I gotta say that this place surprised me with how great it was :D We were greeted warmly and seated quickly (we had a reservation). We ordered the Miso marinated Black Cod, and the Sushi dinner to share. Also a couple hot teas. As "Authentic" some places claim to be, this one seems to be the closest to an "authentic Japanese restaurant" that I have found. (especially in the area) They start off by giving you warm towels, which you use to wipe your hands. (don't use to wipe your brow or neck unless you're an older salaryman) The Miso cod arrived first and was SOOOOO GOOOD. I was shocked how tender and flavorful it was. I need to order this way more. It's a must try! The sushi came out afterwards. The waitress explained what all of the different types of fish were. The slices of fish were large and thick. Everything was so tasty and flavorful. Also, throughout the meal we were offered more tea. If we accepted they would take our cups and dump out whatever remaining tea was left and then pour us a fresh cup...everytime! It's a small detail but it's so thoughtful and makes a big difference. After our meal we ordered my favorite which is Shime Saba (Vinegared Mackerel) and some Bincho (BC Tuna) These pieces were also thickly cut and very very delicious. So good. Recently visited during lunch. The place has a nice ambiance to it and was very quiet during my visit. I was the first table to walk in for lunch at around 12:30pm and there were maybe two more tables that came in after me. Yet, i had to ask twice to get tea served while i saw the other tables that came in after me being served already... What we ordered: Sushi lunch Sashimi lunch BC tuna roll Beef tataki Both lunch combos came with either soup or salad, not both. My salad was FROZEN. Frozen lettuce pieces in there by the bottom trying to be covered by the salad dressing, very disappointing. The rolls weren't great just by the looks, and they were falling apart the moment i picked them up. And u can barely pick it back up after dipping it in soy sauce. The sushi was better. Had the opportunity to dine at Mye restaurant last week and I can't recommend this place highly enough! I've been in the culinary industry for 19 years and this place checks off everything to enter the conversation of one of Oakville's top restaurants. I immediately texted everyone I know who lives in the area. The food: I am usually able to order fairly quickly when I enter a restaurant, but with everything on the menu being something I wanted to try. My friend and I decided to order a bunch of dishes to share and we were blown away by all of them. Our order consisted of the following: Yakiniku: The most tender prime rib you are going to try is going to be at this restaurant. Accompanied with some mixed veggies, I 'm still thinking about this dish a week later. Black Cod: This is easily the best black cod I've have had. I mistakenly confused this for Chilean seabass as it was that flakey and perfectly grilled. Rolls: Oh Mye! Roll & Lobster Roll. Both of these rolls were perfectly crafted with amazing fresh ingredients. Oysters: We had 2 different oyster options, the Oyster Rockefeller style along with the way they do it. The oysters were large, perfectly shucked, and flavours out of this world. Sushi & Sashimi: All of what we ordered was phenomenal, but we really stood out to me was the spicy scallop roll. When you usually order these at other Japanese restaurants, they are way too covered in mayo which masks the beautiful scallop. This was not like that at all. It felt light and soft which made a perfect addition to our meal. As you can see my friend and I ordered quite a bit, but we had plenty to take home for a full dinner. The atmosphere is a mix of modern Japanese mixed with some traditional elements that is very easy on the eye and gives you a very comfortable dining experience. I also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Motoaki Aoki who is the owner and executive chef of this establishment along with his son Kenta Aoki who has taken the reigns in running the restaurant. For many years we"ve visited Mye restaurant, first in the downtown area, but for the past few Mye2. It was the place to celebrate my wife's birthday. And on these occasions we enjoyed the tasting menu. The other night we stopped in for a light supper and learned that they had put the tasting menu back on the menu. We said we'll be back Saturday as we had something to celebrate. We'll the tasting menu didn't disappoint, each item was beautifully presented, explained and above all, delicious. At one point we asked what the flavour of a particular ingredient was. The owners son, came over with a sample of the leafy vegetable, explained what it was, it was great. The entire meal was enhanced by the service provided by Satsuki. We mentioned our adventure to our neighbours and we'll be back soon read more

I've been coming here for years. I would say it is the only authentic Japanese restaurant in the entire Oakville/Mississauga area. The menu and service is meticulously Japanese and deliciously prepared with freshest ingredients. Superb selection of fresh fish, including house specials toro and yellowtail collar, best house special sauce (for salads) and just simple, consistent (no cutting corners), yummy and wholesome food. The decor is clean and simple. Very nice private booths if you get a reservation. Relatively small restaurant, has a cosy, intimate vibe. Lighting is very dim though.. I had some trouble with reading the menu. Food is good though pricey for the amount you're getting. Not expecting huge portions but at least a price adjustment. In such cases, it's the outrageous rental costs of Oakville that patrons are mostly covering. I enjoy sushi very much and was happy to not have needed to consume a lot the evening I ate here.. otherwise, would've burned my pockets lol. Glad to have tried the place, nonetheless. I went here on a Monday lunch with my cousin. Given it's a Monday, the place was not that busy. The place is very formal and clean. We were seated right away at a booth. This place is also the second location of the more established Mye 2 on Church which I haven't tried yet. Granted that I wanted to try this place because of their ramen so that's what I ordered. Also, given that it's the closest ramen place near my parent's house, I needed to know of I'll have a closer alternative of getting my ramen fix than venturing to Toronto. On top of ramen, my cousin got a katsudon. We also ordered tempura and dynamite roll for the table. The ramen was very light and I found that there's nothing special. My egg was not soft boiled and I don't like that. I want my gooey soft boiled eggs. The katsudon was better when I tried it. The tempura was good. The dynamite was okay. Had dinner here the other night on the way back to Toronto. Considering it was a Friday night, Mye 2 was not that crowded. In a busy shopping plaza, I was able to park my car as the lot on site is quite big. Back to the restaurant. I like the decor here - it's minimalistic and super cozy. Service was okay - they all seem to be high schoolers. As for the food, it was okay as well. The menu consists of Classic Japanese home style dishes. Anyway, I'm never in Oakville so I do t know when I'll be back. If you are though and you're looking for a Japanese restaurant that's actually run by Japanese, Mye is it. One of the best sushi joints in Oakville. This place isn't AYCE but I promise that you will leave full and satisfied. It is on the pricier side, but you 100% pay for quality. You don't completely stuff your face so you leave feeling good about what you just put into your body, unlike going to an all you can eat place. The Fish is so fresh that it melts in your mouth. The flavours are simple yet complex and if you are a lover of all things umami, this should be your new spot. I have yet to be disappointed by a dish here. I started bringing my family and they loved it. There is something for everyone to eat and enjoy. If you like sashimi, Mye 2 does it right. Please note that there are closed from 2:30pm-5:30pm for their lunch time transition into their dinner menu. It's nice to finally have another place to dine on Japanese food in upper Oakville. The space is much bigger inside than it appears from the street view. Decor is clean and simple yet elegant. Menu is quite extensive with a large variety of appetizers, hot entrees, and sushi and sashimi to please the most finicky diner. We ordered edamame, sushi dinner, spicy tuna roll, and the pork belly ramen noodle dish. Ramen noodles were al dente and the pork belly was a good sized fatty and tender piece of meat although the broth was a bit too mild in flavour. Spicy tuna roll was really fresh and delicious. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly and the roll was ... Well... Perfect! Sushi dinner was good and the quality of the fish was excellent which also justifies the prices. I feel that price we are paying for 2 people is expensive. We ordered 2 entree and a roll. I was asked to choose either soup or salad. Every other Japanese restaurant I been to always come with both. I was surprised that wasn't the case. The fish is ok, but not too many selection. If you go to downtown Toronto and you can go to TaKe sushi which I feel it's much better value with the same price range. At the end, there is no dessert such as Green tea ice cream. I should start by saying that I LOVE Mye downtown Oakville. Never a let down. But they are closed every Monday so my boyfriend and I decided to try their second location last night. We were very happy with the service and meal. Every aspect of our visit was worth the drive from Toronto East End. For our apps, we shared the tuna carpaccio - so tender, and delicious (The finely julienned daikon was the most refreshing garnish I've ever had). We had our usual mains - shared the sushi dinner and a tempura appetizer. They were just as we expected... delicious! We also decided to share a small sized ramen... the sizing options made it an easier sell..lol. My boyfriend was blown away at the broth - he claims to be better than most of the Toronto ramen joints. I trust his opinion since he's scoured the city for the best bowl of ramen. Was here for lunch in January and was quite impressed. I'd call this the more casual sister of Mye downtown Oakville. I had the chicken teriyaki lunch. What a far cry from the typical sushi joint teriyaki bento box. This was a real chicken breast, skin on, that had been cooked to perfection and marinated/glazed with teriyaki sauce. It was so moist, I devoured it with a side of rice. I did miss the cabbage that you often get in combination. Also shared a spicy tuna roll with my husband and it was excellent however next time I'd go with nigiri. They seem to have high quality fish here so a nice piece of fish would probably be heavenly. Quality green tea as my beverage made for a very enjoyable lunch! read more

I had my sashimi dinner and my sister was still waiting for her sushi dinner. After 90 minutes, the waitress came out and told use that they weren't able to make her dish. So.... while they said she wouldn't have to pay for the mean (LOL????) and that they might be able to fix something, that was the extent of the 'apology'. Saw owner/chef Moe Aoki working but he didn't bother to come out to offer his apology. I have never had this experience in more than 50 years of dining out across the planet. Food was good but at least $10-$15 overpriced with negligible service. 2 mains for 2 persons for $60 (no alcohol, no appetizers), should at the very least deserve better wait staff service. They didn't even ask us how we were enjoying our meal, and when we asked for the bill, they didn't give it to us for 20 min because they were chatting it up with more familiar customers, and I had to approach them for the bill. Washrooms are quite sticky for such an elevated price-point restaurant. They are taking it easy and don't care because there is zero competition in East-Asian cuisine. Wait til that next ramen shop, izakaya, or Chinese food court opens and they will be out of business. read more

I'm surprised by so many negative and neutral reviews. I've eaten there at least a dozen times. The Sushi is fresh and the selection is reasonable. The ramen is excellent, and there is ample selection of other interesting and tasty dish options. The service has always been pleasant. That being said, on occasion I have asked for an off menu "chef's selection" and the servers seem to have a bit of trouble grasping my request. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Oakville so we eat here many times a year. The food is always excellent. Favorite appetizers are Mo's drunken chicken or the yakitori. Sushi and sashimi are always fresh, expertly made and beautifully presented. Other dishes such as the chicken teriyaki and tempura are also delicious. My favourite menu item (if I'm really hungry) is the Mye 2 Gozen, a vast selection of food which includes a little bit of everything all in a bento box style presentation. Really satisfying. Mye 2 had a total disregard for food allergies. I have eaten at Mye 2 three times. My first 2 experiences were positive. My third experience was completely disappointing. I made a takeout order, and ordered a sashimi dinner and a sushi dinner. I notified the server taking my order of a shellfish allergy. She even called back a few minutes later to verify the allergy. When I arrived there was shrimp in my order. It was sent back, and they swapped out the shrimp for salmon. I ended up with an assorted sushi order that was 50% salmon. It also left me concerned that the rest of the order had been contaminated. And they charged $2 fee for the substitution. To add insult to injury, the meal was a disappointment. The maguro was poorly cut. The fish was ragged and had a mealy texture. It was unpalatable. The rest of the order was mediocre at best. It definitely did not live up to Mye's reputation or quality. I don't know if I will give Mye 2 another chance. The experience was that bad. read more

Came mainly for the ramen, so this may or may not be indicative of the other menu items. Ordered "Mo's Famous" with extra pork which was $14.50; the regular ramen with a single pork slice was $12.50. Overall, I would not recommend the ramen here, or if you were strapped for time. Ramen quality: -1 For $14.50 ($16.39 after tax), I would expect higher quality ingredients. I'm not disappointed in the choices of ingredients use, because what they depict on the website is indeed what you get: broth, 3 pork belly slices, ramen noodles, a soft boiled egg, bamboo shoot, a piece of baby bokchoy, garlic. Rather, the noodles itself felt very similar to instant noodle quality. Pork, for that price, was slightly smaller than the palm of my hand. Price: -1 Again, $14.50 with meat portions you expect to match the added price. Compared to other, similarly priced ramen offerings like Momofuku ($14+, which even boasts locally sourced meats), Kinton($11+, much larger portioning), or Kenzo($11+, 24hr stewed broth) you'd probably consider Mye2 because you won't find a lot of options in the surrounding area. Wait time: -1 I came a little before 2:15pm on a weekday because I saw the lunch menu was until 2:30, but apparently that's when they close as well, so I ordered as soon as I sat. I was the last person to be served, and customers had already finished eating, but it still took 15min for me to get my ramen. Now, I don't know if it's because it was close to closing and no one else was ordering food, but I would not expect it to take that long (seriously, last call at 2:30 -- at the SAME time you close? If the reason it was slow was because you're packing it in early, make last call sooner than that). Also, maybe this score could have been salvaged with the side of salad that supposedly comes with the ramen, which I never got! read more
