Amazing food, quick service and fresh. I tried out this place for a quick lunch as I saw good reviews on Yelp already. My expectations weren't high nor low, but we're exceeded. The food came out fast, and was clearly made fresh. The owner is very friendly and every customer I saw walk in knew the owner and had a quick chat with him. (Also the other people dining in as well) it seemed as though he knew most of his regular customers personally and made a point of asking them how things were going in life. I thought this was a huge bonus to the atmosphere. This is one of those hole in the wall places that doesn't need fancy advertising as the food and service speaks for itself. The tempura was perfectly crispy yet light, and the spicy salmon maki roll was delicious. I also love how they put the extra filling on top, it's beautiful presentation and delicious. Only downside was if you wanted water simply for example, you had to pay $2 for a bottle of Aquafina. Next time I'll bring my own water, but it would be nice to just be able to have a complimentary glass of water. It didn't deter me much, just something to note. It's not a full sit down restaurant so I understand but I'm sure every lnow knows the prices of water bottles are crazy now! Anyways overall great food, highly recommend you try it!!
Found this restaurant on Google when I was in Oakville one day. Not very familiar with the Oakville area, so I was presently surprised to find that this restaurant was good! It's very fairly priced and the sushi was well made and the sashimi was fresh. For two people, the total came to around $50 after taxes and tips. We got two bento boxes and a special roll on the side. There was a lot of food in the bento box and we could barely finish the food. The bento box portions are definitely worth it. We wanted to order two rolls on the side, but the waiter suggested that we only order one roll. I found that a little odd since I assumed me over-ordering is better because they get more sales out of it, but I guess I was glad that he was honest and didn't want us to just over order. So I appreciated the honesty, but wouldn't have complained about leftovers for takeout LOL. Service from the staff was amazing. They paid attention to make sure that our tea was full all the time and was extremely polite. They were quite busy during lunch time and there was only a total of 3 employees working including the sushi chef, but service was prompt and the food came out quickly and was very hot and fresh. Lots of free parking available in the plaza. Cash/Debit is preferred since it's COVID-19.
We stopped by for dinner yesterday and tried the Hae Dup Bap (sashimi and salad on rice with a spicy and creamy dressing) and Tempura + Spicy Salmon Roll combo. Both dishes were well made and great for a light dinner. I especially enjoyed the dressing for the hae dup bap and the tempura sauce (which tasted like cinnamon toast crunch in a good way). The restaurant is small, with only about 6 tables. It seems to be family run, and the servers/owners are very friendly. It took a while for the food to arrive, but considering there weren't many people running the kitchen, this is understandable. If you're in a rush, this may not be the best option, but I would come by again the next time I'm in Oakville.
Update during Covid-19 My wife and I were craving sushi and she remembered this place because of its service. My first time coming and I have to say it was a pleasure. Even amidst this pandemic the owner was kind enough to give spring rolls on the house and threw in a free drink! I really appreciated. Kind owner and I will come back !!
I came to Wasabi & Teriyaki for a quick lunch. It's a typical Japanese restaurant in the GTA. Similar rolls and bento boxes. What stands out is ambiance which is relaxing with nice Japanese inspired decor and soothing orchestral music. The staff is very nice and polite. And the food quality is above par. I ordered their Lover combo 2 which consists of a dynamite roll (crab meat, cucumber, deep fried yam and shrimp, and avocado) and red dragon roll (dynamite roll with salmon on top). It was 10 mouth full sized pieces which wasn't enough for me but my appetite is above average. The deep fried shrimp and yam were freshly fried and crispy and not too oily. They were sparring with the spicy mayo which I enjoyed. Their wasabi, I think, is actual REAL wasabi that has been freshly ground/grated. It is spicy and tasty. It has a grainy texture as well. The price for the 2 rolls and tea is $13 plus tax and tip. It came out to around $17. Quite pricey for the amount of food you get. Comparing to other places serving the same combo at the same price their rolls are around 25% larger but quality may not be as good. All in all a great place to kill your craving with a good experience. I may come back to try a different lunch set and revisit this review.
A solid 5 stars. Not only was the food incredible but the small, quaint family run business was so very warm and welcoming. We were greeted by the nicest lady who told us to set ourselves as we please. Upon being seated, we were given our menus and served a hot pot of delicious green tea. They have a pretty solid, in-depth menu that definitely has something for everyone. My mom and I decided to go with the 36 piece sashimi boat, an order of the agedashi tofu and two sides of steamed white rice to go alongside our sashimi. We kept it simple as we weren't really looking to fill ourselves up, rather than get a feel for this place and the quality of their fish. Our sashimi boat came out soon after and it was beautifully decorated. It was full of vibrant, fresh fish. The selection wasn't the most diverse, but they definitely nailed the basics (tuna, salmon, butterfish etc). Every piece of fish was incredibly fresh and melt in your mouth tender. This was the first time in a long time that I've had salmon this good. Everything was delicious and we were very satisfied. The only POSSIBLE negative that I could bring forward is with our appetizer. We love ordering agedashi tofu whenever we're out at an Asian restaurant and happen to see it on the menu....so we decided to go for it. The batter was a bit heavy but overall the taste was good. I do understand that different cultures make this dish in different ways and to be honest, they've all been greatly unique. The bill came out to around $50.00....we left happy, satisfied, SURPRISINGLY full and confident that we found a great new little sushi spot in our area. Wasabi & Teriyaki is definitely an A La Carte sushi spot you should check out.

Now this is what I call a hidden gem!!I was around in Oakville area and looked up on good old faithful YELP for some Japanese options and there popped this place with amazing reviews which I was more that ready/excited to try. As I walk in this small restaurant more like a take out joint I would say with minimal seating and fairly cute decor, I was welcomed with a smile and was made to sit.Soon came the menu from which I decided to go with shrimp tempura and 4 assorted sushi. The food came out within no time and was beyond fresh and full of flavors.Without doubt this is the best shrimp tempura I have tasted in a while.The shrimp was fresh and lightly battered.It was perfectly crunchy and not oily at all.The tempura sauce was light and not overly sodiumized. Now my assorted sushi were tuna, white tuna, salmon and unagi.All the fish used were immensely fresh and the rice used was of great quality.The sushi was moist unlike many places where it's dry.Also I noticed the size of each sushi was a bit smaller than standardly served at other restaurants which I absolutely had no issue with as long as it was fresh and tasted amazing. As I was leaving I congratulated the owner for such good food he's offering and also for the wonderful 4.5 stars on Yelp.He politely told me he wasn't too computer/Internet savvy and smiled. The restaurant is clean and the service was quick.Every time I'm in Oakville and crave Japanese food I will definitely be pay this place a visit.
Thoroughly disappointed with the quality of their fish. Ordered the large maki, sushi & sashimi party tray 70 pieces for $59.99 and honestly, 1/3 of the tray was vegetable rolls, the other 1/3 was anything salmon related and the rest was just meh. There was so much salmon. I wouldn't mind if it was decent quality but the quality of salmon that was provided was all you can eat grade. If I wanted to gorge myself with low quality salmon, I'd go to an all you can eat restaurant. The tuna sashimi was literally 1/3 of the size of the salmon sashimi and also lower grade. I don't mind low grade sashimi but I don't think it's right to charge this price for mediocre quality. The rice was lacking mirin and had a faint taste of sushi rice. Also, they only gave us at most two teaspoons of wasabi when we ordered 70 pieces but gave us literally a cup of soya sauce. Like why? We called in to order take out and was informed that it would be an hour or so for the tray to be ready. We weren't too thrilled but waited anyway. When we got to the restaurant, it was completely empty. The folks working here seems nice but overall, I would not recommend this place nor would I return.
5 stars because the owners are so kind, sushi was great for it's price, and the decorations are on point. There were three of us so the owners gave us a free miso soup as our order only came with two. They also didn't charge us for a bottled water we ordered. My brother tipped 15% though he meant to tip 20%, so he left the additional cash. The humble owners told us to keep it and use it for coffee or whatever we would like. I know it doesn't sound like much but it's the little things that matter to me. We ordered the medium sushi love boat, spider roll, and calamari. The sushi is all fresh. The spider roll here was soft as some places can have it rather chewy. My brother's favourite is the spider roll so if he deems it good, then it must be! The deep fried calamari had a nice crispy tempura batter, was thin and tender. The rest of the sushi boat was delicious too. They don't accept visa, we had to use debit!
This is an amazing tinny place with a remarkably skilled chef. I had the salmon sushi and sashimi platter. Outstanding presentation only out done by the flavor and freshness of everything I was served. I asked for a recommendation for a signature dish and I was served a hand roll of spicy and crunchy salmon and avocado. It was awesome too. I expected very little going into the restaurant for the first time, but was blown away.

Excellent service and delicious food! Highly recommended if you're in the area for fresh sushi served with a smile! I got the Wasabi special roll which was deep fried and filled with cheese, salmon and avocado I was still hungry so I got the red dragon roll which was good but not outstanding I think the flavor profile of the red dragon could be improved a bit but the Wasabi special was a hit!! The server was excellent and even encouraged me not to order too much bc the portions were quite large (he was right). It's not often you find an honest restaurant that doesn't want to upcharge Highly recommend you check this place out if you're in the area for a quick lunch! read more

We moved to the GTA from Vancouver a year ago and were surprised how much more sushi cost here. Everything is very fresh and delicious and the prices are really good!! We've been here a couple times already. Service is fast and friendly. Absolutely recommend. read more

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! It's in a little corner in a plaza, and doesn't look like much, but this little independent sushi place is a hidden gem. We came in on a Friday night (right after Oakville opened their restaurants from the COVID Lockdown) after getting turned back from every other "big" sushi place (K&B, August 8, Spoon & Fork). I'm so glad that we did. We were warned that the food would take a while to prepare since they were overwhelmed with take out orders, so we appreciated the heads up. We were started off with miso soup, which was absolutely delicious. So flavourful and savoury. The owner was kind enough to bring 6 spring rolls to the table for free as we waited. Now, onto the actual sushi: it was incredible. The sashimi was such a thick cut and so fresh, the salmon basically melts in your mouth. All the sushi rolls were fresh, light, and delicious. I usually dislike fried salmon in my rolls, but these ones were so well done I actually enjoyed the crunch. The red dragon is by far the best roll they had. It's also so reasonably priced that for such high quality sushi we were surprised the total came out to only $48 (& we added sashimi!). Also, the wasabi was unlike anything I've ever tried anywhere else. It was creamy and SPICY!! Like REALLY spicy! There was a total of maybe 5 people working in the kitchen and they all had their hands full. Our server was the owner, and he was a sweet old man who truly did his best to accompany us and ensure everything was to our liking. I 100% recommend this place and will be coming back again. The inside is so small and cozy, perfect for a date night! So happy I came here! read more

I repetitively come back to Wasabi & Teriyaki every couple of months. My boyfriend and I always get the same things: 1. Chicken Udon: I think I'll switch from chicken from now on. I think they marinate their chicken in a sweet sauce but it's began to taste a little weird to me. However, the quality of the chicken is excellent, the soup is flavorful, and the noodles are al-dente. 2. Chicken Teriyaki: The chicken teriyaki is delicious! There's so muuuch chicken in this dish. The teriyaki sauce they use is thick and sweet. My boyfriend always leaves the veggies as he says "he doesn't like the boiled lettuce". 3. Spicy Salmon Roll: I love how they pile on more salmon pieces at the top of the roll and it makes you really feel like you get the value of the roll back but for some reason, I just don't like how this roll tastes as much as I used to in my past visits. 4. Rainbow Dragon Roll: LOVE the Rainbow Roll however. It's packed with the shrimp tempura and has avocado and various types of fishes laid on top. I'm 100% getting this roll again next time I return! Overall, their cooked food is average but their sushi pushes it over the top for quality and quantity. read more
I'll admit, I was hesitant to go to this place, but as my desperate search for cheap and decent sushi in Oakville continues, things are going to get crazy. Wasabi & Teriyaki has the most unassuming storefront I have ever seen. It basically could be a car parts store from the front - white sign with plain blue letters, really nothing fancy, and part of the reason I hesitated to go there - it just doesn't look quite right. Upon entering, we were the only patrons in the restaurant and there were no staff to be seen - red flag, red flag! But still, we pursued, and found a server who was quite apologetic and quickly seated us. It's more of a "fast food" style restaurant, with pictures of items on a board behind the bar and a very small seating area. We were offered tea or water, and chose tea. It came in a personal pot brewed for us, and made me feel a little more at ease. We both ordered combos, myself the "california roll and dynamite roll" but I also was able to try the "udon and spicy salmon roll" ordered by my dining mate. The food came quickly and was surprsingly quite good! The rolls were fresh and good, and the udon was a little plain but definitely nothing to complain about. During this time two things happened that I thought were weird: one, we decided we wanted water and bottled water was brought over. They said they don't have other water and we won't be charged. But.. how did they make my soup? How could bottled water possibly be cost effective?? The other thing that annoyed me was that the chef who dropped off our food, noted how big my meal was and was all surprised that I was going to eat it. Guess what. I can eat two sushi rolls no problem. I could probably eat twice that amount of food if I really wanted to, and commenting on it doesn't make me feel better! Besides those two strange moments, I actually had a decent sushi meal and a good price, for the first time in Oakville! Is this better than my usual spots in Toronto, no - but I'm adjusting my expectations and I will be back. read more
Hands down the best sushi in Oakville. The cutest little store, not too many tables but can accommodate a few groups of 4 at a time. The owners are super sociable and nice people. They also like my son, give him little presents :) They have sushi boats; a bunch of sushi variety with interesting ingredients like avocados, tempura yams etc. Boats are great for sharing. Their miso soup is excellent. The appetizers are all great, my favorite ones are age tofu and gyozas. Soooo yummy!! Also, try their green tea. read more

I was impressed the first time I came so I decided to bring my parents here. This second time I was disappointed. I called to make reservations since I knew there are only 5 tables, he asked me what time then proceeded to say they don't take reservations, which is fine but when we got there the place was completely empty so I'm not sure what the problem was. I said a lot of good things to my parents so I wanted to make sure I ordered something good for them. When he came around the cook which was also whom I spoke to on the phone he walked away seemingly annoyed since I said I needed a few more minutes. Sushi was good but not as good as the last time I was there, miso soup on the salty side, tempura was nicely fried not super oily, but I still have yet to receive these complimentary spring rolls other people speak about. Overall the food is good. Not very happy with the service. read more

Cozy little place in a plaza that also holds a Denny's, Home Depot, and No Frills. There are 5 tables. That is all. I also think I met Pat Morita's doppelgänger who seated us and brought our food. He was friendly and service was perfect. We ordered edamame and agadashi tofu to start and the medium roll combo to share for dinner. Tofu was crispy and tasty and served piping hot. The edamame was overcooked. The sushi was fresh and very good. The elevator music version of David Guetta's Titanium was "interesting". Good place to come for sushi any night the mood strikes! read more

Ordered the chicken teriyaki and beef yakisoba. Both come with rice, veggies and a spring roll. Total cost of 21 dollars or so. 3 people ate it quite easily, with leftovers. Dad can't eat spicy food, so the flavours were great. It wasn't too salty or sour. Just tasted fresh and enjoyable. The owners seem quite nice. I'm not sure if credit is taken at this place though, as I paid cash. Since it was Saturday night and business was booming, had to wait a bit for food to be prepared. Still, well worth it. read more

So good! Looking for a place to eat, I stopped in. Being vegetarian, I always scope out the veggie options first. There are many! The music is nice, the AC was cool and the place was clean. As for the food- delicious! My rolls were so fresh and the rice was the perfect stickiness. Yum! Absolutely recommend! Only about 5 tables though, so if it gets busy you're going to have to choose take-out. read more

Great service and fair pricing! Environment has a really homey and cozy feel, server and manager really friendly, patient and conversational. Food was served quickly and presented well. Convenient location in Oakville with a lot of parking to access. read more

I've been here twice and I don't live in the area. I come for the quality and simplicity of the food they serve. I also like the ambience. Staff are nice and I couldn't help but notice the fast service they provide for pick up orders. read more
