The location is convenient if you live in the Adams Farm area. It is in the Harris Teeter shopping center. They have ample parking. You can book your appointments online. They send you helpful reminders so that you don't forget your appointment. The staff is always so friendly when you call them and during your visit. They have a great selection of glasses and provide you with your prescription in case you want to order a pair online. I've never had an issue with getting my glasses by the promise date. Usually you receive your glasses before the promise date. This is funny but their music selection is awesome. I swear I wanted to dance in their waiting room...lol The office is very clean. The visits are always quick and efficient. Dr. Dickey is my favorite. He thoroughly explains the changes in your eyes and what is needed to help you see better.

One issue I encountered was that Digby does not accept many common vision insurance plans. Unfortunately, I did not learn this until after my exam, when I was presented with a bill that I had to pay out of pocket. Because my insurance was not accepted, I took my prescription to LensCrafters to have progressive lenses made. After receiving the glasses, I experienced significant vision issues and initially believed the lenses may have been manufactured incorrectly. However, LensCrafters strongly maintained that the lenses were made according to the prescription provided and suggested that the prescription itself might be the source of the problem. When I contacted Digby's office, I explained the situation and asked whether they would review the prescription and verify the glasses. I was told that if I wanted the matter investigated further, I would need to schedule and pay for another eye exam. I was disappointed that the possibility of an inaccurate prescription was not more seriously considered and that there was no willingness to evaluate the issue without charging for an additional exam. Between the unexpected out-of-pocket expense, the insurance limitations, and the difficulty resolving the prescription concerns, my overall experience was frustrating. In hindsight, I wish I had done more research before scheduling my appointment. I would encourage prospective patients to verify insurance coverage in advance and understand the office's policies regarding follow-up concerns before committing to care.

A refreshing change in an often difficult industry. Low marks for staff and communication. About 6-8 months ago, called about possible abrasion. Answering service said they'd pass along message. Call back was several days later. More recently, I had a suspected eye injury. Called and got message that they had a high volume of calls, try website or leave message. I shared message of possible injury-needed to be seen or referred. THIRTY HOURS LATER, I got a call back that they were still very busy and could give me some numbers for their other practices so I could call and see if they might be able to work me in. By that time, I had been to a Primary care doctor and referred to an opthamologist who had started necessary treatments and prescribed meds to address the pain. So, if you only need an exam and some glasses, this might be the place. If you happen to consider them your eye doctors and have an emergency, might want to have a backup plan.

The way the clinic is integrated with the glasses store it seems almost forcing the patient to purchase frames/lenses from here. The two businesses should be separate.

I had initially scheduled on the phone for a routine eye exam for which my…read morecopay was going to be $10, and when I got to the appt Dr De Allen asked me if I was here for contact lenses prescription and fitting. This was the first time I've had eye insurance so it took me a minute to understand... I thought it was part of the prescription, but I said yes... what I didn't know was that "contact lens fitting" was $40 copay... I ended up paying $50 when I only needed to pay $10. I was thrown off by that and quickly realized the gimmick that was pulled. She obviously saw I was a first time patient and she overtook me by making me believe I had asked for fittings along with the exam and made it sound like it was part of the whole thing. I have to mention that she was extremely rude trying to play it off with a laugh every now and then. I had the sniffles and she told me that I should have enough common sense to know this was no longer a cold and that I shouldn't be here. And that I should "know better". I told her I just got tested yesterday to rule out COVID and she told me that Covid tests aren't always right. I kept insisting I do not have Covid and I felt like a child being patronized by an elder. She seemed to have little patience with me about me figuring out my insurance details (what is covered and what is not) and she kept insisting she had my insurance details pulled up so whatever I'll see on my app is what she had already told me. She was impatient rude condescending and I am not going back there again nor going to let my family go there. It was an unpleasant and rude experience. Sorry.

I wanted to cancel 5 mins into the appointment because the optometrist spent the entire time of my appointment being mildly rude with a slight laugh as if to try to overpower her rudeness. She was persistent and pushy about changing the contacts that I have used for 3 years simply because it was her preference. During my exam she told me she prefered that all of her patients follow all her recommendations or she would drop them as patients. I then explained to her that I understand her preference, however, I am the consumer and I have a preference of my own. She insisted all the way to the checkout counter that I change to Acuvue Oasys advance, which was one of the most expensive contacts out there. Prior to my appointment, I went I looked up the contact lenses that my current insurance covers and Acuvue Oasys were not on the list. She then told me that if I could not abide by her rules that she could only see me this one time and drop me as a patient. I've been seeing an eye doctor for almost 25 years and I've never had any doctor talk to me in the way that this optometrist spoke to me. I was disappointed by the entire exam and I still think that the prescription that she gave me was incorrect because now my vision is not as clear as it was with my last prescription. At the end of the eye exam she told me that the person who is responsible for filing insurance claims was sick and that she would be in by the following week to order my contact lenses, this was 12/5/14. The following week I went to have my eyes checked again however, she brushed off my concerns about my vision not being as clear and insisted that if I changed over to the Acuvue Oasys, that I would get a better contact lens and that would improve my prescription. However, I'm spent my whole entire life looking out of the less expensive contacts and I've always had perfect vision with them. I then contacted them 2 weeks in a row to check on the status of my contacts and they had not yet been ordered, so on the third week I called and asked why my contacts have not yet been ordered, this was 01/06/15. The receptionist said she would have the doctor call me. The optometrist called me and she was extremely irate and extremely rude because I was trying to figure out why they had not order my contact lenses. She then proceeded to explain to me that the previous receptionist had quit and the other person who is responsible for insurance had just came back. She then proceeded to tell me that maybe since I was so upset about them not having my contact lenses after almost a month that she would cancel my order, refund my exam and I could find another doctor. I asked her how is it that her company made a mistake, didn't fix it for weeks, then they had someone quit and they were not diligent enough to make sure that they went behind that person so that there would be no errors and somehow this has turned into my fault when I am the consumer. Somehow their mistake means I'm not going to get my contact lenses. I then told her that I was going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and one minute later she was telling me that she would have my contacts. Two days later the receptionist called me and told me that my contacts were there and then she had this weird sound in her voice like she was scared to tell me that the co pay for my insurance was $20. That situation then make me feel like maybe the doctor implied that I could not afford my contact lenses, and that was by far not the case I just refuse to pay an extra $60 a box for the same contact lenses that I can get $40 dollars a box. I've never felt so insulted or disrespected at any doctors office in my entire life. I am going to share the story on every review board possible and I have reported her to my insurance company. I still plan on reporting her to the Better Business Bureau today as well.
