A few weeks back we came here for my son's first dentist visit and Dr. Delgado was absolutely terrific with him. I was really impressed with their practice, it seemed clean, organized, my son got a balloon, sticker, and despite "politely" declining the X-ray he overall enjoyed the visit and honestly asked to come back every week or so since. They left a great impression! The dental technician was Gladys and she was also really good with our son. I take all of my children here. Front setting up appointments all the way through to the end they are excellent. They are able to set up appointments for me to bring 3 children at one time which is very convenient. They are friendly , efficient and professional. The kids actually enjoy coming to the dentist which is not what i have experienced in the past. Dr Delgado is amazing. She is very knowledgeable, courteous and great with the kids. read more

Beware of the overpricing of silver diamine flouride. Loved My Kid's Dentist and Clear Lake Modern Dentistry until Dr. Kwak suggested treating my child with this product without providing an upfront estimate or telling me how much they charge for it, or that they don't use the codes that might get insurance to cover it. According to my research, a box of 30 ampules costs a provider approximately $120, so that's 4 dollar per ampule. A drop of silver diamide treats multiple teeth and takes a minute to apply. So he used one ampule and took less than 5 minutes to apply it. For that, he initially charged me $360. I complained immediately and he said he'd discount half, so $180 for a $4 ampule and 5 minutes of labor!! I left without paying my bill or getting any paperwork the day of the visit because I wasn't expecting such a huge bill, was upset and needed to talk to my husband and needed to get my daughter to another doctor appointment. Terrible follow up from the office staff, stopping by 2 times to find the office closed (didn't realize they didn't keep regular M-F office hours until this issue) and no response to certain emails left me without the documentation to understand the 30 and 60 day bills that just said "for professional services". I finally asked the office to fax me the detail since the gal said she did email it when I first requested (but I didn't get it). What I got was not understandable to me, did not show the discount Dr. Kwak had authorized, used the term "medicament" for the silver diamide flouride. I took yet another trip to the office to find it closed again to then find out from a lady walking by that I could get the information I was looking for from the office staff on the Clear Lake Dentistry side. I explained the issue, the gal provided me everything I needed to make sense of it all and I immediately paid my bill. A week later, I got a letter from a collection agency!! My old dentist in Oregon and my family had a decade plus relationship. I saw my childhood dentist for 26 years. I trusted Dr. Kwak and his staff knew I was still trying to understand the bill and whether insurance covered the procedures correctly. And when I paid my bill last week, the gal that took it didn't say anything about the account being sent to collections, which according to the collection agency was done on 5/24. The collection letter is dated 5/25 but didn't arrive in our mailbox until 6/5. All signs to me that things have significantly changed around there. Our previous dentist offices would have never tried to take advantage of us with exorbitant pricing or turned us over to collections but then their office staff would also have been sure to follow up to make sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable with the bill and insurance coverage. I've lost all trust in both practices so they've lost all our business. $180 for a $4 ampule and 5 mins of labor - sheesh! Update: To his credit, Dr. Kwak called after seeing this review to try to get our relationship back on track. He said there are some inaccuracies in my understanding of what all is built into the charge for the silver diamine flouride. He also said he's not responsible for the money side so be sure you understand who is and please just be sure if he suggests this treatment that you understand how the office comes up with the price of $180 per application. He said he applied it to 3 of my child's teeth, so it could have been a $540 charge but he did one tooth for free and cut the charge for the other 2 in half. From my prior research, some dentists charge less than that and some dentist's have been able to get it covered by insurance with certain codes. He said billing is automated and likely why it slipped through to collections. Anyone with experience in office management or accounting knows there is a layer of accountability built into that process so automation is a lame excuse for sending someone you say you care about over to collections. While I do like Dr. Kwak on a personal level, his explanations didn't seem thorough and didn't do much for me but cement to me that the damage is done. He was able.to connect with my 6 year old daughter and made her feel comfortable during our first visit...he even made her a balloon animal which was a big hit. As a parent he explained everything very clearly and with kindness and compassion. I cannot say enough good things about him and My Kids Dentist in Clear Lake! The staff also went above and beyond. Lisa was super friendly and made sure to make us feel comfortable as we waited for my daughter's procedure to be finished. We brought our 3 year old for her first dental appointment because of a toothache. It turned out that she needed quite a bit of dental work. The whole staff is amazing with children and concerned parents. Dr. Kwak is gentle and explains the procedures very well. The place and full staff are extremely kid and family friendly. Everything is tailored to the needs of a child- from cartoons playing on tvs mounted to the ceiling in exam rooms, to caring support staff who kept my kiddo calm and even laughing during an otherwise stressful situation. We were referred to Dr. Kwak by a friend who just raved about how fantastic he and the staff are at My Kid's Dentist. My 12-year-old son has had several oral issues solved by numerous surgeries and phase 1 of braces. He dreads going to the dentist. The personalized care Dr. Kwak and his hygienist, Anna, provided for my son was off the charts amazing! My son was calm and cooperative during the entire appointment, a welcomed change to our normal dental appointment. My 6-year-old was seen by Dr. Kwak and his hygienist, Dawn. They both kid-ified everything for him, so it wasn't scary, and he understood every step of his cleaning. When our appointment was over, and we were scheduling our future appointments for treatment and check-ups, Lisa at the front desk was all smiles and very helpful. Having moved to the area a couple years ago my son hadn't seen a dentist for a regular check up for a hot minute. I done extensive research and reached out to my insurance company who recommended Dr. Kwak. My son has ADHD and serious dental anxiety so I went into the appointment on guard. Seriously though, it was wonderful! My son was apprehensive and they could tell and they were patient and did wonderfully with him. They weren't pushy or judgmental and I loved and appreciated that. My son did his xrays and cleaning and was scheduled for his procedures 2 weeks later. I feel like not rushing everything in one visit will help my son overcome the anxiety in time. Dr. Kwak has been incredible with both of my children. He handled my older child, who had lots of anxiety about a dental procedure, with such understanding and patience. He answered my questions without making me feel like I was silly or wasting his time. I took all three of my children here at one time, with it being the first-ever visit to the dentist for two of them. The staff was very friendly and skilled. The pediatric dentist took the time to read a picture book with my toddler, using one tool at a time as the book introduced it. None of my kids cried or were fearful.
