"vegetables dupagecounty" The first hit was Hacker's Glenbard Gardens. My Wife and I hit the Jackpot!!!!!!!! We had been getting our plants from places like Menards and Home Depot.....Not anymore! LOL My Wife and I are now going to get our vegetables and flowers from Hacker's for as long as we can. I bet Hacker's has more varieties than anywhere in the midwest. 72 Different varieties of Just Tomatoes alone !! Absolutely Incredible variety of flowers, vegetables, and practically everything you can think of plus specials! We also buy plants for our neighbors gardens. Way better prices than the big stores. And way more selection for sure. The staff is so courteous, friendly, helpful, and greatly knowledgeable. I have been there 6 times so far in 2026 :-) A real pleasurable place to visit Indeed! I purchased a 30-inch ceramic planter and was originally told it would be left on my driveway. However, upon arrival, the delivery man, Jeff, went above and beyond. He rang the doorbell to notify me of his arrival. To my surprise Jeff kindly offered to move the heavy planter closer to its final destination. In addition to all this unexpected act of kindness, Jeff positioned it so effectively that moving this heavy planter into its final spot was effortless. Thanks to his extra effort, the planter is now exactly where I need it. When I offered Jeff a tip to show my gratitude for his care and helpfulness, he graciously declined, saying he was just happy to help. It is rare to encounter such genuine professionalism. You are fortunate to have someone like Jeff representing your company.

It's large, and well organized and the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. The prices may be a bit high, but the selection and quality seem to also be very high. We definitely found everything we were looking for and more that we didn't know we were looking for. We were happy with everything we bought and did find some real deals. When I went back to the store for help, they were completely unhelpful and unwilling to offer a refund or even store credit. Instead, they tried to sell me a $10 bottle of soap that they admitted may or may not work. Beyond that, there was no real guidance, advice, or effort to help resolve the issue. For a specialty nursery with premium pricing, I expected far more expertise and customer care. I strongly believe in supporting small businesses over big box stores, but this place was a complete disappointment. Between the high prices and lack of support, the value just isn't there. I will be finding a new nursery in the spring and highly recommend others look elsewhere as well. If you're looking for quality plants, knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices, and customer care, Wannamaker's is not it.
