My experience has been that the front desk reception staff could not be less friendly or less helpful. They barely make eye contact and sullenly greet you and direct you to where you need to go. Jennifer, the practice manager and one of the ophthalmologist I've met with are nice and seem friendly and helpful. I went to Clarity Boston today to get a 2nd pair of glasses for a long trip I have scheduled. The staff member was very happy to help me until they reviewed my prescription and I was told my prescription had expired yesterday..... yep yesterday. My prescription was written in December 2024, so beware this vendor sets expiration at 365 days the NC legal minimum. Prescriptions can be valid for 2 years, because many only have coverage for vision every other year. SO BE AWARE CLARITY IS A NICE PLACE DRIVEN BY THE DOLLAR. Regarding my previous comment. This had nothing to do with the exchange of the glasses. We understood the policy and we never complained about that. My husband was just glad to get a pair of glasses that will hopefully be a better fit. He has never had this happen before but we do understand the policy. The thing I am complaining about is the attitude of Leslie. She was sarcastic and came back with smart answers every time we asked a question. She talks down to you which comes across as disrespectful. Feel free to call me and I'll be glad to elaborate more. First time to Clarity Vision. The office is very clean and modern with a friendly staff. It only took a few minutes before they were able to see me and my wife. The technician who saw us was Megan. She was friendly, personable, and professional. Dr. Bollenbecker was easy to talk to, she made me feel comfortable, and was patient. She took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly and had good recommendations for any concerns I had. After getting fitted for contacts, we worked with Lena for new glasses. Lena was patient and took an active interest in what my preferences were, while also finding glasses that looked good and felt comfortable. She didn't rush the process or divide her time. In the end, I credit her for finding two pairs of glasses for me that I likely wouldn't have picked out on my own. This is a testimony of the professionalism and experience Lena has. they are AMAZING! Bought a new pair of glassed, cam back later in the week to have them adjusted, they gladly did that . 6 weeks later, I fell and my new glasses were damaged. the left 'arm' was bent outwards about an inch - went in to see if they could be fixed - and they were able fix them, like new. While fixing them they saw a chip in the lens (from the all) and realized the lenses were under warranty. They ordered new lenses - they came in a week later - they installed the in the store, and my glasses are like new! I wanted to get another pair - style, in blue. The shop did not have them, they checked the website, and they were not there only. Instead of telling me they were not available and telling me to pick out something new, they told me the designer was doing a 'show' at the store the 2 weeks. I went to that show, and the designer HAD the blue glasses I wanted! I was able to order them, same lens options. The customer service is fabulous, the selection of frames is fabulous. read more

Took my three-year-old here for his first ever eye exam... I can't say enough great things about this practice. From the moment we walked in they immediately made my son feel safe, welcomed and even got him more excited about his appointment. The nurse who did his Initial intake, was amazing. He was super patient and kind, he did a wonderful job customizing the test so it was easier for him to complete. Then The Doctor came and he was even better! They are so patient and take the time to answer all of a worried moms questions and even help me be more informed about my son's eye health. Highly recommend this place! Came to get my eye exam and new glasses. This is a very nice office and incredible selection of eyewear for everyone. I had to make an appointment for my eye exam and had no problem getting a appointment for the following week after I called. Friendly doctors and pleasant atmosphere. Clean vision exam area with all the new up to date testing equipment. My doc was very friendly and knowledgeable. My only complaint was I had a guy that tried to help me pick out new eyeglasses-he tried his best but wasn't too helpful. Side note: I came back to get a pair of sunglasses and met an amazing lady that helped me find some amazing sunglasses and those oversized glasses I had wanted and couldn't get last visit. I have been a patient of Dr. Powell for many years. Today, between the time of 10:10 AM and 10:30 AM, I stopped by and was totally ignored by the lady sitting behind their reception desk. They are great with kids, and parents! :) They have a wonderful selection, and will order anything they can for a patient. They also provide a two week trial period, for kids' glasses- which is so awesome, since a pair of frames might not work out... When I arrived inside the receptionist said, and I quote, "you're 11 minutes late so we decided to cancel your appointment". Don't go here! I made 3 visits to this office to get my contacts prescription updated and they still can't get the prescription right. I had to wait over an hour before I was seen at one of the appointments. They told me its normal to have to come back 3 or more times to get a prescription updated, but I have never had to come back once to any other optometrists in 15 years of wearing contacts. Never again. Went in w/ insurance, Ins. company told me the exam was covered (as long as I picked formulary covered contacts.) They asked me what contact I used in the past, I told them, came in w/ a trial. "Don't worry, it's covered" At no point did their very inexperienced staff look at my insurance, tell me the formulary contacts that were covered, or review my options w/ me. End of the visit: "Sorry, your exam wasn't covered because you have an astigmatism (so does most of the world) and you didn't choose contacts covered by your Ins. formulary." Seriously? Did anyone want to review these options w/ me? No! They asked what I used historically and proceeded to charge me $150+. Now ordering contacts: "Sorry - this is not the contact type your doctor approved. If you'd like to switch your contact type, you have to come in for another visit/fitting".. REALLY??? Same brand, same prescription, just went from Monthly's to biweekly's, but if I want to switch them I have to go back for another appointment? No thanks, I don't even want the darn contacts anymore. Waited 15 minutes, prob pretty normal for a doctors office then was taken to an assessment - with my corrective vision, what was I able to see? Then I was taken to a series of machines - one to see my current vision (a farmhouse), one to see the health of my eye due to contacts etc. I got the feeling that this is a very busy store because the person leading them through these tests was giving very specific directions like "move the chair slightly so that we can do this...Great!" She was providing lots of positive feedback so I'm wondering if she is used to dealing with kids? The doctor spent a lot of time scolding me. I told him I didn't come for an appointment during pregnancy and he wondered why if vision changes then, wouldn't it make sense to come? He also scolded me for over wearing contacts and showed me photos of my eye not getting enough oxygen due to over use. I didn't realize that was a big deal. He also scolded me for switching up my lense solution. Ten years back I tried monthly lenses and hated them so he told me that these monthlies were way better. I do like the feel of the trial pair but they aren't free. To get the trial pair I had to pay $120 - I thought insurance was covering it so I was not very happy about that development. I was happy he didn't laugh about how bad my eyes were (it's happened multiple times). I did feel like I was in the hands of good technology and a capable optometrist and the office was bright and clean. Also, after the exam, because they were so thorough, even identifying my midrange issues, I felt like I'd made a mistake getting cheaper exams for the past nearly 30 years and not having the benefit of continuity of care. This is an amazing store! on a lark my Mom and I walked in to shop for some new glasses. Laura is who took care of us and she took thorough care of each person ahead of us. she walked us through the different packages they offer, how we can save money with BOGO lenses- which my mom needed new sunglasses but it didn't stop there. my mom mentioned her hinges on her Kate spade glasses and sunglasses were really off and Laura fixed the glasses and couldn't find the right screw for the sunglasses BUT sent us with temporary lenses to use till she could pop in a new screw. this is the first time we have ever been- we didn't buy those kate spades there but Laura treated us as if we had. absolutely amazing customer service and I'm so glad I saw great reviews and tried them out. now to get my dad there! read more

Beware. This is the worst place I have ever been. Clarity Vision was a waste of my valuable time and my money. We live and learn. I now have to go to another Dr. to get my prescription corrected. I will prepare and do my research before deciding on an Eye Dr. in the future. One who has many years of experience that knows what they are doing. Dr. Augustino is a terrible low grade doctor. She just graduated in 2018 and she does not know how to correct vision. There is much more to get it right than just 1 or 2 corrected vision on a machine. She just goes through the motions. At the end of the exam with the final corrected script it was still very blurry even though I could make the letters out. I explained this and she says "I don't care that you can't see clear, I just want you to be able to read it!" Well I'm supposed to be OK with my vision blurry as long as I could make it out! Which was exactly the final script I was left with, twice. I was never able to see clearly in the day and it was dangerous to drive at night with the script she prescribed. The optician Lauren wrote what she wanted to on my file. The exact opposite of what I told her. Dr. A would not validate what I said when I explained this to her. She was right and I was wrong. Then lies and deception about making things right. Which they never intended to do but led me to believe that. They will not make it right. It is the patients fault if they can't see clearly after their service is done. I have had decades of eye Dr.s and I have never had such a terrible experience, ever. This Dr. is untrustworthy. You have been warned. There are so many other eye doctors in the area that actually care and want to do their best. Not here. read more

I had Dr. Augustino for my first exam in a couple years today. She was very thorough and explained everything to me so that I knew exactly what was going on. I was surprised to see someone around my age (I'm 27) that was so knowledgeable. She was very easy to talk to and the whole staff made sure the process was very smooth. The doctors at this practice have always been wonderful. We were there last Friday and there is a sign on the door that says masks are required. I was very happy to read that. When I went inside everybody had on a mask, patients and staff. With the exception of one receptionist. Her mask was down under her chin. As we were leaving I watched the receptionist who had the mask under her chin wipe her nose with her hand three times. She had a ball point pen in her hand while she did it. When I hesitated and told her I did not want to give her my credit card for payment because I had watched a wipe her nose with her hand three times, she seem to take offense. She stated "I've been double vaccinated", and then she went over to the hand sanitation station and dramatically used hand sanitizer and rubbed her hands in the air as if to make a show of it. I don't really care that she's been double vaccinated, whatever that means, she was rude, obnoxious didn't follow the rules of the office. I will not be returning. read more

Have got to praise Ariana DeSantis at the Apex location!! She helped me in choosing my frames and more specifically in determining what to order for the size of each section of my progressive lenses. She asked careful questions about my laptop height, etc. In my case, it made sense to have one section of the progressives a little larger than the others. Glasses came back quickly and I was off to finally see better while using my laptop. After using the new glasses for a couple of weeks, I went back to her because while I was seeing better in other situations, I was still struggling while on my laptop. I came in with the plan to order another pair of glasses similar to some readers that did help me see better at my laptop. That's when Ariana got to really shine in my eyes!! She could have made another sale right then, but did not take that approach. Instead, Ariana double checked my prescription and what she had ordered for each section of my progressives and determined that the progressives had not been done to her special specifications. She ordered me new lenses asking for the special breakdown in the spacing of my progressives. Ariana told me that if the new lenses did not take care of the issue, we could proceed with getting another pair of task glasses, but she wanted me to try these lenses made to her specifications. She was right!!! My new lenses done to her specifications totally corrected the problem. Ariana could easily have made an additional sale, but instead went the extra mile in giving me extraordinary service! Thank you, Ariana!!! read more

I called and spoke to Katie in Optical prior to my visit. I had a pair of broken frames that I did not purchase from Clarity Vision. I can't say enough good things about this office. She welcomed me to stop by and confirmed she had the parts needed to repair my glasses. The office is clean, well organized, and they have a great selection of frames.
