However, our experience with acne treatment for my daughter has been disappointing. We prefer a tiered, collaborative approach to care--starting with less intensive treatments and escalating only if necessary. Unfortunately, this practice seems to favor jumping straight to the most aggressive (and expensive) options, without much discussion or openness to alternatives. We were particularly concerned about the strong push toward using The Burgh Pharmacy, which felt more like a business partnership than a patient-centered recommendation. On two separate occasions, we explicitly asked that prescriptions not be sent to The Burgh Pharmacy so we could review them with our preferred local pharmacy first. Despite this, Whalen still sent the scripts to The Burgh Pharmacy after a couple of days--disregarding our request. When we asked questions about the prescribed treatments or suggested trying a gentler approach first, we were met with resistance and even condescension. My daughter was told by reception, "Why would you ask your pharmacist?!"--a response that dismisses the value of a team-based approach to healthcare. We believe in informed decision-making and collaborative care. Unfortunately, this practice didn't seem to welcome that mindset. While they may be a good fit for some, especially for routine dermatological care, those seeking a more personalized, stepwise approach to treatment may want to explore other options.

The surgery went smoothly - skilled, quality work done right. They even let us come back in to allay concerns about what we thought was extra bleeding (which was normal bleeding, I guess we were just nervous nellies!) She then followed up the next day to find out how he was and let us know we could call her anytime if we have any problems or questions. I'm so glad we chose to use Dr. Barroner for the wisdom tooth extraction. If you need an oral surgeon, and you go anywhere else, you're a total bonehead. My head was tilting to the left and Dr. Roth did something called atlas orthogonal technique on me to get my head and shoulders back in alignment without doing the usual chiropractic techniques/adjusting. With a click of a button, my head went back to normal. I had to go back several times afterward to get some minor adjustments and to make sure everything stayed in alignment and it has. I am very grateful to Dr. Roth for all she has done for me. I still go on occasion and have bought herbs there as well after having some muscle testing done. They have a lot to offer and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff so highly recommend them.

At that point, Health Horizons informed me that they will no longer take my insurance, and I need to pay out of pocket per visit ($55 per visit for approximately 2 months, multiple appointments). I agreed to this. Once they started asking me to make multiple appointments on multiple days of the week, I opted to stop treatment. The total length of treatment was approximately 3 months. Following that, I was suddenly informed by Health Horizons that the insurance company opted not to make any payments to Health Horizons, and I owed them $700. When I asked why it took the insurance company months to inform them of non-payment, they told me, "that's how it works". This chiropractor is the reason why this "form of treatment" has such a negative reputation both in the medical field and also among the general public. This office sees every patient not as a human being, but as a dollar sign. When their checks stopped being written, they suddenly had insurance issues, and I needed to pay up or else! The "chiropractor" actually left me threatening voice mail messages. Avoid these bottom-feeder scammers at all costs! In response to below: I would never bother with your unscrupulous business again. I will only warn others of your shady practice. this insurance is auto related insurance, not health insurance. I know how much insurance I carry and in this case, it was covered by another liable insurance carrier. In office treatment time averages 10-12 minutes per session. The sessions you are saying that are not covered by insurance in a month were about 10. So 10, 12 minute sessions costs $700 out of pocket??? It's sad that businesses like yours exist, taking advantage of people in uncertain times. You reap what you sow...
