It was my first time going to Mixx because a flyer I saw saying it was free all nite. When I arrived, I was charged $15. I really wanted to see what it was about, so I paid the cover. 1st drink was weak because of the liquor they used. 2nd drink I asked for top shelf, and it was much better. Bartenders were cool. When leaving, I discovered that I had lost my keys in the club. Thankfully, the staff found them but held them ransom until I gave them a finders fee. The only thing I had was $20. First time at Mixx on a Sunday night, the Sunday before MLK day. One of my good friends asked me to go to Club Mixx with him to meet some more of our friends. I said sure, why not...just know I have to be up at 4:00am for a 7:00am flight home. I wish I didn't have to get up so early. I had a real good time there and the DJ they had there that night was absolutely, truly, ON POINT. I was able to get my life for the 90 minutes that I was there. Club Mixx is a very nice space in a strip mall. When we arrived prior to them opening at 9:00pm, the main parking lot was already packed. (Burkhardt's is in this particular mall too.) We ended up parking in a second lot about a quarter of a block away and walked back. Upon entry you can tell that the space is very clean and kept up nicely. I was truly surprised. What really surprised me is that they do not allow smoking inside the bar (thanks goodness), but rather they have a designated enclosed smoking area. Big props to Mixx for that! The drinks were, in typical Atlanta fashion (at least to me), on point. Didn't take too much to get me a little off kilter. Average price, about $7.00, which isn't too bad. The dance floor is a little small for a club this size though. When we finally left at about 10:30pm, not only was the dance floor extremely crowded, but the main bar area was mobbed, AND there was a line of people a block long (not an exaggeration) waiting to get into the club. read more

Oh, Mixx... Truth be told, I probably wouldn't have even been here if every other gay bar hadn't been closed for Christmas Eve. My friend Kevin was in town for the holiday and we were on our way to Burkhart's when I decided to pop in. We walked in and immediately perched ourselves at the empty bar (there were about six people here including us and the two employees). Surprised really isn't the best description, but I wasn't expecting it to be so nice. It's amazing what a smoking ban will do. Not only are you able to breathe easier, but it helps keep everything clean. Well, cleaner than if the bar were a haze of second hand smoke every night. They have a really large beer selection. I'm not a beer drinker or connoisseur by any means, but I thought it was noteworthy because Kevin was able to order something in Dutch and they had it. Our bartender Errol was cool and made us special peppermint shots to celebrate the season. At the time, I was very appreciative. I went to check out Mixx with some friends a few weeks ago. I'm giving it a middle of the road rating because while this is not a bar I would or will typically go to, it serves a purpose; and that purpose is dance club. The bartenders were very nice and the drinks were reasonably priced. I thought the space was layed out a little strange. I love that it's non-smoking. Mixx seems like a good bar to go dance at, but I would rather go to Burkharts or Felix's if I'm over by Ansley. read more

Very nice little spot. I have not been in this place in many many years, but I am very pleasantly surprised. It looks nice! They have a smallish dance floor, and a large enclosed smoking patio. It's very simple. From what I was just told, they are about to renovate and open up the walls. It'll be an upstairs/downstairs garden design just off the dance floor. We went there last night. Hadn't been in over a year. $12 cover EACH to enter a complete DUMP!!. There were about 10 tv monitors that didn't work. The floors and walls were filthy and no one gathered empties at all. The bar was barely stocked and NOTHING like the pictures on the google search. In 2 hours I think the DJ mixed and remixed the same song over and over. Main bar had 1 bartender serving. The other one sat back fingering his phone the entire time we were there. Never saw him make one drink for anyone. We used the upper level back bar where mixers were added from cans. Bartender there was good! I think that with a $12 cover they could keep the monitors working and clean the place just a little. What a terrible disappointment and I predict they wont last much longer. Saturday night peak time and there weren't 100 people at one time in the entire place including the patio bar. read more

Refreshing & upscale new nonsmoking bar for Atlanta! We have always had a great time here. Being a nonsmoker this was a welcome relief for me. Having a nice outside Patio my partner can still smoke if so desired. On Thursdays evenings Mixx started a weekly social which is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and meet with old ones. In today's economy this is wonderful opportunity to "Network" if your looking for a job, etc. The owners have really notched it up with the surroundings in the bar with granite counters and warm welcoming colors. For those who like to dance Mixx offers an awesome DJ after 10pm and on with no cover! This is an asset to the gay lifestyle in Atlanta! Check it out. read more

Mixx has quickly become one of my favorite hangouts in Atlanta. The bartenders are extremely friendly, the drinks are strong, the crowd is almost always fun, and- best of all- NO SMOKING! I don't smell like an ashtray when I leave. I'm also a big fan of Monday and Thursday nights. Mondays are piano bar sing-along and Thursdays are karaoke. The bar itself is open and immaculately clean. If you haven't been recently, I would definitely check it out. read more

I don't normally review bars, but I had to review Mixx. It opened with great promise and great fanfare. A new NONSMOKING bar/club in Atlanta that was going to provide a fresh new alternative to the bar/dance club scene in Atlanta. What started off with great promise, has faded into just another bar located in a crowed Ansley shopping center, with three other bars. The bar decor looks nice. However, the crowd does not. It quickly turned into a daddy bar, and the dance club part of it is non-existent. I don't know whether the owners ran out of money to bring in major djs or what happened, but now I can't tell Mixx apart from any of the other tired bars in the local scene. i went on a friday night and all i saw here was nothing but black guys. I'd say 99 percent of everyone here were black males. The music was nice and bartenders were ok. I thought it was funny how the website says it is upscale with a mix of people from all races so not true on a friday. Was in Atlanta for Labor Day Week, we were looking for something poppin'. One friend suggested Mixx and I am glad he did! The dance floor although small, was great with boom-boom music and plenty of hot men. I was really impressed by the bathrooms which were spectacular in design and style and spotlessly clean! Drinks were good and experience was a definite plus for me & my hubby's visit. Went back on Monday, Labor Day to enjoy bar-b-que and final visit with Atlanta friends before heading back home; noticed the crowd had definitely changed from Saturday night. The mostly older, kind of snobish crowd didn't impress me at all. The fact that one of the owners actually took a few moments to welcome us and talk to us saved this place from a negative rating of 1 or 2 stars. Will be back to Atlanta soon for search for relocation housing and once we move there I will definitely be a regular on the weekends and possibly the weekdays. read more
