I was instructed to bring him in at 9am when they opened, and waited and waited all day. They didn't call me until 5 o'clock and the girl in the back wasn't even done grooming him when I arrived. I had to help her hold him up because he was cooped up in a cage that was too small for him FOR THE ENTIRE DAY and his legs were so sore he couldn't even stand up. When I brought my dog in I had to help the lady put him in the small cage, she even remarked she couldn't have done it herself. I asked how long it would be and she said he would be done around lunchtime so I didn't worry that he would be in there too long. In my personal opinion, it's not animal abuse to keep a dog in a crate/cage, but if an animal can't turn around inside the crate it's way too small and keeping them in there for 8 hours is animal abuse. This place should be shut down for cruelty to animals. I had to literally carry my 100lb golden out of there because he couldn't walk and do it himself. I'm disgusted with these people and would never recommend anyone to go there. Avoid Village Groomer like the plague it is!

She came prepared and on time with Remi, and was such a big help during the shoot! She would hold Remi to the side, whenever she wasn't supposed to be in a photo, and would help us get Remi's attention with treats, so she was perfectly looking into the camera for the pics! Ten minutes before they closed I was stuck behind an accident on the bridge and I began calling to notify staff I was running behind. No one picked up the phone as I called for 15+ minutes. I get there 5 minutes after close (my fault I get it) but the doors were locked and lights were off. No staff attempted to reach out to me via email call or text. I have absolutely no clue where my dog (my emotional support pet) is. Their policy says under these circumstances that I've abandoned my dog and they may give her to a shelter. Again, I have absolutely no idea where she is. Two panic attacks later, I show up the next day, pick my baby up, and take her home. They still charged me, never apologized and claimed they tried to reach out to me. My number and email on the account were correct (I double checked). I'm begging you not to take your dog here, they do not care about you or them even a little. It's been years and still to this day it is the only time I've lost my temper with a service worker. Please please, please, do not bring your dog here.

For a very reasonable price you get all the things you need for a professional wash (including 4 different shampoos to choose from), wipes for their ears, wipes for their eyes, and a dryer to make sure your pup comes home nice and dry. There's a mat in the bottom of the tub so your dude or dudette isn't slipping around and panicking. The water is warm and the sprayer helps get all the soap out of their coat. From the time we hit the door to the time we are checking out it only takes me about 20 minutes to get my buddy washed and dried. You can also have them handle the wash if you want. They also have a grooming service. My buddy doesn't need much grooming but I have seen the results of their work and its all very nice (I used to own a grooming shop so I know a good cut). The staff is very friendly and helpful and they carry a wide variety of food and other supplies. Highly recommended!

After 2 hours of driving to fix their mistake, the owner Chad refused to apologize, refund, or take accountability and claimed a quick 20-minute brush counted as the full service deshedding. Details: We scheduled a deshedding appointment for our dog the week of the 9th for Friday afternoon. At pickup, I noticed my dog was not fully dry, and the total charge was $55 instead of the $70 we previously paid for a deshedding service. When I asked Eric about the price difference, he assured me the deshedding had been completed and that the groomer simply adjusted the price because my dog was not shedding as much. Later that evening, my dog was shedding more than before the appointment. The following morning (Saturday the 14th), I contacted the owner, Chad, who apologized and asked us to return Tuesday or Wednesday after 5 p.m. so he could correct the issue personally. We drove from Mount Pleasant (30 minutes each way) on Tuesday, but Chad was not present. Eric took our dog back for approximately 20 minutes and later acknowledged that the deshedding service had not been performed. He showed us the amount of hair removed and stated he would inform Chad so the situation could be made right. After not hearing back for several days, we contacted Island Pet again regarding a resolution, including the time spent driving to correct the mistake. During that conversation, Chad was defensive, raised his voice, and stated there would be no refund, credit, or further resolution. He claimed the 20-minute brushing session qualified as a deshedding service, defining it as de-shed shampoo, time to sit, followed by blow drying and brushing. However, that full process was not performed during the original appointment. We booked and expected a deshedding service but were instead charged for a basic wash, plus tip, and spent two additional hours driving.
