Quick summary: This was my first time to this provider and they will have my business from now on. (unless something dramatic were to occur.) Full Review: I was in a pinch (my last pair of glasses broke and my prescription was 2.5 yrs old). I walked in and asked if I could just wait and see if they could fit me in. The staff said I was welcome to wait (in fact they were super friendly) but they were completely booked so it wasn't likely I would be seen. I lucked out and a person did not show up. They fit me in after about 20min. My experience was excellent. Honestly it was one of the best trips to an eye doctor I've have in many many years. (I've worn contacts/glasses for nearly 30yrs). While I was there, I went ahead and ordered my new glasses (one of the new Nike frames). This was on a Friday. For some reason, I didn't get the transition lenses this time ( I almost always do). As the weekend progressed I started having sever buyers remorse. I went in to their office Saturday afternoon and asked if I could change my order to add the transition to the glasses. I really thought the answer would be no. They were happy to help me make the change and let me know that it would probably delay my order. I kind of assumed it would but I felt better about the purchase now so no big deal. Imagine my surprise when they called me Monday afternoon to let me know I could come in and pick up my glasses! Booked an appointment online for next available Saturday, which was some weeks out. As the week of the appointment approached I received recorded messages notifying me of the appointment. Instructing if I couldn't make it to call them. I went in the day of my appointment, a 45 min drive, and was told they filled my time slot because I didn't confirm the appointment, what!!! The customer service lady hardly made an effort to correct the issue or to get me in quicker. Now I have to wait another month to see them. All I wanted to do was to replace a pair of glasses I lost. I will not be back to this location and I am looking at options to use a different company! read more

Great place. The Doc is attentive and has a wonderful bedside manner. There is also a wide selection of frames to choose from.

I order contacts from MyEyeDr in Clayton, however I called the Garner office since the Clayton one was closed, with a few questions and Miss Azucena (I believe the receptionist) went above and beyond to help me out and relay all the information I needed and more. Dr. Allard is really great. My first appointment there was good. But the second exam I got from here was a disgruntling experience. Both times I did wait for the doctor about 15-20 minutes past the appointment time and after paperwork. It was a really short exam. Then, I started doing a contact lens fitting. The employee assisting me with this didn't mention the cost of the contact fitting until it was already in progress. They also did not say that getting photos of my eyes would cost extra. Then I was trying to verify with the same employee about how much I would pay out of pocket versus my insurance, and it wasn't clear. The employee did not tell me what wasn't covered, which would have been a good thing to know. I asked for a refund because I didn't want to pay that amount out of pocket. I also asked if lens prices had gone up since the last time. To which the employee said, 'I don't know, my dear. We don't make the prices. This is based off of the copays that your insurance gives,' and she bid me good-day and walked off. Overall, she was not upfront about costs and provided poor customer service. Again, the doctor is great. But average customer service involves making it clear to others what they need to pay. Bare minimum. read more

I had broken my prescription glasses that I use for work. When I called the office to get an appointment, they said they couldn't get me in for 1 1/2 months. When I explained my situation, they repeated they couldn't get me in for 1 1/2 months. I don't think this was good patient care for an existing patient of several years. We have been going to this office for several years. During the past two-three years the waiting time has seemed to increase. I hate sounding like an entitled snob, but my time is just as important as the physician. After filling out the patient forms at home, including insurance information and medical history we were handed more paper work to complete with the same information. Because our appointments were for 315p we arrived 15 min early. By 4pm we were still waiting to be seen by the eye doctor. We finally gave up and left. I suspect they are double booking. We will not be making another appointment with this office. I hate this because we trust Dr.Allred. According to the online availability schedule he is there only a few days each month, so we waited just so we could schedule with him. read more

The rubber nose piece of my glasses broke and my eye doctor is 2 hours away from where I live. I took a chance and stopped by here on my lunch break. I walked in and showed the man at the front desk my issue and he immediately took them back to replace the piece! Had me in and out in less than 10 minutes. Replaced the broken side and the existing side and cleaned my glasses for no charge! read more

Not a huge fan of this location to begin with. I switched to the Holly Springs location and have had nothing but a positive experience for the past two years. But today stopped in and to get some of the No-Fog wipes, as they are the best things I have ever used since the whole COVID pandemic. My glasses fog like crazy with a mask, but these wipe eliminate that! While trying to get them I was told that I had to wear a surgical mask, that I could not wear my N95.... UMMM an N95 if worn properly is much more effective!! There is nothing posted about mask must be worn vs. other mask. But they should do some research... I would be happy a person is wearing an N95, they are better protected as well as you if the person has anything!! read more

What started out as a good experience with Dr. Allard and his assistant in their knowledgeable, thorough eye exam and friendly demeanors quickly turned into a nightmare when having to deal with his lying, cheating, dishonest front-end staff. Unfortunately, most of the poor reviews regarding this office seem to allude to the fact that Dr. Allard's proficiency is constantly overshadowed by his incompetent staff because as we all know, you're only as strong as your weakest link. My husband and I finished our eye exams at 7:00 p.m. - closing time. We were met by a middle-aged, chubby blonde lady to pick out glasses. We asked if we could return the next day as it was closing time, and we didn't want to feel rushed and we had our child with us. She said, "No. This is part of your appointment, and you need to do it now because I have all your info in hand." I explained that I didn't plan to fill my prescription at this facility because I had frames picked out elsewhere. She proceeded to pressure both of us to get something even though neither of us were thrilled with the selection. (At this point, the doors were locked, and we were not going to be able to leave unless we made eyeglass purchases). She assured us that our happiness is their priority and if we are unhappy with our selection after we receive it, they will bend over backwards to make it right. We settled on frames we didn't like just so we could get out of there. I was clearly in distress at this point and my husband tried one last time, "Look, she really doesn't like these frames can you just put this process on pause and let her think about it?" Her reply, "No, it's already processed." Then she looked at me and said, "You really are overthinking this." $700.00 later we left shocked and feeling like we were just scammed out of a lot of money. Only after the fact did we learn about The Eyeglass Rule implemented by the Federal Trade Commission which LEGALLY requires doctors to provide patients with their prescription immediately after their exam and prohibits prescribers from requiring patients to buy eyeglasses to receive their prescription. Ironically, we were never given any discharge paperwork until the glasses were paid for as everything was printed on the same receipt! When we got the text to get the glasses, we were hoping to explain our harrowing experience and see if we could get a full refund, after all, our happiness is their priority. In reviewing our purchase with a different associate, we learned that chubby blonde lady ordered the most expensive lenses they had and failed to give me any of the other options as she LEGALLY should have. I would never have ordered premium lenses if given the choice. When asked if they work on commission the answer was YES and that's when it all started to make sense. Enter the "General Manager" Jonathan Millwood, to further add to the nightmare. He has no conscience much less people skills to mediate any situation and used his big bad bully size to shoo us away with no fair options or a resolution. To say I am traumatized by this experience is an understatement! I don't know how any doctor with an ounce of integrity could stand behind staff who lie, cheat and bully customers the way they do just for the sake of their commission. I feel sorry for Dr. Allard. I cannot recommend his services based solely on his deplorable staff. read more

We love Dr Allard! My whole family has seen him for several years now. The selection of frames is pretty good. Three of us have Eye Med Ins and have not had any problems. We have one daughter who is adopted and has Medicaid. This is a problem ! Because she has medicaid its difficult to get an appointment for her. I have been told on three separate occasions that they are only allowed to schedule one medicaid patient per day so her appointment has to be 3 or 4 months ahead! What! I asked if this is their rule or a medicaid rule and I get silence. They won't awnser the question because its not a medicaid rule. Its their rule to maximize profit. The selection of medicaid frames is about 6 or 7 pairs to choose from. My daughter has literally had every frame in this selection. If you don't have medicaid this is a great place to go. If you have medicaid expect to be treated like a red headed step child or third class citizen. In the past we all get hard cases and lens cleaner with glasses purchase. The child who has medicaid gets no lens cleaner and a soft case. Really? You're giving a soft case to a child? If you ask for lens cleaner and a hard case expect some rude comments from staff. This year I scheduled my family appointments elsewhere. Its a shame because we really love Dr Allard. read more

I stopped into MyEyeDr and 3 very wonderful ladies helped me out by giving me a contact sample. It helped that I had my prescription on me. My son and I purchased our glasses from this location. My son has a very strong prescription and cannot see without his glasses. Today I picked him up from school around 5:30 to find out his glasses had broken and were completely missing an arm. I immediately contacted the store and they told me to come in. I got to the store 10 minutes before closing, they had the same pair of glasses in stock and were able to switch out the lenses and have us walk out with glasses since they were under warranty! This is probably the best experience I've had after using LensCrafters for years and having to wait a full 2 weeks. Plus the employees at the store are delightful, make sure you get the warranty if you have kids I paid nothing today! Now my son will have glasses for picture day tomorrow :) read more

This is the kind of place where you feel like you need a shower after leaving. You're not exactly sure how they ripped you off, or the insurance company off, but you know that they are up to no good. They also have a large hang up regarding progressive contact lenses. They gave me the sales pitch and I gave them a try. They seemed okay in the office but as soon as I stepped out into the real world, I realized that they were not going to work for me since I could no longer read street signs coming up while driving. I go back in and the manager puts up a big fuss about not wanting to change anything. I eventually see the eye doctor again and I agree to try one progressive lens and one normal lens. Later in the evening when I begin reading, I realize that I still need my reading glasses. My wife has her appointment the next day so she lets them know that I would like to change my prescription so that I no longer have a progressive lens in each eye. They agree but say that I must first wait for the current contact order to arrive before they will change the order.... huh?!? So, I played their game, and after they never called me to let me know my contacts were in, I eventually called and found that they were so I went in. More fussing about changing the order. They of course have no record of the previous conversation and I have to go through the whole thing again to CONVINCE THEM that the progressive lenses are not for me. They tell me that they will check with the doctor and get back to me. I eventually go back to the front desk to find why I'm waiting so long and the front desk lady says that I didn't need to wait anymore and should just go home and they will "call me" when the new order is ready. She just never bothered to let me know that everything was all set. It's just a sleazy place. I'm convinced that they hire people from used car lots. read more

BEST eye care experience I think I have ever had! Seriously. Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. When I told them I preferred the blue light test vs. the air puff, they were happy to accommodate. The optician who helped me pick out my new frames & lenses was so calm and fun to work with. Truly, this was a GREAT experience for me. I hadn't been back to the eye doctor in 13 years. Went to My Eye Dr and had an exam and later got glasses. Initial rep did not understand I had 2 overlapping eye plans and said I could not have an exam though I talked to VSP and knew I could. She did not listen and said she could do more to resolve the issue. I then called VSP, who in turn called and resolved the problem. Had the young lady only listened to me, she would have known what to ask my carrier and all would have been fine. Just a lack of effort. Entire store cannot be judged by one staffer. Exam went well and the selection of frames were very good. Everyone else was professional and courteous. read more

I bought my first pair of prescription sunglasses here and the frames broke just opening them up to put them on. They replaced them and when they broke a second time i got a different frame since the quality of the first brand poor. After the year warranty team out from when i bought the first pair the frames broke a third time. This time they would not replace them even though i had only had them a few months. I'm very careful with my glasses and these were obviously poor quality frames that they are selling. I will not be back. The only reason i am giving 2 stars is because the doctor was great. read more

This was my first vist to this location. I felt like i was being nickeled and dimed for everything. They tried to pressure me to buy new frames even though i already had some that i liked and hardly wear. I chose to keep my same frame and they sent them off to have my new prescription put in them. The glasses came back with part of the purple frame chipped off. The person assisting me was like oh well that's what happens when you have an old frame and don't buy a new one. I asked so nothing can be done and she just shrugged her shoulders and said she will see if she can contact the mfg to see if they still have my frame and give me a call back. Of course i never heard anything from them again. I will never use this location again. When you break a customer's item, you would think you would acknowledge the situation before the customer notice it and already have a solution in process to fix the situation. WOW!!! People... You have got to try this place. I mean for anything you may need for your eyes; this place is definitely the place! I am a long-standing patient of Eyecare Center, in Cary. Yesterday, I developed a painful, swelling condition involving my right eye lid. It was very painful, stinging, itching...a mess. I suspected it was a really bad sty, but wanted to make sure this wasn't something more serious. I called the Eyecare Center and requested only that they check that eye, as I was very concerned, and I've never had this problem before. Eyecare Center told me their next available appointment was in February! February! So, to be clear... I wasn't asking for an eye exam or any "routine" service to my eyes. This was a little more serious (I thought) and would have warranted only a little bit of their time to look at my eye, but that's what they told me. So, I asked for a referral to another office they thought might be able to see me. They referred me to another Eyecare Center (in Cary), a little further down the road. Again, I was told the same thing. U n b e l i e v a b l e ! So, I asked 'them' for a referral and the same story played once again, but for a different eyecare store. Three times I tried... so lastly, I took a chance, went online and found "myeyedr." Within two hours I was sitting in their office with one of the most-kindest, professional, and easy to work with staff ever! I mean EVERYONE in this office is just 'top notch.' In fact, I thought with such a super staff, surely the doctor would not be so great. Boy was I wrong! His name is Dr. Allard and all I can say is 'wow.' Bedside manner? Seems like this guy invented it, lol. He's so kind, smart, knowledgeable and thorough. What more can you ask for in a good doctor? Suffice it to say, he took really good care of my eye. Funny thing though... Before departing, he happened to ask me where I normally go for my eye care? I told him my story (above) and he was just shocked that as a long-standing patient at the Eyecare Center, this how they treated me. Yea...
