My exam by Ali Jaffry, OD was the most thorough and best explained examination that I've received since retiring from the US Navy as a 20-year Naval Flight Officer. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything that he checked, the condition of my eyes, and how my prescription had not changed much since my last eye exam in 2019. Selecting frames and lenses for two (2) sets of glasses was also an excellent process. The person helping me ensured that I understood what options were available and best for my eyes. The price of the first set of glasses was very low and the overall cost for both pairs was very resonable. I highly recommend the MyEyeDr in Garner, NC and will check my eyes annually in the future.

As the weekend progressed I started having sever buyers remorse. I went in to their office Saturday afternoon and asked if I could change my order to add the transition to the glasses. I really thought the answer would be no. They were happy to help me make the change and let me know that it would probably delay my order. So their form doesn't populate right. And they called me a liar. But here's the kicker: Even if they took Blue Cross/BS, the lady at the desk told me it doesn't cover routine visits. They wrote me about needing to visit, but even BC/BS doesn't cover the visit. How absolutely stupid is that? So I basically wasted time 1) setting the appointment; 2) filling out a useless form; and 3) driving to Costco in the rain during the middle of the busiest time of year. I guess they get so many customers through Costco that they don't care.

Nonetheless, the employees are professional and helpful. Dr. Martin is kind, patient, and knowledgable. He takes the time to answer questions, offer options, and hear your preferences. I continue to return annually for check-ups. They are clear regarding the pricing and don't do additional tests unless needed or requested. For instance they don't dilate your eyes if unneeded unless you request it. Side note: the online registration is convenient albeit long. The uploaded photos of your insurance card and license don't go through so they need to scan them when you arrive. Parking is available in spaces surrounding the building.

Everyone is so friendly and always ready to help. We both are currently seeing Dr May. He is awesome!! He shows he cares about his patients by listening and making sure he answers any questions in a way you will understand. He willingly explains everything that may be going on with your eyes and makes sure he follows up at your next visit. While going over charges at the end, I had a $145 contact fitting fee. I've been wearing contacts for years so no one helped me "fit" anything. After stating they should really be more transparent around pricing I was informed that I was supposed to be told upfront. I asked for one pair of contact lens samples to take with me to use during the two week wait time and was told no. $718 and 3 hours later (no exaggeration ) I was finally on my way out. I did ask if that time frame was typical and was told that it was normal now that they've switched to virtual. I now know after reading other reviews that it's actually not typical. I feel deceived on pricing and my time and patronage were not respected or appreciated. I'll be picking up my glasses (cheapest pair available) and contacts and will never visit again. I'll add that the virtual visit with the doctor and technician was fine and both were professional. Unfortunately this doesn't make up for the rest of the visit but it's at least one good caveat to this.
