At first I thought I needed a good concrete/masonry contractor to pour concrete rebar over a 500 sq ft area of gravel in my backyard that the previous owners of my house left in very nasty condition. I'm talking 500 sq ft of dirt and gravel mixed with constant weeds sprouting up, ripped up tarp, old rusted nails, broken glass, and more. Boy, am I glad I gave My Outdoor Builder a shot. Instead of plain concrete, I was able to get this entire area covered with beautiful stone pavers within my budget thanks to Adir and his highly capable and professional crew. Adir was the last of 3 landscaping contractors I met with and without providing any competitors' comparable estimates, he gave me a ridiculously generous offer that landed in the ball park of my other two options that only offered concrete. For those that don't know, this deal is unheard of. Anyone who has landscaped their property knows that pavers are always going to cost thousands of dollars more than concrete. The only catch was that I needed to accept the offer that day and schedule the work to start the next day. This was an easy, no-brainer deal to accept. Adir and his crew showed up on time as agreed and finished the job earlier than scheduled. While other contractors tried to upsell me on installing drains to divert water away from the foundation openings, Adir kept it simple and his crew meticulously sloped the pavers properly so that all water flows out to the driveway. I hired My Outdoor Builder to remodel my backyard - it involved demo'ing existing concrete, retaining walls, and a fence and installing concrete pavers and pool coping. Adir and his crew did a great job on the project. A year later, I noticed an issue where some of my pavers began to separate a bit along the sand joint. Adir took my call, came out to see the issue, and sent in his crew to install new sand. This didn't fix the issue unfortunately, but Adir came back again with his crew and completely removed and reinstalled a large section of pavers that were having the issue and it now looks great. I think its worth highlighting that Adir stands by his work product and his word. While most other contractors would have just ignored their customer, Adir not only took my calls, he came out multiple times with his crew, and covered the costs which I'm sure were costly (without ever asking me to cover a penny of it). We hired "My Outdoor Builder" in 2022 to install interlocking driveway pavers at our property. - Even though the end product turned out nice, the journey getting it done was very stressful. The Company's Project Manager Adir came recommended by our Pastor, who had hired this company for his driveway and backyard job. And as far as we know, he is still having some issues with the paver installation. - But that's for him to talk about. Here's what happened to us: Issue #1: Adir provided us with a written estimate for the 1,500 SF project job, which is about the same square footage other companies had calculated. On the day of the paver delivery, Adir told us that he was 200 SF short of pavers and we would have to PAY EXTRA for the additional amount. - Long story short on this one: We reminded Adir that his estimate was based on 1,500 SF and not 1,300 SF, which means any miscalculations on his part are on him. He agreed that he made the mistake and corrected it. Issue #2: Adir rushed us into signing the contract since his foreman was already on the way to start with the demo of the old driveway and he (Adir) needed to get our signatures in order move forward with the paver order. We now know that he completely violated the "three day" cooling off period in the State of California, which gives the homeowner the right to change his or her mind and cancel the contract. This means that the contractor cannot start work sooner than 3 days after the contract is signed. Issue #3: The estimate also included installation of "dusk 'till dawn" stair lights. Adir got the lights and his installer installed them. Sadly though, those lights didn't work even though his foreman Santos said that the installation team tested them. We waited a little bit to see if the lights would come on when the sun sets. In fact, the lights were supposed to come on at "dusk", basically when the sun sets and turn off at "dawn" when the sun rises. But they didn't turn on at all. Naturally, we kept calling Adir, who then called his number one installer Santos. In the end we were told that the lights were fine and that they were "plugged" in. All we needed to do is "go and push the button", then count from one to nine every time when we want the lights to turn on and then go back outside in the morning to turn them off. We knew that this was absolutely insane as we knew that dusk 'till dawn lights work with a PHOTO SENSOR! - Apparently, the "Team" had no knowledge of this as the photo sensor that came with the stair lights was still in the original box, never being unpacked or unrolled. In short, on this one: Adir had his ELECTRICIAN come out and install the photo sensor and after one week of a strenuous back and forth with Adir, his installer and the office we finally got the lights to work. Issue #4: We asked My Outdoor Builders to install PVC piping for sprinkler hookup for future landscaping, and they did. Sadly though, they did not mark the areas where the end of the pipes were located. Only 1 of 4 locations had a "stub-up", but the remaining other three did not have any marking at all. This is where the proverbial last straw was reached! We were finally moving forward with landscaping, but were not able to locate the pipes. So, we contacted Adir on 03/13/2023 in order to find out if he could either meet with us to show us where the pipes were buried, or if he had any photos of the job site that show the location of the pipes. We asked for photos as he constantly took pictures of the job site, and we thought he might have one or two photos of the PVC pipes, too. On 03/14/2023 Adir texted back stating that he would check with his "office" on 03/15/2023. On 03/16/2023 we reached back out to him to follow up. He responded that he was feeling sick, but would follow up with us the next day (03/17/203). On 04/28/2023 we reached back out to Adir since we didn't hear back from him AT ALL since 03/16/2023! Adir responded that he would "call" us on Monday, 05/01/2023 so that we could schedule a day and time to meet in person at the property. We eventually connected and agreed to meet on Friday, May 5, 2023. Adir did come to the property and was surprised that he could not locate the PVC pipes either. However, he offered to have us meet with his installer Santos and that Santos would be able to find those pipes. We agreed to meet with Santos after the weekend. However, later that afternoon Santos came solo to the property and tried searching for the pipes. Also, since he only had access to the front, he would not have been able to locate anything in the rear of the property. He did not find the pipes. Because of the unreliability and the unprofessional manner in which My Outdoor Builder conducts its business, this company receives a Negative Four (-4) from us! Again, the end product itself is nice, but the road of getting there was way more bumpy than our old cracked concrete driveway. read more
