Great shop. An eclectic mix of items but it'd you're looking for a gift, this is a place you will want to stop. The high priestess and Hermit candle are my favorites. High priestess smells a bit like apple cider to me--just the tiniest bit; like a hint as you're trying to figure out what the scent reminds you of before it fades. The other candle smells woodsy and rich, but not overpoweringly so--very very subtle, but enough to conjure images of the deep woods. They have a few plants too, and their plants are beautiful. I think they may sell some on Instagram; when I stopped in there were several plants with names on them on the one wall, seemingly for pickup. They have some great pots--I do NOT need new pots, but I bought a constellation pot and almost bought another but was able to control myself. I also considered a plant or two, but I need to control myself with plants for a while too. Staff were friendly, not overbearing. Their hours on Sunday are short--10-2. They're right in downtown Glen Ellyn, but not along Main; they're around the corner, and there are a few parking spots in their lot or on the surrounding streets. Good Roots has gotten some good press lately (see the story on their Instagram page), and they also received recognition from the village of Glen Ellyn. Much deserved; this is a great shop, whether you're out for a stroll in downtown Glen Ellyn or are on a mission for a great gift.

I found Good Roots while on the search for a place that specialized in indoor plants, instead of your typical outdoor nursery/garden center, and WOW this place did not disappoint. If i could live there, I would. They were super nice and gave me a discount on one of the plants I got because it was looking a little droopy, but it was just in need of watering, and perked right back up once I got it home! An absolute hidden gem.

This Women owned shop is truly what my dreams are made of. It's a magical place that's busting at the seams with inspiration, beautiful home decor, planty plants, pots, and great gifts sprinkled all throughout. Highly recommend and give 'em a follow on Instagram.

It's a fancy store and they do have plants; however the prices are through the roof. Some of the pricing make zero sense.

I wanted to like this place, I really did, but after two visits I'm done…read more My first visit was back in January so I was unfamiliar with the ordering process. When I approached the counter no one acknowledged me so I said hi and an employee said hello back but didn't offer to take my order, so I assumed I needed to order at the tablet which is located before the seating and counter area. While placing my order, multiple people walked past me and ordered at the counter, so that was a little confusing. Those people were eating inside, though, so I thought maybe you need to use the tablet for take-out and order at the counter for eating in. To be honest, I'm still not sure. I assume if a person approaches the counter the employee should do more than just say hello and keep working, especially when I had to say it first, so that was a bit off-putting. I had perused their menu before my trip and wanted to try the breakfast pizza but when I saw it in person it looked old and dry so I decided to try the rice crispy treat instead. Well, it was so hard I had to microwave it when I got home just to be able to eat it. While it didn't taste stale, I don't think you should serve a rock hard rice crispy to someone and ask $4.50 to boot. All that said, the iced latte I ordered was exceptionally good, so I kept that in mind for the future. A few days ago I went back and ordered the same exact latte (via their app this time), just in a larger size. It tasted nothing like the one in January. Not only that, but after taking a sip and inquiring about getting some packets of sugar, I was told there were some around the corner from the counter. All I saw was fake sugar in packets and Sugar In The Raw in an open container with a spoon. Maybe I missed where the regular sugar was, I don't know. The whole area felt really disorganized and dirty which was a turn-off. For what they charge I expect fresher food and a consistent drink experience. I want to support small businesses but this place makes that hard. I won't be back.

The coffee and snacks are delicious here, I would definitely recommend stopping in the next time you're in town.

I have since probably purchased over 20 Jellycats from here, it's my favorite way to do so because I love supporting a local business and this shop is genuinely just the best. Outside of Jellycats, I've gotten Hello Kitty Blue Sky Ceramics, an Allen designs clock, Christmas ornaments, a lazy Susan, and baby gifts. Although I don't live in the area, anytime I'm out towards Oak Brook I ALWAYS make sure to stop by Fairytales to see what's new. Unfortunately due to the immense popularity of Jellycats, their stock has declined significantly which is a bit of a bummer, but it seems to be out of their control from my understanding. Everyone I've interacted with here has been incredibly sweet, I've done waitlist orders (I was able to get the large snow dragon jellycat this was as well as some of the rare Christmas ornaments!), and I've done a few online pickup orders as well. Each time my items are packaged beautifully and I feel so special walking out with the super high quality, beautifully branded Fairytales bag. Downtown Lombard truly has a gem, if it was closer to me I'd frequent a lot more, but it just makes my trips even more special when I do get to stop by.
