Dr. Rafael Cartelli,…read more I am finally posting this and I am writing to express my deep disappointment in the care and treatment my pet and I received at your establishment, particularly from Dr. Cartelli and certain members of your staff. This past July, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put my dog to sleep. When I brought him in to be evaluated on 6/23/2025, I was still undecided and hoping for some professional and compassionate guidance. Unfortunately, Dr. Cartelli did not even examine my dog--he didn't touch him or observe him walking, despite my offer. He only asked a few basic questions and did not go through the full Quality of Life checklist with me, even though he knew I was struggling with the decision. I had to ask for blood work myself, and the entire appointment lasted under 15 minutes. I was still charged $86, which I paid and would gladly have paid for a more thorough consultation. Cost was never a concern for my family, and I would have paid for a full Quality of Life evaluation if it had been offered and if I had known this examination was provided. Thank goodness for another animal hospital and the at-home vet who provided the support and tools I needed--such as the Quality-of-Life checklist--to help me make the right decision. The at home vet showed empathy, compassion and even hugged me afterward, and helped make my dog's final moments peaceful. I am thankful Luke transitioned peacefully at home with family. It is incredibly hurtful to be treated as though my dog--and my grief--didn't matter. I know Luke was not friendly like our other dog was, as Luke was a very nervous dog, however, this is unacceptable! Please treat all of the pets and owners that walk through that door with equal care and respect! I also wanted to say Thank you to whomever sent the card to us after Lukes passing, as I truly thought we would receive nothing, due to how we were treated in the past to be honest. Additionally, I've had negative experiences with some of your staff, particularly Jennifer. She was dismissive and seemed to be annoyed after I asked if she used the shampoo I sent with my dog for a bath, some yrs ago. Jennifer's attitude and behavior toward both me and my pet changed after that interaction and so did mine. My dog behaved differently after that visit, and though I'll never know what happened, it left me deeply unsettled. Years ago, when we first started coming to your clinic--long before Dr. Cartelli and Dr. Blum--it felt like a welcoming, caring place. Sadly, that changed. My family and I will not be returning, and I cannot and will not recommend your clinic to others, as we have done in the past. It's clear that some clients are treated with warmth and respect, while others are ignored or dismissed. This kind of unequal treatment is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. If your practice is to survive, I urge you to reevaluate how you treat all clients and their pets--with consistency, compassion, and professionalism, as on behalf of myself and family we never were disrespectful to any of you. I even let Joe know of the Google review I had written and promised I would take it down and I did, as I believe in 2nd chances. I also informed her about the tech Jennifer's attitude toward Luke and me. It is very unfortunate, as nothing changed! Please do better, if you want this establishment to thrive and stay open and once again, treat everyone and their pet that comes through your doors with equal Care and Respect! This pet clinic is definitely my top choice, and I want to start by saying that because, overall, I…read morehave had a very positive experience with the care they provide. However, one major issue has significantly affected my experience, and I feel it is important to share it. The fact that the entire clinic closes for a full hour during lunch is extremely concerning, especially when dealing with pets who may need urgent medication or supplies. Having everyone go to lunch at the same time, rather than alternating lunch shifts so that the clinic remains available as many other clinics do is, in my opinion, a major flaw. This is especially important for a veterinary clinic because our pets cannot always wait an entire hour for something they medically need. My pet, Leo, needed an AeroKat from the clinic so that I could properly administer his asthma medication. Unfortunately, because the clinic was completely closed during their lunch hour, I was unable to get what he needed from them, and I ultimately had to take him to the ER. This was an incredibly stressful and frightening situation, and it made me realize how serious the consequences of being completely unavailable for an entire hour can be. What made the experience even more upsetting was what happened when I called the clinic to express my concerns. I was crying and extremely distressed because I was going through one of the worst moments of my life with my baby, Leo. Instead of being met with compassion or even basic empathy, the front desk transferred me to the clinic director, Maria, without telling me that I was being transferred to her. When Maria answered, her first response was, "What's the question?" I was caught off guard and asked, "Excuse me? Who is this?" She repeated, "What's the question?" She knew I was crying and clearly struggling, yet I felt no compassion, concern, or understanding from her whatsoever. I understand that clinics get busy, and I understand that employees have stressful days. However, when someone is calling while crying and clearly distressed about their sick pet, the way that person is treated matters. A simple acknowledgment, some empathy, or even asking what happened would have made a tremendous difference. I am sharing this because I genuinely do consider this clinic my top choice, and I would like to continue feeling that way. I hope management will seriously reconsider the full hour closure for lunch and consider staggering lunch breaks so that someone is always available for urgent needs. I also hope the clinic will address how distressed pet parents are treated when they reach out for help. Our pets are our family. When something is wrong with them, we are often scared, emotional, and desperate for help. Compassion and accessibility should be just as important as medical care.

I didn't have a long wait and my sick bird was promptly taken care of. The vet clinic is clean and there are several people at the front desk to assist with clients and their pets. The process goes fast, considering they take walk in appointments. This is a large clinic and they have a lot of exam rooms and that's a good thing, since it makes getting in and out much faster. The staff is friendly and helpful and the vet was informative about my bird. The cost is average to above, but considering you don't have to call in and wait days for an appointment, this is a plus. You never know when your animals will get sick and this clinic is much less expensive than an emergency vet clinic. Ask me how I know. I was surprised at some of the reviews, since this clinic seems like a good place to take your pet. They accept pets with fur, feathers and scales, so that just about covers everything. Colonial Animal Hospital was a good find, I have an equine and dog vet and will add them to the mix for my bird.

The facility was dirty--I was expected to…read morewalk through dog vomit just to get my dog to the scale when i refused then they mopped it up but it smelled horrible. That alone was unacceptable. What concerned me even more was the care we received. The veterinarian never performed a physical examination of my dog--at any point during the visit. Instead, he immediately began discussing expensive diagnostic tests and raised alarming possibilities, such as my dog having swallowed a nail clipper. I felt pressured into approving x-rays after those worst-case scenarios were presented. After emphasizing those possibilities, he told me he "worked for me" and that the decision was mine. However, he immediately followed that by warning me that if my dog was anemic, she could die on the table. Then, when I expressed concern about not being able to afford these costs for the 2nd time he told me he understood my financial situation because he also had five children to feed. I found that comment inappropriate and unrelated to helping me make an informed medical decision for my dog. Ultimately, my dog was diagnosed with colitis--a condition that I believe should have been considered and evaluated before resorting to discussions of extreme possibilities. While I understand veterinarians need to rule out serious conditions, I expected a thorough physical examination, clear communication, and an explanation of why each test was necessary. Instead, there was no physical examination whatsoever before I was asked to approve more than $600 in testing. To make matters worse, I was also charged an additional 3% credit card surcharge. Between the unsanitary conditions, the lack of any physical examination, the pressure to authorize costly tests, the credit card fee, and the final bill, I left feeling that my concerns--and my dog's well-being--were not the priority. I will not be returning, and I hope the clinic takes these concerns seriously by improving both its cleanliness and its approach to patient care and communication. Our pets deserve better.
