Terrible customer service. I went to them for two years, and always wait for at least half an hour for each appointment. The doctor Susan Wiley, has very little patience to explain the differences between brands of contact lens. She appears nice and polite, but does not give concrete answers for any questions. The manager there is quite rude and impatient and always trying to rush people along. The staff are the same way. I bought two pairs of glasses there and they do not fit right. I have been having blurry vision and dizziness for several weeks. When I went back to the store, the staff simply explain that "this is normal for new glasses. You will get used to it." But it never got better. When I asked if I could replace the glass on the contingency of something being wrong; the staff said " just wait to see what the doctor says, okayyyyy~~~". This was my initial visit to this location, and I am beyond grateful and happy to have found them! Dr. Susan Wiley attentively listened to my concerns and effortlessly corrected my previous prescription error from my previous doctor. She is exceptionally kind and personable, making you feel instantly at home. Mo provided exceptional customer service. He generously helped me purchase contacts and made the checkout process for them & my exam a breeze. I was also promptly notified when my order arrived to the office. Came to say this location indeed does accept walk ins. Even though I did not purchase these glasses from this brand, the staff were attentive and cooperative in making sure my needs were met. It takes a certain breed of people to show outright kindness, professionalism and service to their customers. Being treated unfairly and unequally by the Doctor. I felt discriminated and this was a very hurtful experience. We come from an immigrant family and Engligh is our 2nd Language, but it doesn't mean we are inferior to other people in the community because of our skin tone or language. Experience: We were the first in line in the waiting room to be seen by the doctor after the pre-exam. However, Dr. Wiley came out and took a white lady into her office, who came after us; After finishing with this lady, she came out and took in another white lady. She gave no explanation to us, leaving us to keep waiting. She finally finished with the 2nd lady, and we thought it would be our turn. Surprisingly, Doctor Wiley went straight to the store area and brought a white man into her office once again, with no explanation to us. We waited more than one hour to be seen. We were the only non-white patients in the waiting area at that time. While the Doctor may have the power and authority to decide which patient has priority, treating patients equally and fairly should always be an important working ethic in the medical field. Additionally, after finally seeing my child, Dr. Wiley spent only 3 minutes with us and told us that they don't do the contact lenses that my child need. We left helplessly. Doctor is nice. Retailer horrible. Had exam for contact lenses end of February. end of May now and nothing. I get no updates, and sometimes random automated calls saying my order is in. Nope. I even called the manufacture who said there is no back order and i should've received them weeks ago. Manufacturer (Cooper Vision) told me to have my eye doctor call direct and they would make sure my lense was shipped ASAP. They refuse to call the manufacturer and just tell me that they're back ordered. So the issue seems to be with my eye doctor labs not the manufacturer. Another reason to avoid them. it's their problem and they can't point a finger at somebody else When i call they're dismissive, apathetic and I get a different excuse every time. Probably a fine place for basic prescriptions but if you actually have a need for anything remotely special see somebody else. You can notice a pattern in all the reviews below as well. read more

Doctor and staff were pleasant however this retailer terrible. I would absolutely not recommend this brand. I was told my new glasses would be in within two weeks, only to call at time my glasses were due to find out that they went to the wrong lab. I was told it would take another week. When I finally did receive them, I wore them for 48 hours and they literally broke in half when I was removing them. I took them back into office where they told me they were made incorrectly and that they would have to send them off for a new pair. I called a week later to be told the second pair did not pass final inspection and they had to make another pair which I am still waiting for. I am now going on over a month and still to not have the glasses that I paid for. I will NEVER use this company again. read more

This storefront eye doctor isn't interested in your eye care or well being. But is simply a retailer interested in selling you new high dollar frames once a year !! If you need to have lenses made due to a change in your prescription and want to keep your frames they will not order the lenses unless you sign a disclaimer. It states that if your frames suffer any type of damage while they are installing the lenses they are not responsible and will only cover half the cost of new frames ......TOTAL RIP OFF ! read more

I did an eye exam on 3/16 and bought a pair of glasses in the store. I was told that it will be ready in 2 weeks but it actually took 3 weeks. When I go pick it up for the first time, they made my -5.25 and -5.75 glasses positive 5.25 and 5.75. So I waited another 2-week and this time they messed up my left eye and right eye degrees. If there is a 0 star review option, this store would fit right in. Neighbors, think twice before you come. 4/27 Update: after 42 days of waiting and 5 times of stop by, I am getting my refund, don't waste your time here and then ended up need to go to a new store like I do read more

I have been there twice. The first time, Dr. Susan Wiley and the staff were all friendly, professional, and helpful. Dr. Wiley saw me on time and the staff helped me select the glasses. The prescription was almost perfect. It just needed a minor correction. The staff said it should only take 10 minutes. Which leads me to the second visit. The second time, two weeks later, I had a 10AM appointment and arrived 10 minutes early. Dr. Wiley wasn't there. It turns out they were running three or four appointments behind. I overheard the staff asking the manager if they could let people know that the wait would be almost an hour. He said, "No." and would only tell people coming in that they were running "a little late." They could have at least told people that there were three folks ahead of them. When I finally saw the doctor at 11AM, it was clear she didn't know what she was doing. I made another appointment with Dr. Wiley. read more

The doctor here is wonderful! Very sweet and professional. The staff on the other hand I was not impressed with. The doctor had given me a pair of trial contacts which I misplaced, so I called back to get another pair until my contact order arrived but Jose refused to give me a pair of contacts because I did not buy my contacts through them. I found this very disappointing. I asked him to ask the doctor if she could help me out and he told me no. You would think because I was just there, they would provide kind customer service. I was wrong. Just attitude and denial from the staff member. I really want to continue to see this doctor but I am not sure I want to support unaccommodating staff. read more

myeyedr in McLean: Misleading and completely unacceptable customer service Our family has been customers at myeyedr in Mc Lean for many years. At a regular visit, this week we were grossly misled by their customer service with false and misleading statements about coverage (and ultimately had to pay a large out-of-pocket bill). We are sharing our experience with the hope that others do not find themselves in a similar situation, stuck with a big bill, for no fault of their own and caused by misrepresentation. In short, myeyedr on arrival told us we had insurance coverage and proceeded with the regular checkups. At the end they disclosed that insurance coverage would only be applicable a few days later and insisted we pay the bill and simply submit a claim to the insurance company who would likely honor it. Our insurance company subsequently pointed out that it was myeyedr's responsibility to have checked that 12 months had not passed since our last visit (we were just 9 days short) and that this visit was not going to be covered. myeyedr dropped the ball by not checking (and disclosing this upfront). They went one step further by making us pay the bill and suggesting it would be covered. Fortunately, we did not make the mistake of giving in to their sales pitch to place an order for a year's supply of contact lenses (which again would have been entirely out of pocket). It is unethical and unacceptable that customer service at this outlet has become unreliable, commercial and cannot be trusted. They have lost us as customers going forward! read more

I recently moved to the area and needed an appointment as soon as possible for a diagnosis on whatever was wrong with my eye. The staff was welcoming and Dr. Wiley was amazing. While I appreciate the response, it doesn't change the fact that the warranty was misrepresented multiple times at this location and there is no place where you can actually get a copy of the warranty terms. This is a A+ operation. No, I don't work for MyEyeDr. I was just blown away by this experience. Allow me to repeat: A+. I've been with Kaiser previously, so this was my first sojourn into Vision plans and such. As you can imagine, I was a little nervous having to see a new doctor, work with new people, etc. I did a ton of research and read Yelp reviews, which is probably what you're doing right now. Allow me to save you some time: The time I spent worrying was a total waste. These folks are relaxed, professional, and thorough. I was treated to the most thorough eye exam of my life with Dr. Wiley. I had questions - she answered them, even though half were probably exceedingly stupid. She went out of her way to make sure my contacts fit was exact - anyone who has them knows how important this is. We also discussed glasses and LASIK, among other topics. You know how there are some people that you can tell are trustworthy immediately? Ask for Dr. Wiley. Trust me. So I had to choose some glasses. This worried me a little too, because I'm pretty sure the last time I chose a pair of glasses people were marveling over how cool the original Nintendo was. It's been awhile. I worked with Marshall, the GM. What a class act. You can tell that his co-workers respect him - watch how the team interacts when you go in. He's earned that, not been gifted it by a promotion. Went there for reading glasses and had full eye exam. I thought Dr. Susan was very knowledgeable and really cares about the patient she is examining. I had a great experience and will return for future eye care. I was a little disappointed in the selection of standard frames. The designer frames are extremely expensive. Wow - these guys have gone down hill and FAST. New GM Matt is not great at returning calls, following up on emails, etc. In the past, the GMs (Marshall and Alex) were very responsive and helpful. My wife and I have been customers for years - now it's time to move along. Dr. Wiley is good, but the customer service (for glasses) leaves a lot to be desired; and with so many other options to peruse including Warby Parker (Tysons Mall) and the excellent reviews for McLean Eyecare Center - poor customer service, not returning calls or email is deal killer. read more

My long time eye doctor retired last year and I did not care for new era eye care that took over her practice. When it was time for my annual exam I first started searching for doctors that take my insurance. MED came up and the McLean location is very convenient. Dr Wiley had great reviews and she lived up to them. The general manager, Matt, made sure I knew that if I selected glasses the day of the exam there would be an additional 30% off. He was extremely helpful in my selection of two pairs of frames and explained my lens options. My glasses were ready two weeks ahead of schedule. Matt was at another store the day I came to pick them up and Eddie did my adjustments. He did a tremendous job! I was so impressed with the entire MED experience that I recommended them to my daughter who is going for her exam today! I am thrilled to have found MED in McLean. read more

I won't recommend this store because they have forced clients to purchase their contact lenses after a regular eye exam. Yesterday I went to this store and had an examination with Susan Wiley. After filling out a paper survey, the staff knows that I do not have any eye problem, but she still required me must take a retinal evaluation for my eyes. As a result, this kind of examination was not covered by my vision insurance. It had an extra charge of $27. After completing the eye check, Susan asked me to fit a pair of contact lenses, although I emphasized I will not buy products from her store. When I was going to pay the checking bill, the staffs refused to let me leave without extra purchasing. They said I must purchase contact lenses otherwise they will not provide me my eye prescription. In the end, they forced me to buy half-year contact lens supply with my vision insurance allowance, and only provided me a copy of my eye exam prescription. The sales price for Acuvue 2 6pk is $16.77/box, but this store charges $30/box. MyeyeDr. is not a professional eye retail store. The provider and their staffs have serious cheating actions to the clients. Don't recommend it to anyone. read more

My Eye Dr is a faceless franchise outfit that is quickly buying up some locally owned opticians that had a reputation for good service. In McLean, Va, My Eye Dr bought the long-respected Edmonds Optician ... and, any blush of cordial, civil customer service then vanished. While Edmonds once made lenses for glasses in four days, Mr Eye Dr takes two weeks because their work is sent to some remote facility. In my case, I needed new lenses in a frame I already had that was in excellent condition. Hearing no updates after a week and a half, I called George at My Eye Dr and was greeted with an argumentative guy who kept saying, "well, as I told you when you ordered the lenses ..." No, he didn't tell me. As a former TV network correspondent, I listen carefully. George said nothing of the sort when I ordered the lenses, only a week and a half later, after the fact. I do not take kindly to such rudeness and lack of truthfulness. When I asked that my order be cancelled, George said it would be a "long process." I told him to make it shorter. My Eye Dr is new to McLean and certainly off to a poor start, in my opinion. read more

The actual eye doctor here was very good. The first problem was the staff that spent so little time discussing the actual written prescription and what would work best for me (bifocals, regular glasses, progressives). After remaking the glasses twice, the product I have is not something that actually helps me much. All those issues aside -- this location should be shut down. After seven to nine requests -- in person, on the phone, via text -- they have REFUSED to ever provide the actual prescription to me. I've been lied to numerous times that it was mailed, or would be mailed, or it wasn't available because it had to be sent out to make the glasses. I'm not sure what their game is, but I'm looking into a formal complaint with the state licensing board or other regulatory body. AVOID. HERE's an update -- since I got a response to this complaint on Yelp, I called numerous times, but always got voicemail. I emailed twice -- once it bounced back and once it went through; I gave very specific information that I needed -- the prescription and my name/address, and even referenced the response and gave the name of the person who responded to my Yelp complaint. Don't ask how, but I lost the left lens out of my eyeglass frame. I went into the MY EYE DOCTOR McLean shop, where I had the prescription filled, asking for help. I am a very senior citizen and I use a cane to aid my balance, I was told that it would take 2 - 3 weeks to replace the lens. As I can not function without the lens, I asked for suggestions. I was told to try the Vienna store as they have the cutting machine. I asked why the they could not get the lens shipped to the McLean store after the lens was cut. As I can not drive without a lens, I was hoping for some cooperation. (I can't remember the explanation, but it was obviously not very helpful. ) Although when I asked she wrote the address and number of the Vienna store for me on a slip of paper I called Vienna but their cutting machine was broken and there was no known date for expected repair. They suggest that I call the Pentagon store. The Employee at Pentagon store was most helpful and concerned. She said the lens was still under warranty and they would place the order and try to expedite the lens for me. I later realized there was no way that I could get to the Pentagon store to pick up the lens, I called back and asked to have the order cancelled. Obviously the message was not relayed to the original employee and she called to confirm my order. Very impressed with her level of service I asked my Doctor's office for a suggestion as to how this lens could be replaced in less than 2 - 3 weeks. He suggest a local store which I found to be very responsive and explained although my prescription is very involved with a prisium required etc. they could supply it within 2 - 3 days. After a bad night's sleep, I thought about the $700.00 for the original pair of glasses from My Eye Doctor, and decided that I should take advantage of the fact that the lens was still under warranty, I called the Pentagon store this morning asking the to please go ahead with their original offer and ignore my request to cancel. however I was only able to leave a message. I got a call from the Manager of the McLean store explaining that there was an error. The warranty did not cover A LOST LENS. and the best they could do was a 2 - 3 week delivery date. Also explained that an order had to be place for two lens as they come in a set . How am I expected to function for 2 - 3 weeks with only one lens, I am so disappointed in this level of customer service I received. Only one associate, the women in the Pentagon store, offered any concern or attempt to help solve my problem. I have purchased my last two sets of glasses at the McLean store and they will be the last. read more

I was so please with the "helpfulness" that I ordered three pairs of glasses at the store-a month ago and I am still without glasses I stopped by after two weeks and was told that the doctor had "written down the wrong prescription" so they were reordering with a "rush". No rush, two weeks later, I called and was told they were not in and one had just been reordered a second time due to damage. The shop is very handy and the people are nice-too bad they can delivered the goods. I had high hopes. read more

Dr. Wiley was excellent, very patient and caring. It's the first time I've ever felt like I was getting the answers right when choosing whether 1 or 2 looks better! It was especially awesome that I used the Yelp coupon and scored a completely free pair of $99 sunglasses with my visit--I thought they would make me pay to put lenses in them, but they didn't. They even threw in a case to keep my new sunglasses safe! I would have given them 5 stars if I'd gotten a little more info about the lenses and warranty before paying, but customer service was great overall. read more
