Dr. Rafael Cartelli, I am finally posting this and I am writing to express my deep disappointment in the care and treatment my pet and I received at your establishment, particularly from Dr. Cartelli and certain members of your staff. This past July, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put my dog to sleep. When I brought him in to be evaluated on 6/23/2025, I was still undecided and hoping for some professional and compassionate guidance. Unfortunately, Dr. Cartelli did not even examine my dog--he didn't touch him or observe him walking, despite my offer. He only asked a few basic questions and did not go through the full Quality of Life checklist with me, even though he knew I was struggling with the decision. I had to ask for blood work myself, and the entire appointment lasted under 15 minutes. I was still charged $86, which I paid and would gladly have paid for a more thorough consultation. Cost was never a concern for my family, and I would have paid for a full Quality of Life evaluation if it had been offered and if I had known this examination was provided. Thank goodness for another animal hospital and the at-home vet who provided the support and tools I needed--such as the Quality-of-Life checklist--to help me make the right decision. The at home vet showed empathy, compassion and even hugged me afterward, and helped make my dog's final moments peaceful. I am thankful Luke transitioned peacefully at home with family. It is incredibly hurtful to be treated as though my dog--and my grief--didn't matter. I know Luke was not friendly like our other dog was, as Luke was a very nervous dog, however, this is unacceptable! Please treat all of the pets and owners that walk through that door with equal care and respect! I also wanted to say Thank you to whomever sent the card to us after Lukes passing, as I truly thought we would receive nothing, due to how we were treated in the past to be honest. Additionally, I've had negative experiences with some of your staff, particularly Jennifer. She was dismissive and seemed to be annoyed after I asked if she used the shampoo I sent with my dog for a bath, some yrs ago. Jennifer's attitude and behavior toward both me and my pet changed after that interaction and so did mine. My dog behaved differently after that visit, and though I'll never know what happened, it left me deeply unsettled. Years ago, when we first started coming to your clinic--long before Dr. Cartelli and Dr. Blum--it felt like a welcoming, caring place. Sadly, that changed. My family and I will not be returning, and I cannot and will not recommend your clinic to others, as we have done in the past. It's clear that some clients are treated with warmth and respect, while others are ignored or dismissed. This kind of unequal treatment is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. If your practice is to survive, I urge you to reevaluate how you treat all clients and their pets--with consistency, compassion, and professionalism, as on behalf of myself and family we never were disrespectful to any of you. We have been following Dr Cartelli since 2015 when he was at another Vet Clinic. He diagnosed a bladder stone condition with our chihuahua "Bear"that had been misdiagnosed by multiple veterinarians prior. We had to move out of state in 2019 Late in 2020, Bear started having some breathing issues. X-rays were done. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. We were also told that the mass in his chest that was discovered in the X-ray was cancer. He was put on massive medications that had him so messed up that he refused anything but water. I called Dr. Cartelli, explained the diagnosis, and sent him email copies of the x-rays. He called me and advised that the mass was not cancer. It was the fluid around his heart from the congestive heart failure. He had me change his medication and our little guy was back to normal within a couple of days. He never asked for a penny though I did offer to pay. We then had an opportunity a few months later to move back to Florida. Part of what impacted our decision to make the move was having Bear close to Dr. Cartelli. In early April of 2023, our little guy succumbed to his illness. I don't believe he would have had the quality of life for the last 3 years if it hadn't been for the care that he received from Dr. Cartelli and his team. Due to work, we now live outside of Nashville. We still travel to Florida for routine visits for our toy aussie. If she ever needs anything, My Pet's Vet will be where our trust lies. I was referred to My Pets Vet by another Vet who was unwilling or unable to help with my puppy. I got a new puppy who had a broken leg so we've been from one vet after another to make sure that we had proper care. I've dealt with rude vets, smelly offices, pure chaos and so much more. From the moment that we walked in, a couple of things stood out - this place is very clean and smells good and we were greeted by very friendly and caring staff. That's the best way I could describe every single person in that office. Over the past four days, we have been in the office almost daily and I have encountered at least 5 or 6 different staff members and although I didn't get each of their names, I'll never forget how we were treated. Not to mention, the Dr. is very informative and also very caring. We live almost an hour away and I'll gladly take that trip for the unique and personalized care that my fur babies are receiving. I brought my dog to this vet to be euthanized due to a myriad of issues. He was 17 YO and was in Kidney Failure. He could not see or hear, he was not eating very often, had problems standing and had recently developed dementia. I knew it was time to say goodbye to my baby for him. As you can imagine, it was extremely painful. I called and made an appt for the following day. Upon arrival, I was very upset at the thought, the assistant came in immediately with the form to sign for euthanasia. I stopped her and asked if Dr. Cartelli could weigh in to make sure I was doing the right thing, she said : sure, can I take him in the back for vitals"? I agreed, thinking my dog would be gone for a few minutes. In the meantime, Dr. Cartelli came in and agreed with my decision to euthanize. I expected they would bring my dog back so I could spend some time with him, instead they had him for 1 hour!!!!!!! No one came in the room to tell me what was going on, finally after 30 mins, I opened the back door and asked where is my dog. Another vet assistant said they were trying to start an IV, but they were having difficulty, well......NO KIDDING...My dog was scared and full of anxiety and with complete STRANGERS!!!!!. When they finally brought him in to the room, he was heavily sedated and really not there anymore. Dr. Cartelli came in, injected the euthanasia and he was gone in seconds. The entire staff ( 2 techs and Dr. Cartelli) left the room without any consoling words. They showed absolutely no compassion. I feel they robbed me of my last hour with my beloved pet, I could have comforted him and made it esasier for both of us to help him pass. I can't understand why they could not have started the IV in the room. It was cruel to allow my dog to suffer in his last hour. Dr. Cartelli is a very nice man and very knowledgeable ( hence the 2 stars), however, this could have been handled way better. The staff needs to understand it may be a job for them, but it is a family member to us. Word of advice: Treat every animal like it is your own. I will never get over this experience and wanted to make sure it doesnt happen to anyone else. read more

I had nothing but rave reviews of My Pets Vet in the past, but recently the quality of care has gone down. First, when I contacted this clinic by phone, a young woman answered and placed me on a "Brief" hold. :10 minutes later, I'm still on hold. I hung up, called again and the AFTER HOURS recording came on. It was :10 min. till 4:00pm. When I called the next day, another young lady picked up and scheduled me for an appt. w/Dr. Blum. I arrived early (around 11:00am. I patiently waited until 12:45 and no Doctor. When I asked if the Dr. was still here, I was told, "Oh...he's taking his time." Funny...but no one else was in the waiting room. I DID notice a shadow under the door as if someone was going to walk into the examining room, but they stayed for a second and walked off. You see, they have peep holes mounted so they can see from the back area. What I suspect, is that Dr. Bloom was frustrated with me, when I decide on what I believe is the best for my Dog. Instead of cramming paharmaceutical drugs down his throat, I have spent MANY HOURS researching for alternative supplemental ways. I was even complimented on my hours of research by the same Dr., WHO DIDN'T KNOW about a particular Anabolic Steroid used to treat dogs with a collapsed trachea (SEE: STANOZOLOL), as opposed to the more expensive stents (which are prone to fail) or a more invasive surgical insertion of "C" rings on the trachea. I guess he didn't want to discuss this with me, since I found it but he didn't! Anyway, I plan on going to a facility that will show a compassion for our pets and respect for the pet parents! read more

Why over priced and very poor service. They wanted to do surgery on my dog and would keep her overnight. I found out they have no attendant at night and no sprinkler system. My dog went in for his nails trimmed and flea medication, he died 10 days later. They took him from me to cut his nails after I said not to and the next day he could barely stand! I called and they wanted me to bring him back there, probably to kill him sooner! When I called to tell them he died they made me pay to have him cremated. Not only weren't they not there when she died like they should have been! They told me she was in critical condition! And instead of putting her to sleep and calling me to be there so she can die having me there they never called and they were not opened either! Not till 7am that morning! And they left at 7pm that night! She suffered all night long and died!! The next day I called and told me she had died. I called!!! Not them! They shaved her without my permission too!! I took my dog there for the first time because he was in really bad shape (throwing up, diarrhea, and was struggling to stand up). All the clinic assistants were very nice and pleasant with the exception of the vet himself. Complete asshole! My dog was scared and growling (he had a muzzle on because I knew he'd be scared) and this man had the nerve to call my baby a "horrible dog" multiple times and that he wasn't going near him unless sedated. I understand he was worried about being bitten, but the attitude, rude tone, and the disrespect towards me and my dog, was inexcusable. No wonder Tyson growled at him because HE'S the horrible one. I've been a customer for nearly 8 years. I only give credit to Dr. Ernest Blum; I just don't get the feeling Dr. Carlos Gonzalez-Tirado cares or is knowledgable enough to justify the fee. Wait times can be excessive even when appointments are made; and count on them trying to squeeze every penny. What caused me to write this truthful review is, a 'vet checkup' was required to get a flea pill(after everything else they suggested didn't work); I don't like needless visit vets, so I made agreement that when my dogs rabies shot was due, I wouldn't have to pay for the 'vet visit' just the shot. Well they reneged on that deal despite it being in the notes; this along with several 'vet visits' required for prescriptions seriously inflating the cost of basic care.. I think I'm going to work to find another vet(despite them being 3 minutes away from me). read more

Our dog was not eating and was drinking large amounts of water and had developed a large lump on her breast. We took her in where they performed a few tests and did say she had an infection. she was sent home with antibiotocs and to await for the CBC results the next day. We received a call the following day to bring her in. She was diagnosed with Pyometra and needed surgery. They operated that day, we were able to bring her home the following day with meds and they scheduled an appointment for suture removal approx. 2 weeks later. There was no drain tube or bandaging. The incision had opened and we took her back to have it taken care of. Nothing was done! She wasn't even given any further meds or bandaging. You could actually see inside the incision. She was again sent home and we were told to bring her back in 4 days. The following day happened to be on a Saturday and her wound started leaking heavily. I did call the vet but it was already closed. We called a ER vet and took her there.(One of the phone numbers that were given on their recording) She had an infection, in spite of all the antibiotics she had been given and had necrotic tissue that all had to be removed. After that operation she was bandaged and had a drainage tube inserted. When I called My Pets Vet to let them know what happened I spoke with the office manager Tammy who was very rude. She said that if I would have waited to bring her in as scheduled they would have done the operation at no charge. But there would be no refund for any of the ER services that were performed. There was no way we could have waited 4 days and take the chance of having her die. When I asked why our dog didn't have a drain or bandage when they first operated she said they don't ususally do that procedure. In spite of what she said about waiting the 4 days the vets at the ER said we did the right thing as she might not have survived the wait. We feel our beloved dog was totally neglected and we advise no one to take there animal there!!! s read more

We immediately took her to her Vet. They saved her life! She had torn muscles, tissue, and was bleeding internally.
