I've been wanting a top lock for a few months now since I moved in my new apt. Called and requested a quote. They said they'd come within an hour. The tech came and I gave him a lot of props for doing so (we are in the middle of a pandemic, NBD). I explained I already had a lock and the part that makes the hole in the door (since the door had no cutout of any kind). I was just missing the right type of drilling (my drill is small and wouldn't have the torque power to drill through a steel-framed door.) I should have just ASKED that he use his from the get-to, but instead of doing so, he proceeded to open the piece, use it, and then tell me it's no good and that he would use his. He also told me the lock I had was not great, and I ended up getting a "master lock" from him. Whatever. At least now I can return the unopened $10 lock to the hardware store. the other piece ($30) cannot be returned NOW. I wish the communication would have been a lot better and he would have advised me to just bring them BOTH back, unopened! My rationale was that since he is the "profesional" locksmith, he should have ALL THE TOOLS NEEDED. so now a $150 job is actually costing me $170. Unnecessary. This whole pandemic craze has fried my brain a bit and I was just SO HAPPY to have someone come and put this damn lock in place. I guess that peace of mind is far more important than THRITY DOLLARS. but as an overall principle and business practice, just beware of stuff like this where you end up paying more because you don't look out for yourself first and use your brain. **update: after reading the review, I got a call back from the business owner/tech (I don't know if he is the same person?) + an a drop-off of $30 cash to cover the cost of the drill bit. Turned out to be Kenaurd. Charged 179 per lock to change the cylinders. Charges 65 for the visit and 18 dollars for every key over 2. Online high security kenaurd comes with 5 keys.
