crumble and the smoothness of the muffin itself. It is also generous with the amount of blueberries in it. If you're looking for a breakfast sandwich or really any hot breakfast items.. sadly you won't get it here, but the muffins make up for it! read more

Kindred Coffee Roasters is a quaint little coffee shop in downtown West Chicago. They offer coffee and tea beverages as well as some muffins, cookies, and lunch sandwiches. They have some seating in the front and back of the shop with the ordering counter in the middle. I ordered the Lavender Latte and Blueberry Muffin per the staff's recommendation. Both were absolutely delicious! I loved the milk art and crunchy/sweet top of the muffin. Pricing was very fair. My only complaint was that their menu was bit more limited to other shops in the area. While my coffee was good, I wouldn't have new flavors to try to draw me back to visiting. read more

This place is goated. Super approachable vibe with great coffee, friendly staff, and an impeccable grilled cheese sandwich. From my understanding, their sourdough is made in-house, as are most of the sandwich ingredients and all of the syrups. Super refreshing to see in a world so dominated by overpriced Sysco slop. My food recommendations are the BLT with havarti cheese and pickled red onions or the grilled cheese with bacon. Drinks wise I recommend the Choco Chimp if it's in season or their mocha during colder weather. read more

Came here again to study as they have a good spot for coffee and seating. Was not disappointed, the coffee was great and there were many unique seasonal flavors! While in West Chicago, we de died on trying Kindeed Coffee. At first, it's a simple but cute coffee. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I got the lemon and lavender scone. We each got a coffee. Mine was iced and my wife had a hot coffee. I LOVE lemon flavored food (and not just the fake sweetened lemon like Starbucks lemon bread... natural lemon). My wife and I bit into the scone, which was hard on the outside and soft internally, but tasted awful. The lavender completely overpowered the scone. It tasted like we just ate a pure bitter dandelion. The coffeee, just didn't taste good. Neither of us finished the coffee or scone. We threw them out. Unfortunately, as nice and pleasant the staff was and cute the shop was... I can't recommend Kindred because we simply didn't like anything we ordered :( read more

I noticed they have lots of space that could be used for studying or "working from home" but not at "home". Much nicer than any St*rbucks/Dunkin any day. Coffee in West Chicago doesn't get any better. It has a cool ambiance along with the great aromas and flavors. Kindred is about as local as you can get. For sure better than any chain. The prices seem like they would be sky high but they aren't that bad for how good everything is. A lot to choose from. It's a small place but it has a pretty big menu. The coffee is of course the main thing. A lot of non dairy milk choices. They have everything from almond to oat. I like the Matcha Latte. It's $4.50 for a medium. This has that rich flavor it's known for, and is refreshing. Also try some food. Last time I had the Hummus And Vegetable Toast. It's $7 for a couple big pieces. They don't skimp on these. Good use of hummus rather than avocado. This gives it a different flavor but it's still a great option at breakfast and lunch. Has a surprising amount of indoor seating for a small business. Fun coffee shop in West Chicago. It looks small from the outside, but is actually very big inside. They have children's books you can sift through, and great tables for getting work done. They also have a nice outdoor area. The barista was friendly and helpful while taking our order. Unfortunately all of the breakfast pastries were sold out, but they did have a few gluten free dessert items left. However this was to be expected as it was a Saturday afternoon. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a smile, and it made for a very welcoming ambiance. I had the seasonal Sage & Cinder latte with oat milk, and the friendly barista accompanied my half sweet, extra foam requests. It was simply delicious. There is ample seating with smaller tables up front, comfortable arm chairs, and larger tables near the back. Ordered espresso, latte, avo toast and blt. Drinks just okay. Short double shot with only moderate crema but taste was decent. Latte way too high on the milk ratio. Ugly Mermaid style I guess. Toast good if too much garlic. Bread very good. BLT was a train wreck. Skimpy bacon, barely there tomato and skimpy lettuce. Worst of all, no mayo but butter???? Don't screw around with classics. Table service okay but nobody asked if we needed anything else or how it was and we were give tiny square drink napkins with sandwiches. Wow. Initially intended to buy beans, but not after that. I love Kindred and have been a regular here since they opened! I love their menu and their drinks are super consistent, as well as just all around lovely/ friendly owners and staff. They quite literally have one of the best blueberry muffins I've ever had! I was prompted to review though based on a recent racist review left by another customer who commented on how it's "The one spot you will find white people in downtown West Chicago". What an excellent family owned and operated coffee shop. Really nice people, the best coffee around, any you just shouldn't miss the muffins. They have have this slightly crunchy muffin top, and warm soft muffin stumps. They bake then in-house with the best recipes and ingredients. Really nice coffee shop with great atmosphere, they even provide diapers and feminine care products in their bathrooms. Coffee is quite good as well of course. I'm a little disappointed with their food and pastry selection however, most of the time all they offer are blueberry muffins. That's it, blueberry muffins. I've honestly never been to a coffee shop where you can select from only one thing. You like sweet scones? Nope. Croissants? Not here. Bagels? No sir. Banana bread? I'm afraid not. Their opening hours are a little to tight for me too. I'm often in the area around 6:15 and 4pm when they are closed - I end up going to Dunkin Donuts instead :-/.
